My FI and I actually have known each other for 15 years (gasp!) but really didn't get to know each other until out-of high-school years. He's always been the "great guy to rely on", you know, very sweet, charming, never-cross-any boundaries- kind of guy. One day I even told him (while giving him a great big "just friends" hug) "Don't worry, I'll find you a really great girl. I'll know you'll take care of her and treat her well".
And about one year later...it was me!
It was our three year anniversay, and we decided to spend it at our very first vacation together- La Jolla in San Diego. It was a beautiful (and very warm) January weekend. We were sitting on the cliffs of La Jolla like so many other people and watching the sunset. He kept complimenting me all day, but he is usually like that--and I thought it was becuase we were having such a great time so far that it made him extra lovey-dovey. He sang into my ear our song, "Stay with you" by John Legend. I was so into it that I started singing, too! Afterwards, he told me how happy he was to have me in his life, how much he's changed and grown-up. He then went on one knee, with the ocean behind him, so all I saw was him, the sunset and the beautiful blue ocean, and told me that he wanted me in his life as his wife!
I was in total shock and said (whispered) "Yes!" (followed by, "are you kidding?") and "Oh my gosh, YES!"
I was so into the moment--and still in shock. The FI told me that EVERYONE that was sitting behind us saw everything and clapped and cheered!
So I had a rough time over at David's Bridal...not good service, the lady who was supposed to help me was also helping 3 other women, I disliked the fabic, and I did not feel the special "bride-to-be" feeling.
So my second attempt was to go with my Mom to the fashion District in LA. maybe it was because we went there about 1 1/2 hours before closing time, but I felt rushed and didn't see anything I liked.
I went over to Pebbles Bridal in Woodland Hills where a very helpful woman, Monica, totally helped me out and brough out a few beautiful dresses, and that's where I feel in love with two gowns by Maggie Sottero. My girls who knew me more than myself sometimes all agreed (and myself most importantly) on this:
"Chelsea"
It's not too sparkly, still has a great "flow" and I love the side-draping. Whne monica held the train and gently let it fall...wooooosh...i knew it had to be mine.
My Bridesmaid dresses
it will be like this, but floor length. don't you just love the bandeau top?
Can't forget the Groom!
My Fiance and I are Filipino, so we want to incorporate our traditions and heritage into our wedding. He will be wearing a Barong Tagalog, which is a traditional men's formal wear. It is usuallly made of pina material with detailed embroidery.
