How We Met
We met in college in Miami. By the second day of class, I had a big time crush. Unfortunately, he wasn't available. So we became fast friends and study partners. His availability eventually cleared up and about 6 months
later he finally asked me out. We have been together for almost a decade. I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else!
The Proposal - 1/26/08
Six months after he moved
across the country to California to be with me, he proposed. He worked so hard and everything was working against him. The weather and I thwarted several of his ocassions to ask me. In the end, it was perfect and it was
us...
Instead of his original plan to take me horseback riding, he surprised me by making my favorite breakfast - even though he
doesn't cook. I woke up to find a beautiful spread on our diningroom table: tulips, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, etc... I started to eat a strawberry, when he flew into the diningroom, came down on his knee, and said, "before you start
to eat, will you please marry me?". I was in shock, but managed to say yes. I was so surprised! And here is what I got...
We were lucky to have my talented friend Jade of Uplift Photography in New York pay us a visit. She came to my second dress fitting at Amy Kuschel and snapped a few pictures of us in San Francisco. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful, generous and talented friend!
We are getting married in our hometown of Miami. Since we are planning from California we decided on a venue that includes catering to keep things as simple as possible.
To go with the venue and our own personal aesthetic we are having a Modern Tropical theme, featuring lime green, aqua, and ivory colors.

Reception Site (minus patio chairs)

Here is what it looks like all gussied up and ready to go!

And the view - I love the flamingos!
The Centerpieces and Decorations will be more on the tropical side

Our Save the Date Postcard

We printed these with VistaPrint for free.
Envelope is recycled Event Tone A7 in Tropical Green from Paper Presentation ($24/100)
The wraparound labels were laser printed at Kinkos using their ivory paper, and then turned into stickers using my Xyron.
I named the tables after tropical/Florida plants, using vintage botanical prints found online.
They are a nod to our professions and go well with our lush reception site.
I painted 5x7" wood frames from Ikea (2/$3) with silver craft paint ($0.50).
Other DIY goodies....

I am quite the baker, if I do say so myself. So I am doing my signature cookies all the way. I am going to go with simple packaging using favor bags
I goccoed paper bags from Michaels ($0.23/each), postcard and magnet printed at Vistaprint

I filled them with:
- Gummi crocodiles from Jelly Belly ($0.44/each)
- trial size sunscreen ($0.44/each from Target)
- a Florida orange
- key lime cookies
- 2 bottles of water
- a carton of Goldfish crackers
- some local visitor guides/maps

MAKEUP INSPIRATION

The very first thing I did the morning of our wedding was make the personal flowers for our wedding. It was very relaxing.

I found my dress at Amy Kuschel's flagship store in San Fransisco. One of the biggest selling points, besides their beautiful gowns, was that their dresses are custom-made to your body and all the alterations are included in the sale price.
The dress I chose was the Hayworth

My first fitting
After all their pinning, they took out some Crayola markers and actually drew all over the dress.
Second Fitting
(all the following pictures are from Uplift Photography)
The only thing missing here was the sash around the waist.
They also pinned the bustle.
Trying all the gorgeous jewelry.
Third fitting
I took her home.
