I am a teacher in the Los Angeles area and grew up around here too. I have three adorable kitties and love getting crafty!
My fiance and I first met on a dating website 3+ years ago. We had both almost just about given up on the whole online dating thing...good thing we hung on for just a little bit longer! We love playing with our kitties and are total foodies! If you need ideas for food anywhere in the LA area, just ask! :)
During our relationship, we liked to joke around about penguins and how the male penguin searches for the roundest, smoothest, pebble he can find. When he gives it to the female, they become mates for life. After almost 2 1/2 years, my fiance gave
me my "pebble" at a golf course overlooking the ocean!!! I sometimes feel for him, because for the first minute or so after he proposed, I was in so much shock, I didn't say anything and just cried. Poor guy. :)
I'm still in the initial planning stages with my fiance, but the wedding theme thus far is vintage/fall (thus the moniker for my screename - duh!) The venue has a very Victorian/Edwardian/heirloom feel so I think this will work really well. We are thinking fruit for the centerpieces offset by a hurricane with a candle possibly. More to come!
Our photographer is Nick Charrow. He is amazing! Check out www.nickcharrow.com We did our shoot in two places that are about 10 minutes from each other in the Santa Clarita Valley in CA. The first location was Lombardi Ranch. Tons of toddlers and parents all over the place since it was the day before Halloween. It was a little difficult to get into the mood at first, but we got into it. The second part of the shoot was in a canyon/creek called Bouquet Creek. The light was reflecting off of the opposing mountainside making for spectacular lighting and thus, spectacular photos.
This photo was my idea since my fiance and I are very silly most of the time.
We have decided to use this for our save-the-date postcard. Our photographer has agreed to superimpose the words Save the Date and October 30, 2011 on the two pumpkins! :)
After searching high and low, I have finally found my bridesmaid dresses and I'm in LOVE!
We are getting our cake from Sweet Lady Jane's in Santa Monica, CA. It will be a 3 tier cake with the bottom tier being their famous triple berry cake, the mid tier being their seven layer chocolate cake, and the topmost tier being their lemon cake with white chocolate. I am including a picture of the cake concept that I am trying to work out with the baker. I am going to have to go with a slightly different design as the fondant flowers are too pricey. I might even just do fresh flowers with a white cake. Thoughts? :)
There is another beautiful cake that I saw in a magazine that is white with twigs at the base and beautiful fall colored fresh flowers. That might be another route to take. :)
So the above cake is what I originally wanted, but they wanted a fortune for it. Instead, I think I found something I really love which fits the color scheme and theme that has developed over time. I have moved away from vintage and gone more old world/fall. I am incorporating trees with a "Tree of Life" theme into the wedding and thought the below cake is perfect. The picture doesn't do it justice because the branches/twigs shown in the magazine pic of the cake don't show up on the pic from the website, but you can get an idea. :)
So, I found this fabulous dress by Adrianna Papell for my mom's Mother of the Bride dress! It is so flattering on her and she feels beautiful in it! I can't wait to see her in it on the wedding day! :)
I found them!! :)
