I know I have told this story a million times but everytime I re-tell it or think about how we met it always makes me smile.
Daniel and I were both students for the CIS department at Cal Poly Pomona and on the first day of classes waiting outside in the hallway before our telecom class was a tall gangly guy with glasses, dress pants and a t-shirt on that said "pebkac." (For those who don't know it stands for "Problems Exist Between Keyboard and Computer)
When I looked over at this guy he caught my eye, me not knowing what to do smiled. He gave me a once over look and scowled at me and continued playing with his cell phone. I was thinking in my head "what the heck is this guy's problem??!?!" and thought nothing else of this rude guy for the next week of classes.
The following week I was sitting outside of class once again chatting with a classmate when the "rude guy" decided to join in on our conversation. I then learned his name was Daniel and that was about it.
The next day I walked up to our classroom and lo and behold here sit Daniel fiddling away with his laptop so being friendly I sat next to the guy and started chatting with him and asked him for his screen name so I can ask him for notes in case I missed class (and no this was not a plot to get to know him better I honestly just wanted notes)
That night I noticed he was online so I messaged him to say "hello" and within the next hour or so of on and off chatting he asked me out. I said "no." He kept asking I kept declining until he wore me down within the next few days and were off on our first "date."
Over the course of the following weeks we would spend casual time with one another and each time he would ask me to be his girlfiriend and I either just laughed it off or said "no." 6 requests later I said "yes" and the rest is history...
I found out later on that Daniel had originally wanted to propose to me up in San Francisco after we had biked the Golden Gate bridge however the ring wasn't ready yet so the poor thing was walking around San Francisco feeling guilty because he had planned the trip before he realized the ring wouldn't be ready yet. So he decided to propose to me on Christmas morning at our home in Yorba Linda...here is how it went:
6:00am
D: "Honey....wake up! It's Christmas morning!!!"
L: *mumble mumble* "5 more minutes...."
D: ".....but Santa left you a gift under the Christmas tree"
L: "but its sooo early!! 5 more minutes"
D: *sulking for 5 -10 minutes* "okay its been 10 minutes!"
L: *gets up to go to the bathroom and comes back to bed"
D: "...............WAKE UP!"
L: "okay okay!"
D + L Walks down stairs and D picks up a ring box he hid behind the tree and proposes to me in the living room of our new home.
Yay!!!
Here is my engagement ring :)
I haven't taken a recent photo of my ring but it looks pretty much exactly the same. We had to switch out the setting because the store that FI bought my setting from recommended this setting however the prongs were too weak for my diamond and over time it was getting loose and actually wiggling inside the prongs!
It has since been changed to a 6 prong setting :)
Our ceremony will take place at a Japanese Garden in Downtown Los Angeles :D It is a beautiful garden and I am so excited to have our ceremony here!!

We are having a traditional 10 course Chinese Banquet for our reception dinner.
My FFIL has some good friends at the restaurant which was why we got such a GREAT deal. We get full usage of the flat screen tvs in the restaurant, our choice of linens, no corkage fees, to cake cutting fees, free dance floor, free soft drinks and free red and white wine and lots of other little extras.
The only qualm I have about the venue is that the ceilings are low, no uplighting for me :( and that there are these gold pillars in the way but we can arrange the seating so that it won't obstruct the view. Its okay, the pros outweigh the cons. Not to mention that the food is great!

I found this picture of inside the restaurant from Jin and Jirsa's wedding photography blog. I hope they don't mind!! But as you can see the ceiling is a little low but we can make it work :)
My gown!!! :D
She is a Maggie Sottero Krisha/Krisha Marie in diamond white and pewter accents. On
the model :)
And here is the view of the bustle. It was only $35 to be put in :)
I am also having a traditional Chinese cheongsam made for our tea ceremony as well as to change into during the reception (as it is traditional for the bride to switch gowns during the reception) I will post picture of it as soon as I go in for my fitting :)
Update:
Here is my cheongsam :) I have to say I am quite happy with how it turned out. The detailing is very intricate and lovely. Its a little big on me because I had lost some weight since my original fitting. The seamstress at the shop explained that because I may lose some more weight between now and the wedding I should bring back the dress in the middle of March so that we can do the final adjustments. Makes sense.
Here is it is! sorry for the bad photo quality :P My FI is not a very good photographer.
My MOH and Bridesmaid will be wearing two styled bridesmaids dresses.
My MOH:
My Bridesmaid:
I had my hair and makeup trial with the very talented Ms. Christina Yi :)
We went for a simple, clean natural look. I liked it a lot but I think i want to
add a bit more va va voom to the eyes, like a bit of a smokier eye and perhaps a darker, thicker, liner.
I couldn't get a good angle on my hair but it came out lovely! I really liked it.
FI especially liked it but I think I want to adjust it to the side of my head, like a low side bun because I want my hair flowers to peek out :P
2nd Hair Trial:
I had another hair trial with the very sweet Christina Yi and I am liking this hair style better. We shifted the bun over to the side a little and put a flower in there :) I want to move it further towards the front of my head by maybe an inch or two more on the big day.

Yay! :D
Here is our DIY save the dates. They didn't turn out as nicely as I liked them and by the time we were done with them we changed our wedding colors so they didn't really match anymore but oh well...
The color palette for our wedding is burgundy red, champagne gold with hints of orange.

The theme I am going for my wedding is "Chinese Modern" but it is ending up feeling a little more traditional rather then modern :P
Oh well, I am still happy with it haha.
