So we had talked about getting married one day. I would always joke that we didn't need to get married-I just wanted a ring! He knew that I LOVE emerald cut diamonds. One day he wanted me to go to the shopping mall with him. Ordinarily I would be like "of course" because I am always looking for a reason to shop but I didn't want to go that day. He persisted however so I reluctantly went.
We were strolling through the mall and Steve said lets go in here for a minute. It was a jewellery store and my heart stopped! My heart was beating so fast when I was trying on rings. I was actually sweating-really romantic I know. We went into several stores but none of them really had what I wanted. I wanted it to be a surprise anyway.
Fast forward a few months.
Steve had always said he would never propose on my birthday, our anniversary, Valentines Day or Christmas because it was too expected. On Christmas Eve we always exchange our Christmas stockings and save our gifts to open in the morning. It was pretty casual. We were watching a movie while we opened them. I pulled out a bunch of Hershey Kisses, a Kinder Egg etc and tossed them to the side because then I saw that Steve got me a heating blanket which I was SO excited about because I'm always cold. I have wanted one for years. I read the entire manual from front to back.
After I read the "instruction novel" Steve said what toy did you get in your Kinder Egg? I picked it up and proceeded to open it. I opened the little plastic egg part and a "toy" ring fell out...at least I thought it was a toy until I picked it up and felt how heavy it was! Meanwhile, Steve had pushed the coffee table out of the way and was down on one knee. I don't remember a thing he said except "will you marry me"? I was SHOCKED!! He hadn't planned on doing it that night but he said he couldn't hadle it anymore-he just had to give it to me. He had it less than a week but kept sneaking a look at it all the time and couldn't wait. He had gone to the convenience store earlier in the night and bought 2 Kinder Eggs in case he screwed the first one up. He even re-melted the egg closed with a lighter and tried to take all of his finger prints off. So sweet! And I made the poor guy sit there while I read an entire insruction manual haha. Now whenever I see a Kinder Egg I smile :-) I love him so much!!
This was my gorgeous bouquet!!
And these were my inspiration photos...
This was my original inspiration...still gorgeous...but hey things change
This is what my wedding band will look like!! I have to wait a couple more weeks for it because it
is being custom made. I can't wait!! I may even have to wear it on my right hand until the wedding!!!
UPDATE: So here is my wedding band...
And FI will not allow me to wear it before the wedding :-( However, if he's not home and I'm just wearing it around the house it doesn't count right?
Here they are together...
These are my beautiful shoes!! I debated and searched forever but decided on these beauties. They are
from Dyeables and they are called Spirit. I was considering dying them blue or eggplant but I have decided to keep them white. I bought circular rhinestone brooches for the front that will go in the center of the oval rhinestone pendant. I'm also going
to put "I DO" in blue rhinestones on the back stap. And...I'm going to "bling-out" the heels with more rhinestones!! I will add pictures when the shoes are done.
Not done yet...but getting there :-)
So these will be some of the centerpieces. The vases I bought are a little bigger than these ones. These are only 12" and I bought 14" ones. I am going to alternate flowers for each table. I think I will put 2 or 3 purple callas in some and 1 or 2 orchids in the others-depending on the size. I'm also considering adding the floating candles and dying the water a shade of purple.
I am going to surround each vase with 8 votives. One table purple and one frosted--or alternate--I'm not sure yet.
And here is a pic of the final product.
I'm still playing around with different border ideas, cardstock and photo colours...but here is the beginning.
UPDATE-- We didn't end up doing this. We were at a friends wedding 3 weeks before ours and she did something similar to this and I didn't want to look like I was copying her.
So I was inspired to make these after seeing pics on PW. I am going to have lanterns on sheppards's hooks marking the aisle, and larger white and purple ones hanging from the trees.
I bought my garter from Garterlady on Etsy :-)
And I bought my panties from La Senza/Victoria's Secret. So cute!!
I can't wait!! I am so excited!! Just insert Fi and I into the photos!!
Soooooo much fun!!
