Thank you for stopping by my page!  Just so you know, some of my pages are only available to friends.  I'm leaving all my ideas public since these pictures aren't mine and if they can help you, I'm happy!  But as I make more progress with my DIYs and wedding details, I'll be adding more private pages to keep my personal ideas from prying family members or friends. I don't mean to turn anyone away, I just want to make sure my surprises are just that--surprises!

I am definitely a self obessed planner and knew a long time ago that my engagement would have to be a year long just to get everything that I would want to do done. My FH doesn't really care about the wedding planning, he just wants to "show up, eat good food, drink good drinks and have a hell-of-a-time".  So in a way it make it easier for me.  Most everything is done in a sense, we have booked all of our big vendors and just starting to finalize the details.  I'm looking forward to some DIY pojects now.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions, worries, concerns, or great stories!  I'd love to help you any time!

Matt and I have always been the casual couple and referred to as the married couple LONG before he even proposed. So our story could only reflect our down, home, casual style.

Background information: I have always wanted my proposal to be a surprise; however, it is really hard to surprise me as I am pretty intuitive and catch on pretty quick.

The day had started pretty bad, I was upset because Matt wouldn't take Cali to vet and I had plans to go out after work with some friends. He was supposed to go out the day prior with his, but cancelled his plans and now he was screwing up mine. So we were just arguing back and forth all day. Well about 2pm he starts becoming nice and apologizing and saying I was right... I was like why are you being sarcastic. I find out later that apparently he had just got a call from the jeweler that the ring was ready. So he text me saying their had been some emergency and he had to go out to Stockton immediately, ok now I'm more ticked I just wanted to yell at him when I got home! So a few minutes after getting to Stockton he tells me that it wasnt that big of a deal and he is headed home. Ok...more ticked!! So he comes in Im watching TV--"Say Yes to the Dress" ironically--he asks if I want to know what the emergency was; umm yea. So he pulls out the box and I whip my head to turn away, mind you he had been trying to show me pictures of a ring for like two weeks so I thought he was just going to show me. Then he asked "Will you marry me?" I whip back around and say, "You were supposed to ask in Arizona" (we were going to visit my parents the next week). He said, "This was the only way I could surprise you" to which my only reply could be "YES!"

I love love love my ring!!! I always worried that I would be disappointed; I am very picky and sometimes confuse myself as to what the perfect ring is. Matt designed my ring and I still look at it everyday and get so excited, its soo pretty!!

Save the Dates Final Product photo 1 This was just the first draft (obviously the last name is spelled wrong)

~~~POEM IDEAS~~~
1. Years ago when they were young
two lovers were brought
together as one.
Now and forever, partners in life
under church bells ringing, they'll
be husband and wife.
2. Husband and wife
We soon will be,
Please keep the date opened
and RSVP
Wedding bells will soon ring
for a long time we've waited for this dream
We are in love and always will be,
I'm the one for him, and he's the one for me.
No differences can keep us apart.
Our love for each other comes from the heart.
3. We're getting married and the date has been set,
Next year in Autumn, but please don't fret.
We know the date is a little while a way,
We're only telling you now, so you're free for the day.
September 18th is when we say our vows,
We hope to see you there, if your schedule allows.
Not many of the details have yet been decided,
But additional info will be later provided.
We really don't want you to forget,
And have to send us your regret.
So please place the magnet somewhere you'll see,
To keep you reminded of when the wedding will be.
Final Product
I used old boring wedding invitation kits from Walmart. Printed on the invitation part and used a prettier damask ribbon to tie the vellum to it instead of the boring white one it came with. I then used that "booger" dot glue to stick the STD magnet to it. Then printed directly onto the envelopes. For the invitation I will probably do the DIY Calligraphy just was impatient for these.
Matt and I decided that we love each of our friends the same amount and could never chose one over the other to be MOH or Best Man so they are all Bridesmaids or Groomsmen.
The Women:
Bridal Party photo 1 Kristin Cummins- Bridesmaid
I have known Kristin for almost 6 years we worked together for 5 years before I transferred to Human Resources. I can talk to this girl about anything and everything she is always there and she is always down (with a smile) for whatever crazy scheme I come up with that weekend. She has been there through all my ups and downs and mental breakdowns. She has the greatest ability to listen to everything and stay calm, I know she will be perfect for the job.
Bridal Party photo 2 Julianna Bradford- Bridesmaid
Haha I can't look at this girl and laugh. We met when I was working my second job at Longs in October 2007. I honestly thought this girl was a little off; who goes around asking what direction do the sheep jump when you count sheep?? Yea I know you just laughed, right? And this is why I love this girl. We continue to have our weekly date night where I get we to catch up and I mostly get to live vicariously through her escapades. She's a little crazy and I don't deny that for one moment; however, I know she would be there for me for anything; including pouring a drink on my exes head. Don't let that sweet and innocent look fool you!!!
Bridal Party photo 3- Kaitlin (Kat) Nieto
Ahh Kat the newest addition to the bridal party and the family. Kat has been a long friend of Julie's and frequented the halls of this house many times prior to moving in. We didn't hang out much until she moved in last year and instantly clicked, she is Matt's long lost little sister (its creepy). She is sweet, but spicy, girly, yet a tomboy, hilarious, but serious. She is Kat and what you see is what you get and I couldn't love her more.
 The Men:
Bridal Party photo 4 Collin Cooney
Collin Collin Collin! Great pic bro. We have been friends since kindergarten. You'll see a recurring theme here in a minute. During grammar school we were inseparable and did just about everything together. Throughout high school we ran in different circles, but were still friends and I knew I could count on him for anything I needed. Then for college he ran to LA and I figured he'd stay there. I was wrong he came back and we have continued a great friendship. I can still count on him for anything I need and I know he'd be there for me and he's always good for a laugh.... I mean come on he could have been an actor!
Bridal Party photo 5Johnny Holly
What can I say about Johnny. I have known him personally since the second grade, like I said reoccuring theme right, but our families have known eachother forever as far as I know. During grammar school high school and everything we have been inseparable. Even when he went off to the army and served in Iraq we still talked alot. I was beloved by his family and he is beloved by mine. I was the only guy allowed to come over when HE was grounded. This guy literally would, and has, dropped everything because I told him I needed him. Johnny has one of the biggest hearts in the world and would do anything for those he cares about. That said, he also loves to watch me get absolutely fall down drunk. He is a bartender so I guess thats his job.
Bridal Party photo 6Rossi Zaragoza
Rossi and I have been friends since Kindergarten. What did I tell you Ive known all these guys since I was a little kid.  Rossi is a great friend and another guy that I have been super close to throughout grammar school and high school and when he went to Delta and when I was well enrolled there but not going to class. Our families used to spend summers together at the beach and I can see someday our wives and kids doing the same.  Rossi is one of those guys that will be there no matter what and give you the shirt off his back if you need it or get you back to your house in the back of a pickup in the rain because you have to go to work the next morning and you are passed out drunk. Not that I know that first hand right Ross?
I plan on giving a list of expectations to my bridesmaids. I figure this will hopefully clear up some questions and since I have no maid of honor Im sure they may be slightly confused as to who takes care of what. However, I am also nervous that this may offend them.
Have any of you done this? Was your bridal party offended?
List stolen from theknot.com:
·         Offer to help the bride with prewedding tasks. Try to be specific when you volunteer. For example, say, "Would you like me to help you shop for bridesmaid dresses/stuff invitations/pack for the honeymoon?" instead of just, "What can I do?"
·         Scout out bridesmaid dresses, shoes, jewelry, and other wedding accessories. Pay for the entire ensemble. (Break in your shoes before the wedding day -- that will minimize slipping, blisters, and aching tootsies.)
·         Spread the news about where the bride and groom are registered. (Honeyfund.com)
·         Ask the bride when she expects the wedding invitations to be ready and plan an informal gathering.
·         Lend an ear. Whether it's about the planning, the marriage, or the registry, you should assure the bride that I have someone with whom she can share my thoughts. Even if I seem to dwell on the same subjects repeatedly.
·         Keep me laughing. For the stressed-out bride, laughter can be as effective as venting.
·         Host or cohost a bridal shower for the bride.
·         Attend all prewedding parties.
·         Keep a record of all the gifts received at various parties and showers
·         Plan the bachelorette party with the bridesmaids.
·        Sign the marriage license as a witness, along with the best man. (whoever can come that day)
·         See to it that all bridesmaids get to the rehearsal; coordinate transportation and lodging, if necessary. (Stockton Hilton)
·         Make sure that all bridesmaids get their hair and makeup done, get to the ceremony on time, and have the correct bouquets. (Kat will be doing hair and I will be helping with makeup)
·         Hold the groom's ring during the ceremony. Safest place to put it? On your thumb. (havent figure out what order you will stand in, person closest to me will have the ring)
·         Arrange the bride's train and veil before the ceremony begins and just after she arrives at the altar. Might also need to help her bustle the train for easy dancing at the reception.
·         Hold the bride's bouquet while the couple exchanges vows. (person closest to me)
·         Serve as auxiliary hostess at the reception by introducing guests, making sure they know where the bar is located, and inviting them to sign the guest book hand out directions to reception at end of ceremony.
·         Play hostess along with the other bridesmaids at frequent points during the reception: show guests where to sit, direct them to restrooms, tell them to where to put presents, invite them to sign the guest book, etc.
·         Toast the couple after the best man. (each of you)
·         Ask what she's drinking at the reception and keep her cup full. Brides seldom make it through the crowd to the bar (just be sure her cup doesn't run over).
·         Collect disposable reception-table cameras at the end of the night and get them developed.
·         Offer to be the end-of-the-party, final once-over girl -- collect the cake topper and toasting flutes, make sure Grandma is escorted to her car, etc.
·         Run last-minute errands. On the day of the wedding, be on hand to confirm flower delivery times, meet and greet the ceremony officiant or satisfy junk food cravings.
·         Hit the dance floor when the music kicks in. Also, be on the lookout for toe-tapping guests who might need encouragement and/or a dance partner.
I saw this show once on TV where your friends plan your wedding for you with the help of a wedding planner and you were stuck with their choices for better or for worse. Well one wedding was all done in Black, White, and Pink and I was in LOVE I just knew that this was going to be my wedding. Well some 10 years later I'm still obessed with the color combination so here are some pictures for my inspiration.
Damask Wedding with Pink Accents photo 1Damask Wedding with Pink Accents photo 2Damask Wedding with Pink Accents photo 3Damask Wedding with Pink Accents photo 4
Damask
Black- Black is the color of authority and power. Considered the negation of color, black is conservative, goes well with almost any color except the very dark.  It can be serious and conventional. The color black can also be mysterious, sexy, and sophisticated. Use the color black to convey elegance, sophistication, or perhaps a touch of mystery. Dark charcoal gray and very dark brown can sometimes stand in for black.
White- Brides wear white to symbolize innocence and purity. White is purity, cleanliness, and innocence. Like black, white goes well with almost any color.
Pink- Both red and pink denote love but while red is hot passion, pink is romantic and charming. Use pink to convey playfulness (hot pink flamingoes) and tenderness (pastel pinks). Pink is a softer, less violent red. Pink is the sweet side of red. It's cotton candy and bubble gum and babies, especially little girls.
The Ceremony will be held at the Cathedral of the Annunication in Stockton, CA. Not being Catholic myself I cant say that I ever envisioned myself getting married in the Catholic church; let alone ever thought I would be able to not being Catholic. I did always love the idea of getting married in a church as it appeals to my somewhat (very little) traditional side, but everytime I thought of getting married I saw it outside. However, Matt went to Catholic school K-12 and both his parents and grandparents were married in this church. So with it being so important to him I caved.
Matt took me by the church and its beautiful, as most Catholic churches are, and I feel love and cant wait to walk done this LONNNNGGG aisle.
Prelude- Ave Maria- Schubert, Minuet in G- Beethoven, Panius Angelicus-
Processional- Canon in D- Pachabel, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,
Opening Prayer -
Father,
you have made the bond of marriage a holy mystery, a symbol of Christ's love for his church.
Hear our prayers for Matthew and Shannon.
With faith in you and in each other they pledge their love today.
May their lives always bear wtiness to the reality of love.
We ask you this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever
Liturgy of the Word
First Reading- Genesis 2:18-24
The Lord God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him." So the Lord God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all the wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man.
 So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The Lord God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said:
"This one, at last, is bone of my bones
  and flesh of my flesh;
This one shall be called 'woman,'
  for out of 'her man' this one has been taken."
 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.
The word of the Lord.
Responsorial Psalm- Psalm 128: 1-2, 3, 4-5
Blessed Are Those Who Fear the Lord.
Second Reading- Romans 12:1-2, 9-18
I urge you, borthers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God what is good and pleasing and perfect.
Let love be sincers, at what is eveil, hold on to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another in showing honor. Do not grow slack but be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Have the same regard for on another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, on your part, live at peace with all.
The Word of the Lord.
Alleluia Verse- 1 John 4:16
Whoever remains in love,
remains in God and God in him.
Gospel Reading- Matthew 5:1-12a
Presider: The Lord be with you.
Response: And also with you.
Presider: A reading from the holy gospel according to Matthew.
Response: Glory to you, Lord.
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
He began to teach them, saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Bleassed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for their will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you
and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward will be great in heaven.
The Gospel of the Lord.
Well there is a long story about our wedding date and reception hall:
We had originally decided that we wanted to get married on 10/2/10, I just liked the date. However, the church wasnt available that day, we couldn't to the following weekend as another one of his friends was getting married that weekend. So I went the weekend prior well no reception venues were available. So I called the church back and she gave us September 18th, well our first choice was not available and amongst my frustrations and re-searching I found Le Bistro and I love it more than the others. It just seems to work with our attitude and theme.
My bridesmaid and FMIL went to look at dresses and Bridesmaid dresses on 12/5, they were definitely more lucky than I. We found one that we all fell in love with, which trust me was definitely a feat in its self especially with my dress snob Julianna.
As for the wedding dress it's definitely back to square one. I had this perfect vision of this beautiful satin gown with off the shoulder straps, but I tried it on and thought I was going to throw up. I looked horrible so I sucked it up and tried on some strapless which looked better, but now I have to lose the pudge in my arms (I was trying to hide it before).
But here is the bridesmaid dress along with some dresses that I like:
We are using these as our invitations, but I am going to spruce them up a bit by adding an outer envelope, adding some rhinestones, changing the ribbon to fuschia, we are using a wax seal instead of the sticker. I used the sticker on the DIY Tears of Joy packets.
I will be a custom made menu from double trouble designs once I iron it out, but this is what we have so far.
They will possibly be providing appetizers for free once they redo their catering packages. I thought that was perfect I am only looking for fruit and cheese during the cocktail hour.
All entrees are served with a mixed green salad (NEED TO PICK DRESSING), seasonal vegetable, and dinner rolls.
Herb Stuffed Organic Chicken- tender chicken breast stuffed with herbs prepared sous vide
NY Steak- topped with a sauteed portabella mushroom in cabernet demi glaze
So I looked at the reviews of a few of the designers to create a monogram for our wedding. I was blown away by Double Trouble Designs! I looked at their website and they had so many creative "on stock" designs that I decided to go with one of those. I got three for $12 and was amazed at how fast they were and so kind. They showed me proofs and responded to my every crazy question. I will be using them for the closure of the tears of joy packets, the favor tags, programs, etc... I am so excited!
The FI wanted someplace tropical, I wanted adventure and sightseeing (and not putting my big, pasty butt into a bathing suit). So after long talks about where we wanted to go (I swear this was harder than any wedding decision I made) we finally decided on Jamaica. This was a REALLY close tie with St. Lucia, granted St. Lucia won but then our wallet won--$5k more for St. Lucia :( So I looked into travel agents, website, everywhere and found that AAA (American Insurance Comp) was the cheapest--saved us $500 they provide discounted travel to their members. So I put the downpayment on the hotel and we will continue to research flight travel and hope something will come a little cheaper. I also found out that if I went to the Armed Service Depot they also offer discounted travel so if you know someone in the services have them help.
We will be staying 8nights at the Sandals Grande Ocho Rios in Ocho Rios Jamaica. We will have the Romeo&Juliet room with our own private pool and butler. I am so excited....
