We have a mutual friend who I was going to school with in college who was throwing a "welcome back to school" party our junior year.  Matt was one of his close friends from home whom he invited.  I spotted him as soon as he walked in the door and was definitely "intrigued" :-)  My little sister (4 years younger...4 inches taller) was there with me, since she was in town helping me move in.  Matt came by and started chatting her up, obviously pegging her as the older one... so wrong!  haha.  Needless to say, Jenny eventually steered him in the right direction and by the end of the night he asked for my number.  I didn't think he would actually call...but the next day he asked if he could see me again.  We've been together ever since...and it's always been our little joke about how we met!

"I wanted to make this night one to remember for the rest of Katherine's life. After months of blood, sweat and tears, I finally pieced together the components for a memorable evening. We started off with a delightfully, delectable dinner at the infamous Olive Garden. She had the option to order anything off the menu she wanted; appetizer, main course, and dessert. After gaining 10 lbs. each, we jiggled and wiggled our way to downtown Cleveland. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes at Playhouse Square was the highlight of the evening (as far as Katherine knew). By the way, The bling bling was still in its box bulging out of my inner coat pocket. I had nowhere else to keep it hidden. On our way out the doors of Playhouse Square lay the sparkling downtown outdoor ice skating rink. Because Katherine dressed for summer during the blizzard of '78 on this wonderful night, ice skating was not an option any longer. Therefore, we drove through the deteriorating inner city admiring the christmas lights and window decor on the main floors of the skyscrapers. It was getting late by now and I was panicking because my moment to shine on the skating rink to propose....was gone. On our way back home to Katherine's mother and father's house, Kathy had lost that sparkle in her eye. She looked like the Golum on Lord of the Rings...only a little darker on the surface. She thought I was going to propose to her on this very night before she was to leave to Uganda for a month. I then told her that I still had one more surprise for her when we got home. That lit her eyes up again. When we finally arrived home from what seemed to be the longest 30 minute drive ever, I was literally shaking in my shoes. I gave her the whole lovey dovey speel, and crippled to one knee. The rest is history...Thank God!"
