It was my junior year at USD and one Saturday night me and my friends decided to go to Safaris, for a fun night of dancing, since we weren't 21 and couldn't get into the downtown San Diego clubs. Well, there was this one guy that was break dancing in the middle of a circle that caught my eye. For some reason, I always go for the guys that like to be the center of attention ;)We ended up dancing, I thought he was really cute but me and my girls ended up leaving the club. Later that night, a group of guys were trying to talk to us and then I heard someone yelling my name, it was the cute guy the from the club! We ended up exchanging numbers and hung out practically every day! Did I mention that trucker hats were in and we were skinny back then?
Fast forward to five years later, and most of them having lived together...
we got engaged in March!
We had been living together for about five years now and I knew Nick had been looking for a ring because he had to ask me what size I was (lol!) but didn't know when he was going to propose. We always go to Vegas for my birthday every year on March 19 and I was hoping he would do it then, because then it would be really fun to celebrate! Well, he assured me that he was not going to do it then because it would be cheezy and blah blah blah.... Was this a trick? I knew he told my mom when, and he had attempted to try and write an email to my dad. But I still didn't know when....Then, Vegas weekend arrives... He had made reservations at this really fancy and expensive! restaurant called Top of the World on top the of Stratosphere Hotel. You have to get in this elevator that goes up like 100 stories, so there is a metal detector at the bottom. I saw Nick whisper something to the security lady. Something was looking suspicious... Dinner was good but we both weren't that hungry. The restaurant was awesome, as we got a window seat and it turned around, giving you a view of the Vegas strip and the mountains. The moment finally came when Nick got down on his knee and proposed. One of the ladies who comes and takes pictures, came around at the perfect moment (later i learned was planned!) and took some pictures of the actual scene, which is an awesome keepsake.
Both the ceremony and the reception is going to be at the Dana Point Yacht Club, right in their cute little harbor.
Ceremony Location: TDB {either in the glass enclosed patio or inside by the window} haven't decided yet.
Reception: taking place in the beautiful ballroom, with window overlooking the ocean and harbor.
And our cocktail hour will take place out on the deck. I am hoping to have hanging round paper lanterns out there. Catering is provided by the Turnip Rose Catering. An orange county favorite and a bank breaker! I will have my tasting on Feb. 4rth.
Still need to come decor ideas for both.
Seaside Soiree, is the theme of the night....hopefully a sophisticated oceany feel will be present in the yacht club. My colors will be a dark midnight blue, pink (both fuschia and pale) white, gold and champagne. Here is some of my inspiration....
Next month I have to do the tasting at Rockwell's. My package comes with a cake. I think it would be really cool if since we are having an oceany theme, and we have waves on our invitation, it looked like waves going up the cakes (like this first picture). I also really want accents of gold on my cake (not real gold, of course!)
I also can't decide if I want to do a square cake or a round cake, whatever it is, I want something different. Maybe have the layers be off a little bit. This all white one below is very elegant I want each layer to be a different flavor. Yumm!!
We could also throw in some shells or starfish in there too!
This is the official cake table at the Yacht Club by the way! And much more candles will be surrounding it on a platform, hopefully not melting it!!
I'd never heard of Nina's before, but everyone on here is always showing pictures of fabulous shoes with Nina's on the labels. Well I checked out the site and they just happened to be having a 70% clearance sale! I got these, they came, and they fit!
I got them at a fabulous price. With shipping and tax, they came out to be $40. They are non returnable because they were clearance, and they fit, but I am kind of having second thoughts.... Only because there are little things about the shoes that bother me, like the part that goes around your ankle is kind of complicated and bow in the front is all bent up. But also because there are so many other ones I love like...
The sad part about it, is that it they don't even show! But you know they're there :)
{Aruba, Jamaica, Ooh I wanna take you to...}
One of the first things we started planning was the honeymoon. Nick and I finally decided on Aruba, believe me it wasn't an easy decision and I did a bunch of research on trip advisor about it. I wanted to go somewhere really beachy where we could just chill by the beach with a pina colada. I had the Caribbean in mind! Nick said he wanted to do parasailing and snorkeling and drink pina coladas :) I decided to use a travel agent for several reasons and we gave them a bunch of criteria we both wanted in our dream honeymoon, like clear blue water, fun nightlife, white sand, fun water sports, snorkeling, safe....and Aruba was recommended to us. Nick's sister had also went to Aruba for her honeymoon a year earlier and loved it, so that helped us make our decision as well!
What do you think?
Accommodations:: The lovely Bucuti boutique hotel in the palm beach area, staying in the Tara Beach Suites All thanks to Nick's parents !!!
We leave the night after the wedding, April 19th around 8 pm on a red eye for 7 days. We're soooo exicted!! It motivates me so that I will work out so I can wear a bathing suit!!
My monograms were designed by Nicole from Pink Designs. She has done several things for me, including my invitations and she is amazing! She is super fast too!
Then, my super talented photographer Natalie made me this one
This is what I want to do...
Then I want to put just a bunch of candles around the table and maybe some shells.
I haven't decided what I would do for table numbers or holders or yet.
I am doing a navy blue table cloth and then I can either do a gold or white overlay, and I was fortunate enough that my venue came with the gold chivari chairs, that will be used for the ceremony as well!
I wish I wish I wish I had gold charger plates!
I'll be honest, I have like no money in my budget for flowers, I am talking like no money $300 or less. So I need something simple, and in the colors white and light pink. Or I could no monochomatic (or however the heck you spell it!the same color!) Here's some ones I loved...
** I am not sure where I got these pics from, if
they are yours, please tell me I will credit you. I apologize!
For the guys, either something really simple with more ribbon or made a starfish bout to go with our theme!
Uplighting is one of the most important things to me! Lighting totally sets the mood. I think blue lighting would look amazing. These pictures totally inspired me...
Nicole from Pink Designs also designed our invitations and was fabulous to work with!! She blogged us, check it out...

I love how the bottom looks like waves!!!!!!
The RSVP card is my favorite by the way!!! So call me crazy but I backed the invites, attached ribbons and then I embossed the envelopes and the front of the postcards in gold. Let's just say many sleepless nights.... They just went in the mail yesterday, YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait until people get them!
I love love love my dress. Could the fact that it is very slimming have anything to do with it?!I got it from A nite on the Town in La Jolla and it is a Victoria Dress in Cream. Becca helped me and she was absolutely fabulous. Soo much better customer service than David's Bridal and affordable.
There is a cream colored flower or a blingy brooch I can purchase from them that clips on where it starts to flare out but I want to see if I can get something made from Etsy.
The dress is a corset back. I ordered a size 14 but might have to alter a little fit more a size 12. I will selling afterward, so please let me know if you are interested. Now I need to find all the accessories.
I am not a natural kind of girl. I like eyeshadow with at least 3 different colors showing. Here is some looks I love:
