Our big day is November 7th, 2009... and we can't wait!
Our families are both in the agricultural business, so we always knew a summer wedding was not a good idea, nor was it something I invisioned for myself.... I love winter, and I
hope it snows on our day!!
We live in Alberta, but his family lives in the next province, and mine is the next one over... Saskatchewan & Manitoba... We decided to get married in my home town, Brandon.
The Proposal Story:
Before I met Sean in 2006, I had always wanted to travel solo around Europe... Especially before I settled down, get married & have children... I had talked about
this for over a year with him, and we both knew our relationship was getting pretty serious! I knew it was time to start planning, I would have regretted not going someday! I had a bad day at work in early 2008, hastily wrote out a
"leave of absence" form for August to October and stomped over to my boss and handed it to her, no words exchanged. Well, the next day I got hauled into Human Resources, thinking "oh god, I'm getting FIRED!", meanwhile, they had decided that my LOA
was approved, but wanted to ensure I had adequate insurance coverage while overseas. I signed a bunch of paperwork and just like that I was APPROVED to go be off work for 9 weeks! LUCKY!
That day I made out a budget, not knowing how much it would cost... I brought it home to Sean and had a long discussion about it. He was upset, knowing how hard it would be to have me away, and sad he couldn't come with me! As much as I wanted to experience that with him, solo travel was the only way I would discover independance for myself.
The months leading up to my departure were hard, I was excited and happy to plan the trip, but also sad to leave him behind at home. We had more and more "talks" about the future, and I knew right there how much he meant to me, and how great of a person he is for being happy for this "crazy trip".
9 weeks flew by in a heartbeat, I learned so much about myself in Europe... This tends to happen when you are the only english speaking person around, and all you have for days on end is yourself and your journal. It was an amazing time
and I soaked up every moment of it.
Check out this link for a few pictures of my trip :)

The second I stepped off the plane, I ran to customs... I probably freaked out the customs agent with my bouncing around, knowing Sean was only a few feet away from me in the airport.... finally made it through and exited customs, and there he was! I was so happy to see him!
A few hours later after a much-needed nap for the jetlag at the hotel, he gave me my jewelry box with the "bling" I didn't take with me... I tossed it into my luggage and we got ready for dinner. Again he grabs my jewelry box and says "you should wear your jewelry"... and I said "what's up with you, I like this necklace I bought in Greece"... and I continued to get ready for supper. The third time he asked me I gave him the "get lost" look, turned my back to him, opened the jewelry box and THERE IT WAS. I was shocked. I couldn't look at him.... lol! Then I turned around and said "what does this mean?? Is this a friendship ring" (don't ask, I have no idea! LOL!), and he asked me if I would marry him.... OF COURSE I SAID YES!!
long story... awesome ending!

Our Church:
St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Brandon, Manitoba
REAL WEDDING UPDATE:
We didn't add one decoration to the church, I thought it was beautiful just as it was. We did however order some flowers for the alter but the florist forgot to drop them off.... they eventually made it to the church on Sunday morning when the parents went to mass.
Here's a few pro pics of the ceremony!
OLD / NEW / BORROWED / BLUE
OLD - MY GRANNY'S HANKY
NEW - DRESS/JEWELRY/ETC
BORROWED - I BORROWED A HAIR FLOWER FROM MY PHYSIOTHERAPIST BUT DIDN'T END UP USING IT :(
BLUE - BOUQUET CHARM (WHICH BUSTED BEFORE THE CEREMONY, OOPS!)
The Dress: (WITHOUT THE NASTY NECKLACE... YUCK!)
The "Church Cover-up" (VERY conservative Catholic Church)
Once I get my dress altered I'll bring it in to try it with my dress... hopefully it looks ok!
My Wedding Day BLING:
Peridot & Diamond dangly earrings with matching pendant.
My 28th Birthday Gift from FI... the

Here's how the jewelry turned out... DH bought me a diamond bracelet for a wedding gift, suprised me with it the night before... I love it!
Looks sharp with the green bout and now I'll have to find something to tie my outfit in with his
:)
REAL WEDDING UPDATE:
It was such a beautiful day... 20 degrees (68 Fahrenheit!!) in November, in CANADA?!?!?! I didn't wear the bolero and this is what we ended up with for our "look".... DH wore
an ivory shirt and tie, black vest and black suit. I added the ribbon last minute and it really added a special touch to my ivory dress!
Sash, Brooch & Hair Combs:
The The black w/green stripes is what I was thinking of using for FI's tie...

My sister's boyfriend wore the black/green striped tie, and I absolutly LOVED my hair combs (they were a good price and looked great tucked in my hair)

REAL WEDDING UPDATE:
Well, stupid me.... I brought the garters down to the banquet room at some point the day before and tucked them away somewhere, and stupid me couldn't find them that night! That was pretty much the ONLY thing that went wrong that day, LOL!
The photographers got a few cute shots of them.... and for the "toss" we had to improvise and use a freakin' glowstick wrapped around my leg for DH, LOL! So anyway, I still have them... :)
My Flower Inspirations:
Our Colors...
Black, Apple Green & Ivory... and there's our graphic for the invitations and all other stationary... love it!

I recently bought a cheapass sewing machine, and as a beginner I dove in head first into the crafts....
Here is what I have created so far!
