We actually dated for about 6 months about 14 years ago. Both of us were young and very much alike....both of the same opinion that "No one should marry before they are 30." So, when I finished college, we called the whole thing off and went our seperate ways...somewhat staying in touch thru mutual friends for the first few years....eventually, we lost touch.

I joined the military later than the average recruit at the age of 32. After finishing bootcamp, I was sent to Manitoba for my trades training. I arrived there early and alone seeing how no one else had yet shown up for the course, so I spent most of my night of facebook. I commented on a picture of him that was posted by a mutual friend and the next day he contacted me. After exchanging the first email, we discovered that we both joined the military in our 30's and we were both posted in Manitoba...small world!! We got together to chat about old times and discovered that despite the years, we still had very similar opinions and personalities...we started hanging out just as friends until he finally "officially" asked me out.

After my training in Manitoba, I was posted to Ontario, but he was not...:( We still try to see each other at least once a month. We email constantly and talk about 5 times a week on the phone...

During a visit last June, after cooking me dinner, he proposed with Paul McCartney singing "My Love" in the background...I was actually speechless!! Maybe it was the wine...;)...maybe it was because I could still remember us being 14 years younger and both of us talking about marriage...AND both of us saying we never wanted to get married...and maybe it was just because it seemed to perfect to be true...I finally found someone that I look forward to spending the rest of my life with.....how great is that????????? :)
