We met in 4th grade at Sunrise Christian Academy. Grant was "dating", however you can date in 4th grade, one of my friends. We became friends because of our last names start with the same letter we sat by each other. We stayed friends through middle school and I watched him date my best friend and break up multiple times. In high school we finally started dating. Freshman year we dated for a few months, but it didn't last, we were both so busy. Sophmore year, it didn't last. In Junior year we went to the Banquet together and then the summer came and we didn't talk much till the start of Senior year. Our first serious "date night" we went to see the movie Step Up and we started talking. It took him months to finally ask me to be his girlfriend. October 27, 2006 my little brother was playing a football game at a local high school. We ended up losing with a huge fight after so naturally I was in a bad mood. Even though everything went wrong that night Grant game me gorgeous flowers and told me how special I was to him. We've been together ever since!
We announced our date on Easter 2009 even though I didn't have my real ring yet. He had given me a promise ring, that was gorgeous, 6 months before that. We had started planning even though we weren't "officially" engaged. On May 29th, 2009 we went camping with a few friends. I was so excited to get out there, a 45 minute drive, that I was speeding. I thought that the sooner we got out there the sooner I could have some real summer fun! I decided to pass a car going 83 mph in a 60. After that I got pulled over! I didn't have my insurrance card and I was freaking out. I never have gotten pulled over before, so naturally I cried. Grant was calm as could be, of course! He wasn't getting the ticket. I got fined for no insurrance, that I could correct within 10 days, and speeding. I was ticked. My whole night was ruined!
We got to the camp site with our friends waiting on us. I decided to forget about the stupid ticket and mean cop that made me cry. A little past sunset Grant asked me to take a walk on the little beach there. We walked barefoot and talked about the night, the water, and how much we loved each other. It's too bad I'm impatient and have a big mouth. I joked with him saying, "Oh! This would be a GREAT place to pop the question. Ya think?!" I'm smooth. We started walking back to our shoes and he bends over to kiss me and got down on one knee and said he had something for me. I was a little more shocked than I imagined I'd be. I knew it was coming sometime... But he pulled out this nice little box with a gorgeous ring in it and asked me to marry him! To his suprise I didn't saw anything! I was laughing, then crying, then I just stood there staring at the ring and him. He had to ask a second time and demand an answer. Of course, I said yes! My friends knew all along! After we came back from the beach my friend was so mad that she didn't get pictures. So we walked back out there and posed for a proposal pictures.
That proposal cost me $202.00 to the state of Kansas and Butler County. Nice going me!
We ordered these from magnet street. It's a magnet. (Even though the company has magnet in it's name they sell non magnet items)
My crafty mom and I are making these:
Ignore the newspaper, thats what they dried on.
We'll hang them with clear string and cut off the extra pipe cleaner so they will catch the light and shimmer.
These are our "wedding angels"
We're attempting these next.
The wedding theme is a Cinderella Winter Wonderland. Hints the snowflakes and in January. =)
