My FI and I have quite an interesting story.  I started going to the church where he went when I was 16.  I was friends with his younger brother and I knew who Chris was since he was the music minister but he was off at college a lot of the time and I was still in highschool so we really weren't friends.  Chris got married right out of college to a girl he had met at school and had a son Daniel.  I started dating one of the other guys from church and we were friendly with Chris and his wife but we didn't know them real well.  Me and my boyfriend broke up and then a few years later Chris and his wife split up.  Long story short, Chris' ex-wife is now married to my ex-boyfriend.  So when Chris and I reconnected at a mutual friends' birthday party we had a good conversation starter :).  We started casually hanging out with mutual friends and then that soon turned into coffee dates.  We soon realized we had *much* more in common than just our ex's.  We were soon going on dates two or three times a week.

5 weeks after we'd started dating Chris got a suspecious mole removed from his back and it turned out that is was melagnant melanoma stage 3.  The next few months were filled with doctor's appointments, two surgeries, lots of worrying about the unknown, him getting laid off and preparing for a year of chemo treatment.  In May of last year he started a year long cancer treatment that made him feel sick, tired, and anxious all the time.  It was a *very* long year but we got through it and are closer for it.  Now that we've gone through that it puts a lot into perspective and I really think our relationship can withstand almost anything now!  So that's our story.  He's been done with the treatment now for 6 months and the whole thing seems like a bad dream.  Now we are just working, enjoying life, and planning for the wedding!

Chris proposed on August 14th, 2009 in San Diego, CA.  He proposed on top of an observation tower at the Paradise Point Report where I used to go on vacation every summer as a kid.

I was told that we were going to the 'Barefoot Bar and Grill' restaurant in the Paradise Point Resort to meet our friends Lindsay and James for dinner and drinks.  On our way over to the restaurant Lindsay called and said they were running late so Chris and I took a walk around the hotel and went up the observation tower.

Our friends Briana and Becki had decored the obsorvation tower with candles, ribbons, and rose petals, and surprised us with a bottle of champagne.  There was a wedding going on at the hotel that day and so when we got to the top of the tower I thought all the decorations were for that wedding and suggested we leave... it wasn't until Chris got down on one knee that I realized what was going on!  It was perfect!

After he proposed we went to the Coronado Brewing Co Restaurant for dinner where many of our close friends were there to share in our special evening!

I was sitting at the train station putting the postage and return address labels on my save the date cards... This lady approached me and said she was a florist and I showed her my save the dates. She is probably the 15th person I've showed them to... And yet she was the first to notice that I had the WRONG YEAR on my cards. Somehow everyone (including me and my fiance) didn't notice that it said 2009 instead of 2010...thank goodness I showed it to her... I was one step away from dropping them in the mail!

save the correct dates photo 1

Here they are!  After almost sending out the incorrect date I have made up new ones and they are ready to be mailed!  Well, almost ready.  I decided to put little adhesive magnets on the back so if people want to put them on their fridge they can.  It's actually probably a good thing I had to re-do them because the original ones i did were 5x7 and that is pretty big for a fridge...  And now they have the address to our PW website!

My colors are purple and chocolate brown.

This first cake is definitely my favorite but looks like it could be pricey.  I really like the simplicity of the second one.

I like the idea of the ribbons and the I DO on the table.... an purple and brown accents (maybe one color for ribbon and one for floswers ???)

cake inspiration photo 3cake inspiration photo 4

I like the ribbon on thsi one and the initial on the actual cake.

So you need to use some imagination...  The cake is going to be two tiers... the tiers going to look like the ones on this cake (without the flowers).

actual cake photo 1

But the two tiers will be separated by a layer of purple flowers (same idea as the one below, but *not* these colors!)

Still looking for a topper.... this is my favorite one that I found but I'm not sure I have the guts to use it considering all the old people coming to my wedding!  :)

I have been wanting these picture frames for probably 5 or 6 years and I found out that they've already been bought off my registry!  Along with the matching champaign flutes!

bouquet keepsake photo 1

I love this!  I got an email from this website (http://www.infinitybouquets.com/) that does this bouquet preservation in photoboxes.  I really liked this one purple one they did in a bubble-type frame but it was a flash-site and i couldn't extract the picture.  It's on the pricey side, but I'm cutting a lot of corners and I think this may be something worth splurging on... especially since bouquets are so expensive to begin with... I'd love to be able to enjoy it for years to come!
