Thank you to everyone here on PW, without everyone here I don't think I could have accomplished all the things that attributed to my wedding day being the most amazing day(s) of my life. I had a vision and that's all it was and when it came to life, I realized that against all the odds, what I wanted for my day was exactly what I got, and a whole lot more. I have never been so happy and feel like the luckiest woman on the face of the earth to have such amazing friends and family and the most amazing husband ever.

Non-Pro Pics:

My beautiful groom and his handsome groomsmen right before the ceremony began

Just as I enter with mom & step-dad

Saying our vows, right before I start to cry....uh..weep ;P

First kiss ;)

Mr & Mrs!!!

During the recessional, not the best pic but just wanted to point out my breathtaking bouquet

The reception venue, it was still bright out so you can't really see what the uplighting effect was but the color combo turned out beautiful. I think our submersed calla lily centerpieces were beautiful, and in the distance you can see the black candelabra's I bought off eBay. The draping was STUNNING, I loved how the crystal beaded curtains against the white drapes were so sparkly at night....I'm sure my photog got some amazing shots.

Our first dance (and a better pic of my bustle rather than the one I posted in my dress fitting pics)....We danced to "The Closer I Get to You" by Luther Vandross & Beyonce. I cried like a baby.

Our special surprise guest, Elvis and we were movin and groovin' to "Viva Las Vegas". Also did a costume change....it was bittersweet to take off my gown and slip into this dress, but I felt so much more comfortable and loved rockin the birdcage.

A picture of our cake, with the first slice cut. I got him good, this was after most of it was cleaned up already ha!

Now just waiting for the pro's!

I really cannot reiterate enough how magical this day was. I would love to relive it over and over again...it was better than perfect.

The Story:

So where do I begin? We first noticed each other on a Friday night at a lounge in Las Vegas. Assuming he was a tourist and vice versa, and the fact that we didn't exchange a single word, we both thought we would never see each other again. We had no idea each other was a local Las Vegan! I thought about his smile that whole night until the next day, my friend said he was bringing a friend with him to hang out and low and behold, there was the guy from the night before.  Was it fate? Most likely but either way, we've pretty much been together ever since.

We are already married, we tied the knot in a romantic, intimate ceremony (just the two of us) in a Las Vegas wedding chapel--which was always a dream of mine. And we are now planning the church wedding & reception that we will celebrate with our family & friends on the 4th of July, 2009--our anniversary!

So this is my hairspiration board:

My hair's pretty long as it is so I doubt any of these styles will be a problem, I'm just worried about it looking too thin so I'm considering extensions to fluff it up a bit. If anyone has any suggestions for that please let me know! I also want to make sure that my bangs drape my face as my forehead is slightly larger than average (I admit, it's not a forehead but a fivehead) and I'm self conscious about it and always wear my hair this way. If it's anything different I may end up thinking about it throughout the day and then not liking my pictures lol. I will also be wearing a chapel length veil w/ blusher but no headpiece, just a fascinator maybe?

My makeup inspiration:

I love how her eyes are so dramatic but everything else is subtle. I think that something like this is perfect for my complexion.

My hair & makeup will be done by Glamsquad in Las Vegas

I am also considering NovaLash extensions: Click here for before and after shots of eyelash extensions. They cost about $250 but I think something totally worth it for someone with absolute minimum lashes like myself!

I will also most likely be going to get my teeth whitened and gaps bonded sometime soon....wish me luck with that. I will post before and afters and pricing when it's over and done with.

Clockwise from top: Back of card with our website, front with damask ribbon wrap & gem embellishment, front of card-high gloss postcard, magnet.

The back looked like this:

Design: done in Photoshop CS

Prints: www.vistaprint.com

We chose the 100 free postcard option twice and also the 25 free magnet option twice. **Note: the postcards & announcement cards are the same size but the announcements hardly ever go on "free" specials, just order the postcards and save your money

Envelopes: Desktop Publishing Supplies Inc. 200 Red A2 envelopes for $22

Damask Ribbon: Big Lots for $1 per 9ft roll

Sticky Gems: Michael's Craft Store

Monogram Design: myself again

Monogram Labels: I got 500 2"x2" square, high-gloss labels for $32 with free shipping and I can use the leftover 300 or so for favors and other wedding knick knacks from Print Runner. The service there was awesome and I even got a handwritten "thank you" card from someone there.

This is the monogram I used:

**STD UPDATE: I can't believe the overwhelmingly large number of people who thought my save-the-date was an invitation. I thought by this day and age everyone knew what a save-the-date was! Also, the little Gem made my postage go up so I opted to only use them on the hand delivered STD's.

Since we are already married, we will be having what is called a "Convalidation" in the Catholic Church. We will be receiving the Sacrament of Matrimony. It is the Priest/Officiant's final decision whether or not we will have a mass, so we don't know that part yet. We will be incorporating our Filipino heritage by incorporating members of our bridal party to include Principal Sponsors and Secondary Sponsors who will assist with cultural traditions of the candle, cord & veil and also and handfasting (tying of the hands) for DH's Irish heritage. (We will also incorporate my German heritage but at the reception)

Ceremony Location: St. Viator Church, Las Vegas NV

Filipino Traditions: Cord & Veil, Candle, Coins

Exerpt from www.weddingsatwork.com: "Candle sponsors light two candles, which the bride and groom use to light a single candle to symbolize the joining of the two families and to invoke the light of Christ in their married life. Veil sponsors place a white veil over the bride's head and the groom's shoulders, a symbol of two people clothed as one. Cord sponsors drape the yugal (a decorative silk cord) in a figure-eight shape--to symbolize everlasting fidelity--over the shoulders of the bride and groom. The groom gives the bride>13 coins, blessed by the priest, as a sign of his dedication to his wife's well-being and the welfare of their future children"

Courtesy of Misha Media (www.mishamedia.com):

Irish tradition of handfasting:

Exerpt from www.littleshamrocks.com: "In handfasting, the wrists of the couple are bound together with a ribbon or cord. Each party holds the hands of the other, right hand to right hand, left hand to left, their wrists crossed. The ribbon is wound around the wrists, over the top of one and under and around the other, creating the infinity symbol. It is said that this practice is the origin of the term ‘tying the knot ’.The vows were spoken and the celebration commenced."

Decor:

Pending! I really would like Pomanders hanging from the pews but I will have to see if it fits our budget. I was originally thinking of later transferring them to the reception site for table centerpieces to justify the cost. I don't have a consultation until the 17th of December so we'll go from there.

Music:

I don't know yet!!!

Our Reception will be at 7:00 pm at the Garden Room at Sunset Gardens

When I was first made aware of the place, I checked out their website...and whoa Nelly....can we say out-dated?? Later, I even informed the owner that he may be losing customers from the website...it is not complimenting at all. They've done so many renovations since the pictures were taken.

Well, my first reception venue didn't fall through, and because we live in Vegas, we wanted something that was easily accessable from the strip hotels, and that wasn't associated with a hotel/casino. I looked at golf clubs and of the ones I wanted, they either could not accomodate our guest count, or were booked. So I was loosing hope and I was reading some married bio's and over and over again was an amazing review of Sunset Gardens. I reluctantly called them to make an appointment to view it and I went in one hour later (if not I would have probably changed my mind).....I got there and it was everything I have ever dreamed of, as a child envisioning my wedding....everything. It's surrounded by lush gardens, and greenery and trees with twinkling lights...it's got this Tavern on the Green type feel, and I think it's so romantic. And it's all-inclusive, open bar, catering, DJ services, coordinating, decor, etc....I mean I killed a whole gang of birds with one stone. We dropped the deposit that very day and I coudn't be happier with my decision!

I will try to get more pictures of how it looks like these days...LOL, but from their website:

This is a picture of the inside of the venue. These pics are from AshleyP01 (a Vegas Board Knottie) photographed by The Cohens Photography:

Left to right: Table set up and windows, Beautiful Chandeliers, The twinkling lights that sealed the deal

And I can't wait to get a photo like this: (Again by Cohens Photography courtesy AshleyP01 Knottie)

Ahhh the romance.....

Someone else's wedding set-up:

I'm taking the picture from the right corner of the head table

From the opposite side (my daughter being silly)

The back where the head table is will be draped with black draping that will cover the entire back wall adjusting the triangular shape of the wall so no foliage will be seen in the background(thank goodness). We will be shining a custom GOBO with our names and wedding date onto it. The event designer will skirt the head table with different linens so no white linens at all.

The dance floor, excuse the stacked chairs stored in the corner. It's actually a lot bigger in person. Our DJ will be setting up a lighting package and our Event Designer will hang a disco ball--I love disco balls!

The first pic is the area to the right of the main entrance when you first walk in. The picture on the right is to the left when you first walk in (so imagine the doors in between).I need to have the following assigned areas situated in this area:

  1. Cake Table
  2. Favor Table
  3. Escort Card Table
  4. Gift Table
  5. Candy Buffet Table
  6. Digital Photobooth (so the the big ones with the monitor on the outside)
  7. Table with the scrapbook that goes with the digital photobooth

So I'm totally lost. The wedding coordinator at the site suggested putting the photobooth on the outside terrace (which is attached to the room by the dance floor. I'm like, hecks no, it will be 120 degrees out that day and only the smokers will have their photo's taken lol. So I need to figure this out.

Finalized order with florist, it was such a pain in the a$$ and the pricing was no joke. I had to sacrifice so much just to get the florals that were most important to me. With my budget, I could have had AMAZING flowers if my wedding was in California....but it's not so hopefully we'll be okay. My MIL loves to do floral arrangements so we're spending $500 on florals from Sam's Club and FiftyFlowers and they will create some arrangements for the reception. I ended up going with a more vintage glam look so we wouldn't need too much. <so depressing>

Anyhoo:

My bouquet will be similar to this

I don't know who's picture that belongs to originally, but I know a lot of us have it lol. I remember grabbing it off a blog or something and cropping it so I'm guilty as charged but to the other ladies with the pic, please let me know who the credit goes to. My bouquet will be similar with lizzies, phaleonopsis orchids, roses and yes the feathers.

My bridesmaids will have a bouquet that looks like this:

Dahlia's, calla lilies, and roses

The men will have rolled red rose petals with a folded leaf in the back, I'm not botanically inclined so I don't know how to describe it, but it's beautiful.

My groom will have a phaeleonopsis orchid bout with some feather accents (shhhhh he doesn't know about the feather yet LOL) similar to this without that snake thing and without the dangly crystals (he may not have been at the altar if I did that to him lol) and my son will have the same thing only smaller scale ;)

Mom's will have white dendrobium orchid (with red centers) corsages with feather accents as well

Dad's will have dendrobium bouts in white:

Primary Sponsors will each get ivory hypericum bouts/corsages and the Secondary sponsors will have alstromeria bouts/corsages:

Our flower girls can't throw/toss petals so we did something fun for them and ordered them flower wands in white button mums with gold ribbon:

We will be ordering roses, hydrangea, tulips, and calla's all in ivory from Sam's Club.

Final meeting with cake lady ends up in deciding on this cake:

And guess what? I'm soooooooo excited about it! I can't wait to see it!

Cake Topper:

I ordered this unfinished cake topper from Crafty Eddy (recommended from fellow PW brides) and will add some bling to dazzle it up:

This was the actual cake and topper. Hotfixing crystals is no joke, it takes min. 30 seconds per crystal to glue and it got very tiring. I stuck with just the G lol.

We will totally be doing a candy buffet, I dont' care how "played out" it is. I love it, guests love it...I really see this as a win/win situation. I've purchased about 16 jars, some cookie jars, some apothecary jars, a lot of old flower vases--the big kind that you can actually fit your hands in. I only spent about $100 on all of the jars, collecting them from the Goodwill, Savers, and with my 50% off coupons from JoAnn's and Michaels.

Now filling them I'm scared about! We are really trying to stick to our color scheme with it though so all our candies will be in red or gold, which is pretty easy to find.

I love how this bride kept with her color scheme nicely, looks so good and she's even enjoying it!

Okay, so here is the final product of my invitations. I will post better pictures, there was bad lighting and the color's didn't turn out right. Basically they are bronze metallic pocketfolds, and gold leaf metallic for the invitation mat and the inserts (they are the exact color only the picture shows otherwise). The invitation is printed on pearl metallic cardstock. I bought everything from www.cardsandpockets.com. I had the invites thermographically printed for a fancier approach.

In a traditional Filipino wedding, information regarding who the sponsors and attendants are, are usually included in the invitation, that's why my inserts may look different than your average pocketfold inserts.

The 2 polka-dots are actually gems lol.

The belly band on this one was the inspiration for mine.

Yay! I stumbled across these miniature wooden shadow boxes from Michaels. They were originally $1, and I had planned to get them at that price. When I went in to grab some, they were on sale: 2 for $1!! So I took the 20 they had in stock and approached a friendly manager to order some more. He not only ordered them but honored the weekend sale price they were on for on the day that I ordered them. Great guy (Thanks David from Michael's!!!)

We will be staining them and putting a picture of us inside the shadow compartment of the box. Either the picture will have a "Thank You" and date on them or I will think of a way to put that perhaps around the frame of the box. I was kinda thinking of buying a stamp with romantic words on it and stamping on the box so it kind of has a somewhat of a wine cork feel/design to it. And we are still thinking about what to put inside. Although thanks to PW'er Jaryce, I'm thinking crinkle paper and a painted rock right now....we'll see, but love that idea. I would love to put a chocolate in it but I'm thinking in transport, they would probably melt in the hot July weather here in Vegas, and that would end up being a disaster lol.

So here they are, the unfinished product. I will update when we get done with them. I'm just so thrilled that it's one thing off my checklist!

Yay! This was one of the first things I booked. I remember reading through a local magazine and seeing a kid's bar mitzvah having a photobooth and I knew I wanted one for the wedding I might have some day. I ripped out the article and kept in my desk drawer. When we started planning it was the first thing I pulled out only now I heard about the digital photobooths and it seemed like so much fun. So I found this place:

www.ShutterBoxphotobooth.com based out of Las Vegas and Chicago. I did my comparison shopping and these guys ended up giving me a great deal. We will be getting a scrapbook package with them in which 2 prints will be printed out, 1 as a keepsake for the guests and another to paste in the scrapbook. There will be an attendant there the entire time to assist with all this.

We will use this design but with red accents instead of purple:

simply because almost all our guests will be from OOT, and it will be a nice souvenir for them.

Some Fun Shots:

Me and my kids ;)

After all our pondering with our large bridal party we decided to book a private room at Memphis Championship Barbecue!

Their private room called "The Porch" it's all ours, hooray!

my daughter sneaking into the pic again lol.

This place is so awesome! Ray & I love the BBQ there and its seriously one of our fave restaurants in town. It was his idea (it was both of ours but I will let him take credit here). And we are going to have a 4th of July theme for our rehearsal dinner since our wedding will be on the 4th and our guests will be missing their regular barbecues.

We are going with "The Taste of Memphis" meal which includes (if you are vegan do not read any further)

  • baked beans
  • cole slaw
  • creamed corn
  • baked rolls w/honey butter (so yummy)
  • St. Louis style ribs
  • shredded pork
  • sliced beef brisket
  • barbecue chicken
  • hot links

We will also be giving our gifts to our bridal party at our dinner. Aside from the bridesmaids and groomsmen, the other adults (sponsors) will receive a barbecue basket that will include:

  • a bottle of wine with Las Vegas logo (for a souvenir of Sin City)
  • a bag of apple blossom tea (Memphis BBQ signature)
  • Memphis BBQ sauce
  • a personalized apron (I *may* try to DIY this to save money)

I also want to get personalized flags for favors from Oriental Trading but Ray says it's corny so we'll see.

I am also going to surprise Ray with his 49ers grooms cake on this night! OMG tons of yummy food, I will probably take some ex-lax at night so I'm not all rounded the next day on the wedding!

I'm actually super excited for this night, it's one of the events I'm looking forward to the most!

I really wanted to build on the romantic essence the venue had. I love the chandeliers and the outdoor ambience, especially at night. Our final decision:

  • Linens will be half of the tables in black, and the other half in a black & ivory toile-like print, not quite damask
  • Our centerpieces on these tables will be illuminated, cube vases with a lamp shade and submersed orchids (or a similar flower) with black river rock on the bottom and a floralyte. We will also put a battery tea light in the lamp shade to illuminate the top
  • The other half of the tables will have black chandelier-like candelabra's
  • We will use miniature bud vases and votive holders in ivory & black to put small arrangements of roses
  • We will be using golden-crystal beaded votives on the tables with the toile print and ivory with toile embellishment votives on the tables with the black linens
  • We will use regular white plates (acting as chargers lol, but will be used as plates) with black napkins folded to hold a menu printed on gold-leaf cardstock, embellished with a bloomed rose for a small pop of red
  • Head table will be draped in black, with black draping behind it. Each side will have a crystal curtain suspended to frame the draping and custom Gobo
  • Basically everything is black, ivory, and small hints of green (in the foliage) and tiny pops of red & gold, we will enhance our "red" motif by washing the walls with red uplighting
  • Elements are black river rock, moss, ostrich plumes, crystals, ivory florals such as roses  & hydrangea, golden accents (frames, votive holders, lighting) and red mood lighting

Our wedding photographer relocated from Las Vegas to PA (across the country) and we were having a hard time scheduling our e-session with her so we will be doing a family session with her after the wedding but I really wanted some pictures beforehand so I enlisted in a brilliant up and coming local photographer, Joey Allen. We scheduled a 6 a.m. shoot to get a time slot and also to take pictures before all the tourists jammed up the spots but it was well worth it and I am more than pleased with his work.

Not much but I just wanted to post my DIY something blue boy shorts that I made from some super comfy cotton panties and iron on transfers from Michaels. It's too hot in Vegas to wear those cute Sexy Little Bride hoodies or "Mrs ____" ones, so I'm wearing the VS "Bride" tank and my boy shorts with my Rocky Balboa robe (lol, I call it that I feel pumped and ready to go like a boxer when I put it on teehee) it's really the "Bride" robe from VS. I LOVE IT. My favorite shower present ;)

front

back (I LOVE the back)

and yes, I plan on wearing them under my dress as my something blue ;) They're sooooooooo comfy and nobody will see them anyway.

Do it herself  ;P

Some of my DIY projects:

Water Bottles:

(The preliminary, wrong ink and wrong bottle LOL, will post updated soon)

I ordered the water-proof water bottle labels from www.labelsbythesheet.com and in photoshop I simplified our monogram so it was just our names, I made a barcode where the numbers are our wedding date and added nutritional content.

Cardbox:

I bought these el cheapo 10 x 13 frames from Wal-Mart for $5 each (more on the 10 x 13 frames later). I didn't like the look of the exposed open corner, I wanted a "flushed" look so on each side, one edge of the perpendicular frame became part of the new frame (you can see this a little bit better in the finished, unpainted box photo).

I attached the frames together with L brackets from Home Depot.

I knew I wanted to be able to open and close my box with ease at any time and also lock it. So, also at home depot, I purchased wood and had 2 pieces cut to the exact measurement of the circumferance of the box.

I also wanted it to rotate so I picked up a lazy susan (at yep, you guessed it Home Depot) and attached it to the wood that would be on the bottom of the box---this was THE hardest task of all, I had such a hard time :@

I drilled holes on the top layer where I wanted my slot to be. I then went around the holes with a jigsaw to cut out a rectangular opening.

I attached the top piece of wood with cabinet hinges and screwed on a lock.

I didn't like the raw edge of the wood so I purchased some wooden molding from Michaels and secured them along the edges and along the open card-slot area to frame it.

raw unfinished and unfinished

I then painted it black (well, I painted it brown first but changed my colors, then I painted it black)

Now, about the 10 x 13 frame: No wonder it was so damn cheap! This size is pretty rare, I had such a hard time trying to print out 10 x 13 size prints, so I settled for 8 x 10's. Now, the problem with this was that I needed photo mats, which are also a pain in the deriere to find. So I ended up using card stock cut to 10 x 13 size and mounted my 8 x 10's onto that.

Blinged out Cake Topper:

Images coming soon!

Blinged out Toasting Flutes & Cake Server:

Images coming soon!

Thank You Parasol:

Images coming soon!

Marble Message Magnets for Favor Boxes:

Images coming soon!

Photo Coasters for Sponsors:

I bought tiles for .16 cents each at Home Depot.

I took one of our e-pics, photoshopped in the "Thank You", and had several sheets printed out at kinkos (I used the online file upload tool and just picked them up, easy peasy) Technically you can use any paper or design you like, you can also fill up all the space on the tile.

I used a paper punch for the scallops to add some texture around the pictures

Then I stuck them on with a thin layer of mod podge glue on the back and then over again on the top (had lots leftover from marble magnet project)

When they were dry, I water-proofed them with a clear gloss coating spray

I bought cork rolls from Michaels and cut them into same size squares as the tiles and used liquid nails adhesive to attach them...

Voila, photo coasters. I made 40 for <$15 ($20 ish including the mod podge but I already had it)

Wine Labels for Sponsors:

I'll try and get a better pic of this to show you. We will be giving these along with the coasters and some cheese in a basket for our sponsors.

I bought wine labels from www.labelsbythesheet.com

I bought 20 bottles of $2 buck Chuck from Trader Joes (btw, it's now $3 buck Chuck, it doesn't sound as fun though huh?)

Soaked them in tubs of water for about 2 days to really get the adhesive to disintegrate and loosen up. We then peeled off the labels, and wiped clean.

I totally had to make the template from scratch, this was the tricky part because the labels came with the stickers that you see on champagne bottles and I had to work around those. I do have a photoshop template if you need one so pm me.

I took an artys looking e-pic and made a design it says "2006 Merlot" on the red stripe and "Thank you for being a part of our special day. Love, Sharie & Ray"

Printed on my inkjet and affixed to the bottles.

Hair Flower:

modeled by my daughter, hence the "bigness" lol

I had the most amazing bachelorette party ever. We did a Stripper 101 class in the afternoon which was such a blast, I had no idea how much mechanics went into a good lap dance or pole routine. I am totally determined to get a pole installed in my room LOL! So much fun. We all rocked matching tanks that my MOH made. Later that night we took a limo from the hotel to a yummy dinner at Grand Lux and finished our night at TAO. It was so much fun!!! Me and the BM's and 2 of my close friends left the hotel in black, my cousins showed up at dinner in black and my friends showed up at TAO all in black....I just thought it was amazing that people all came through and deliberately made a wardrobe decision in favor of me....silly, but I thought it was amazing.
