Ty and I picked out my ring months before our engagement... needless to say I was on high alert for any behavior that was out of the ordinary; anything over the top would have caused serious red flags. Of course, Ty was still able to completely surprise me.
I spent the weekend of May 22, 2009 in Lubbock, Texas for the 5-A Regional Track Meet - the same meet where our first date was coordinated. We drove, so I didn't get home until about 2am on Sunday morning. I had already decided to sleep in that morning... I took my sweet time getting ready for the day. I wasn't even completely ready when Ty asked if I had gotten a new cross for my wall. (For those of you, well most of you, who haven't seen the wall behind my bed, there are crosses of all different colors and sizes.) Knowing I had been out of town there was NO way I had gotten a new cross... I told him no, but he insisted that I had gotten a new one. Intent to prove him wrong I marched into my bedroom and much to my surprise there was a new cross... with a white ribbon and MY RING hanging from it!!! I turned around and Ty was already on his knee asking me to be his wife... YES YES YES! After the initial shock of the proposal... I looked more closely at the cross, which is inscribed with Mark 10:8 - perfect.
**Random side note... Ty also got me an ADORABLE card - with the flowers I want at the wedding on the front. He had no idea what I was thinking for flowers... it was perfect!
