Hello, fellow brides and brides-to-be! My name is Rachel, and my fiance and I are *finally* planning our wedding. We've been together for 5 years. Our son, Phoenix, is 2 1/2 years old. We both come from lower income families, so the cost of this wedding is pretty much entirely on us, which is fine, it's not like either of us mind, it just means that we have to be super creative in making our DIY wedding day look amazing. I've found a lot of inspiration on projectwedding (and countless images on Google), and have come up with quite a few very creative ideas for our big day. Although it's a little more stressful and takes a bit more work, the thing I like most about a DIY wedding is that it allows for more room to put meaning and personality into otherwise commonplace wedding stuff. For example, our centerpieces will be handmade, and decorated with items that are congruent with our theme, *and* have heartfelt meaning. My fiance and I are very unique individuals, and the opportunity to input that individuality into our big day is very important to us, and definitely worth the extra work.
In addition to planning our wedding, and managing all the little details that go into making a wedding successful, we're also planning some fundraising ideas to help relieve some of the financial burden. We're putting together a fundraising concert for next summer, and from now until next Christmas, I'm making Christmas crafts and such to sell at a few local craft shows. We might throw in a bake sale or two, but that all depends.
I'm not really sure what else I'm supposed to put here, so I)ll just leave it at that for now. ^_^
