On September 13th, 2007, I walked into Starbucks and didn't realize that my life would change forever!! I met my future husband, Dustin, there... he gave me a hard time about ordering hot cider at a coffee shop. I told him I didn't like coffee... he told me he bet that he could find some sort of coffee that I'd like. We ended up talking til they closed the coffee shop... I went home and told my best friend/roomie that I met the guy I was going to marry. He called his best friend and said "I just met this amazing woman..." And the rest is history :)
I get to marry the most amazing man on April 4th! It's coming up sooo fast! I can't wait!
As for who we are... I'm a 24 year old audit reviewer for an insurance company. He is a 26 year old pastor at our church and he also is a project manager for a local business. He's got a beagle (Emma) and we just recently got a new puppy to add to the family (Kimber - a Weimereiner/Lab mix)! We're both laid back people, who can have fun doing just about anything...
And he was able to turn me into a coffee drinker. Who knew I'd been missing out for so long??? :)
On a very average Friday, I was just hanging out at work, waiting for the weekend to show up, and I received a gorgeous bouquet of lillies! There was a note from Dustin that said "Meet me at the place where we had out first dinner together as soon as you get off of work." So after work, I went to the restaurant and gave them my name for the reservation, the hostess just smiled and handed me another bouquet and another note! This one told me to go to the place where I first knew that I loved him... So I went over to a walkway by a pond near my apartment... and there were more flowers, and yet another note! This one said "Go to the place where we first met." Clearly something was up... he doesn't usually send me on scavenger hunts! :) When I got to the place where we met (Starbucks), something seemed weird... a lot of people got quiet as I walked past them, the staff seemed really giddy when they smiled at me, plus the lights were dimmer than they usually are. I followed a trail of rose petals into the back room where all the lights were off, but instead there were tons of candles! And of course, Dustin was there with more flowers and a beautiful proposal! I was so excited and couldn't wait to say yes, I wasn't quite able to remember everything he said (he still gives me a hard time about that!)... but I do remember the excitement and how happy I was about getting to keep him forever!
Finally picture of me in the dress!!! Better late than never ;)
Wedding tunes that we've got figure out so far:
Jadon Lavick (Spelling...?) CD for when people are being seated in the church.
Probably "Sunrise, Sunset" when the mothers are being seated (it was played at my parents wedding)
Still not sure for the bridal party... might be having our pianist/violinist play an instrumental version of "On fire" or "Only hope" by Switchfoot.
Processional: "Be Thou My Vision" (piano/violin)
Unity Candle: "Until You" (origianlly by David Barnes, FSIL is singing)
At some point FH is singing "Let Me Love You" (by Third Day)...
Recessional: "Son of a Preacher Man"
These are the invites! I'm soooo happy with how they turned out! This is just the picture from the website (Rexcraft)...
... in the sense that I just don't really care about a lot of the details. I've got the mindset that as long as Dustin is at the front of the church on our wedding day, the rest will be fine... I don't really care about how our centerpieces look, or how my bouquet turns out (I have ideas on what I like, but it could end up totally weird and I don't think I'd care), or how the BM's do their hair or what kinds of shoes or accessories people wear. Thankfully my mom and MOH care about little things and are more than happy to handle that stuff... I've got an awesome group of people who are detail oriented (THANK GOODNESS!) otherwise the only thing that we'd have figured out so far would be the cake (I've got priorities! Baked goods are one of those priorities).... Thankfully my sister is a cosmetologist so she can make sure I look halfway presentable... otherwise I'd probably show up without my hair done and only carmex and mascara for makeup! OK sometimes I exaggerate... :) I'm excited about the wedding, just not the specifics of the wedding...
I just can't seem to get as excited about the wedding when I know that right after that I have an amazing marriage to the man of my dreams! :)
I'm going w/ a half-up 'do for the wedding... my hair is stick straight on its own, but my sister has found a hairspray that actually holds curls all day! I don't want tiny/tight curls, more like looser/wavy curls... kind of like the Victoria's Secret models always seem to have... :)
Just a few ideas:
It'll be like this cake, only round w/ 3 tiers... top tier will say "happily", middle will say "ever", bottom will say "after"... between this cake and our sheet cakes, we've got 4 flavors: chocolate stout, lemon w/ raspberry filling, white, and marble (the marble tastes like chocolate chip cookies! mmmmm!)... the frosting is vanilla Italian meringue. The frosting will be finished with 'luster dust' to add a tiny bit of shimmer... I'm pretty stoked. I'm a huge fan of desserts, so the cake got me more excited than just about anything else yet! :)
"Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God." - I Peter 3:3-4
I don't have a picture of the ring on my finger, but I got these from the jewelers website....
This is my engagement band, and the diamond is from my mom's engagement ring:
And here is the wedding band! There'll be 2 of them...One on each side of the engagement ring:
Love it :)
These aren't the professional pics, just a few that one of our guests took...
Our daughter, Loren Grace, joined our family on February 3rd, 2010.... I love her so much more than I ever thought was possible, and it has been amazing to see my husband become such a wonderful dad!
