My fiance and I met on an internet site and started emailing right away. One of the things he put on his bio page was that he loved the movie Local Hero. It's this little gem of a movie that's quirky and romantic and I knew that anyone who really enjoyed that movie was someone worth getting to know better. Over the next few days we emailed back and forth with increasing frequency each day. We made a date to get together on a Friday night. I was so nervous that I didn't want to talk to him on the phone, so we didn't until moments before we met when he called me to tell me he was almost to my place. Well, needless to say, we had an amazing chemistry in person. We had dinner at an Indian restaurant and then came back to my apartment where we talked and listened to music all night. The very next day, we met again and were talking long-term relationship kind of stuff. He's an awesome person and we just keep growing together as the years go by. It's funny to think how the mutual love of a movie was the catalyst to a relationship that has only gotten better with time.
(This is kind of long so bear with me.) My mom was in town visiting for Christmas. Patrick had gotten her to take me out shopping for a Christmas tree. I was actually quite miffed because he promised to go with us and it was like 4 days to Christmas! It was around 8pm and the only tree lots I knew of were closed for the night. I was not a happy camper. So, then my mom tells me she needs some stuff at the store, so we go in. Well, she's taking her sweet time and dilly-dallying around looking at magazines and all I can do is think, "Let's gooooo already!"(I know real Christmas spirit, huh?)Then she says she needs coffee for the morning. I go back to the car and call Patrick to tell him what's going on. At this point I just wanted to get home. So, he tells me, "It's ok babe, just come back home." So, we drive back and as we park, I can see him walking up to us. I thought something was wrong, so I say, "Hey, whatsup?" with what I'm sure was a suspicious expression. He tells me he has something to show me down the driveway. We get halfway down and I can see Christmas lights on the closed garage door but I can only see the first two letters an M and an A. I think that someone has tried to spell out "Merry Christmas" but had spelled it wrong. So, Patrick inches me a little closer and he asks me to spell it out. I say,"M...A...oh my God!!" He had spelled out Marry Me in christmas lights. The he whipped out a box with the most brilliant light that was shining on the engagement ring. I was so mesmerized that I forgot to put the ring on. He told me, "You know, most girls would put that on!" I did and we had a group hug with my mom and then some champagne. He really surprised me and totally got me the ring setting I wanted and what made it even more meaningful was that the diamond was an heirloom from his mother. So sweet!
I have a brand, spanking new, Alfred Angelo gown that I bought a while ago. About a week after I bought it, I saw a post on PW from a gal who said a store near me was going out of business and they were having a blowout sale. So...I bought another dress. I am selling the 1st one for $300. That's $350 off what I paid. It's dress 1708 on the Alfred Angelo site. It's in all ivory instead of with the color accent. It's pretty, elegant gown that's cut nicely. I've made no alterations to it. It's a size 6 but really wears like a street size 8. Very slimming cut. PM me if interested and I'll send you photos.
