I offically met Chris in 2007, but I've known about him since February 2006. Chris worked at the same company my mom did. My mom was captivated with his personality, and charm. She started telling me all about this guy at work that I just had to marry...not just meet but marry. I probably knew half of his life story before we had even been introduced. Our paths crossed a couple of times but it wasn't until Chris and I played on a co-ed flag football team in September 2007 that I began to see what my mom had seen all along. He was passionate, funny, charming, and he had the most genuine smile I had ever seen, Thursday football games were the highlight of my week. Our first date was a Rockies playoff game, "Rocktober". It wasn't too long after, that I knew Chris was the man I was going to marry, just like my mom had wanted since the day she met him.
While we were sitting around lazily, watching the kids play with their new toys, Chris told me that he had another surprise present for me but it hadn’t been delivered yet. He said hopefully it would be there soon. I told him not to worry about it, and whenever it came I’m sure it would be great.
Around the early afternoon it was time to start getting ready for Christmas dinner. I showered and started getting ready in our room. Chris kept coming in every couple minutes harassing me about how long it was taking me to get ready. I told him that the more he kept coming in and bothering me the longer it was taking me to finish! I hurried to finish my hair and make up...walked out of our room to the living room and saw my mom and stepdad sitting on the couch! I started crying right then...I was so surprised and so confused.
My mom told me that there was no way she couldn’t be with me on Christmas. I looked at Chris and asked if this was the surprise that he was "waiting to be delivered". He just looked at me and smiled. I sat in between my parents on the couch still pretty much in shock when Chris stood up and said that he had one more surprise for me.
He said the most wonderful things about our relationship and how much he loved me and then in front of both of our families, the people who mean so much to us, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I couldn’t have imagined a better proposal. It was so meaningful and so "us". And the fact that our families got to share in the moment with us made it that much better!
ENGAGEMENT RING: My engagement ring takes my breath away. Chris picked it out all by himself. He knew I wanted round and he knew I wanted a halo...never did I think in a million years that I would be totally suprised and still get exactly what I wanted.
The ring is a custom made Christopher Design setting. People either think it's a traditional heirloom or completely modern. I love that it can be both.
I apologize in advance for all the pictures...I love taking pictures of my ring. Well anyone's ring for that matter :)
WEDDING BAND: I custom designed my wedding band through Kay Jewlers. They were absolutely amazing. They're custom prices were better than any other jewler that FI and I could find.
Chris' wedding band is from www.titanium-jewelry.com. It's black titanium with a black bezel set diamond. It was $250 which you can't beat!! :)
My dress is the Pronovias Horizonte in ivory. It is nothing like what I thought I wanted, but when I put it on it was perfect. The veil is my favorite part...I wanted a cathedral length veil but didn't want it to look too tradtional. When I found this veil I knew it was perfect....
It took me FOREVER to pick a dress for my girls. I wanted something that would flatter everyone's body type...that was a difficult task because my girls range from 5'1" to 5'9" and everything in between. My MOH (my sis) had her baby 1 month before the wedding and 1 bridesmaid was 6 months pregnant at the wedding. Needless to say it was quite a task.
This is what I ended up deciding on. I figured it would look good on everyone...they might not ever be able to wear it again...but really who ends up wearing bridesmaid dresses again anyway??
It's Bari Jay style #809. The dress will be in Eggplant and the trim in Ivory

I got them from Invitation Consultants. They are the Tuxedo Charm design. The wrap-around address labels on the envelopes were designed by Kristie at West Wind Days on Etsy. Kristie sent them to me in a Publisher file where I was able to do a mail merge from an excel document to the publisher file. I bought full page labels from Office Max and took the label paper and file to Kinkos. My total cost for the invites and the labels was about $800
(sorry that's small)
Our reception will be held at Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park, CO. It's absolutely beautiful! We really wanted Estes for our wedding, but we were getting discouraged because most of the venues there have a very "mountainy" feel. I've been calling our wedding "Mountain Chic"....and the traditional mountain feel was not what we were going for at all. When we found Della Terra we were floored! It has the perfect amount of rustic feel without going over the top. It was brand new when we booked it...all we saw was the 2x4 building frame. We had to use our imagination and trust the owners and I'm so glad we did because it turned out so much better then I could have thought.

We honeymooned at The Sandals Regency resort in St. Lucia a month after our wedding. We spent 10 wonderful days in the sand and sun. My
favorite part was our 2 story suite that had our with our own private pool
Our Room....
We have a heeler mix named Happy
And a Boston Terrier named Camo
For anyone who might have a slight interest in Camo...I'm terribly sorry to inform you but he is off the market. His girlfriend is Ella - tktoups10 pup. It's long distance, but I hear wedding bells in the future :)
I've had several questions about my bustle so I thought I would try and break it down a bit. Here are some pictures to start:
How my bustle was done: My bustle is what my seamstress called a "nine point traditional bustle". Which means it had 9 hook and eye pick ups total from hip to hip.
<---Dress not bustled. You can't see where the bustle attachments are.
<---Close up of the fishing wire used to hold up the skirt.
<---Close up of clear button that the fishing wire hangs on.
<---Another view of the button. It blends into the the beading so you can't even
see it.
<---Getting ready to hook the wire onto the clear button
<---The wire goes through the tulle to the underneath of the dress and is
reinforced by beading. (Note: this only happens on the 3 center hooks. The other 6 go though the tulle only.
<---Close up of the wire hanging on the button
<---Dress bustled. (I didn't attach all 9 hooks...I only did 7 but you get the
idea)
Hopefully that helps your seamstress.
I've had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful PW girls in person. If you haven't already I'd highly suggest organizing/attending a PW GTG in your area!
