The ring that Devin gave me is more than i could ever ask for. It is everything I wanted plus more.

About five months before Devin proposed to me we went out to the local outdoor mall were we went and got lunch and looked at little shops here and there. Just the normal ones clothes, hair stuff you know normal mall things. So this mall that we went to has three jewelry stores one of which is an affiliate of the company that Devin works for. So what do i do i DRAG him into the store. I just say i want to look around but really i want to look at engagement rings, and what do i find my dream ring. A princess cut solitaire tiffany setting. It is like my dream I fell absolutely in love love love with it. I mean after seeing the ring i had dreams of it being on my finger. Little did i know that my then BF was really paying attention, he was being such a good actor, he even made sure to go to the same jewelry store to make sure it was the right one.

To my surprise he has been going to the store looking at the rings deciding on one was *the one* and he got it. My ring, my lovely ring that i will cherish for the rest of my life. I can't stop looking at it, and i couldn't have asked for anything better.

He picked my ring out all by himself and what he got was perfect. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Since about march of 2009 i have started to bug Devin about getting engaged. I thought it was going to come in June due to our anniversary, my birthday and me graduating from college all happening with in a month of each other but of course as things would happen it didn't come. So me being the girl that i am who has to know everything i just kept being like is it going to happen and when is it going to happen and Devin just kept his mouth shut.

About early Feb Devin and i realized that we where not going to be able to do anything special for valentines day together so i thought up the idea to go to the coast for the weekend together. Devin was going to be on vacation from work so being able to go on a weekend wasn't going to be a big deal. So we booked a room in Lincoln City, OR and called it good. I thought it was just going to be a nice weekend to celebrate a be-lated valentines day and celebrate our Anniversary of meeting which happened to fall on that weekend. Little to my knowledge Devin had other plans for the weekend. I had a feeling it might happen this weekend but that was just me being me like i had been over the past year or so.

Saturday 2-27-2010 was the day He proposed. It started off pretty normal on my side of things got up at the normal time. But Devin who tends to be a late sleeper woke up with me and was all jazzed to start doing things. Go to breakfast go for a walk on the beach then go for a hike. Since i had and still am on this healthy lifestyle i was totally ok with it. So we go to breakfast come back to the hotel room get all bundled up to go for a walk on the beach (it is BTW poring down rain with a tsunami warning on all the beaches) He brings his back which is a little odd but i think nothing of it but still it is a little bit on the odd side. I end up jogging a head of him at some point on the beach and is like should i do it now? But he doesn't. After we get done with the beach we try to go for a hike which when you don't really know where to go for a hike can be a little difficult. So we drive north on 101 in search of a place to go hiking, which we don't end up finding because the trails are all closed. This almost causes a fight between us because he wants to propose i have no idea what is going on so I recommended we go back to the hotel room. We end up driving north a little bit more and I see Neskowin is coming up on the left and that is where proposal rock is. So just recommend we go look at it because I have heard it is really pretty. So pull up to the park and the sign says "Beach Closed 10AM-6PM due to Tsunami warning" Devin says screw it we are going on the beach so we go. We begin to start to walk along the beach and I try to put my hand in his pocket and he freaks out and pulls away from me of course I commented on it and me being nosey like I am bugged him about what was in his pocket. Once that happened he quickened his pace to get around the corner away from the people on the beach.

Once we got around the corner that was the moment he turned to me, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so ironic that he ended up proposing at proposal rock because that is so not us and that is so not him.

Long story short we got engaged at proposal rock on a closed beach in a tsunami warning.

FI's Version of the engagement:

Devin proposed to Alysha 4 years after the two of them met. For the six to eight months prior to the engagement, Alysha had been hinting at the fact that this was probably the next step. What she did not know was Devin was already planning t o propose he just needed some time to save up for the ring that she deserved. Devin took a week off from work to buy the ring and plan the proposal. When Alysha suggested going to the beach for the weekend Devin quickly agreed knowing it would be the perfect place. With the ring purchased and hidden in about three pairs of socks the two headed to the coast.

The morning of the proposal Devin woke up eager and nervous. They watched a little news that morning and saw that there had been a rather large earthquake in Chile and the Oregon coast was under a tsunami warning. Devin had picked out a hike for the two of the to go on, but after breakfast it was typical Oregon coast winter weather and Devin got nervous that Alysha would not want to go on the hike. Devin’s enthusiasm convinced Alysha to go. They found their hike, but it had been closed due to tsunami threat. Alysha was convinced that nothing was going to be open and suggested going back to the hotel. Devin, increasingly desperate that this point, pleaded to keep looking for some kind of hike. Alysha saw that the y were close to Nesquinn, which is home to proposal rock.
Even though it is not really in Devin’s nature to propose at proposal rock he had run out of options. The strolled up the beach, which of course was also closed. Devin decide d it was worth the risk and they made their way onto the beach. Devin had his hand in his pocket holding the ring and Alysha tried to go into the pocket to hold his hand. Devin yanked away and knew it was now or never. He stopped turned towar d and her and got down on one knee.

*This is the story my FI wrote for our wedding website**

Our Duckie Story photo 1

Alysha and Devin met on March 27th 2006 at a pinning for Josh and Nicki Salenger. Josh was a fraternity brother of Devin’s and Nicki was a sorority sister of Alysha’s. It was at the after party that Devin went up to Alysha to strike up a conversation. They found out that Devin has taken a calculus class that Alysha was struggling with and Devin offered to help here out sometime. At some point in the evening Alysha informed Devin that she did have a boyfriend, but Devin walked her home anyways offering his coat to her on the rainy February night. A few days later Alysha called looking to take Devin up on his offer to help her with her Calculus homework. She was now single.

After a few months of hanging out and enjoying each other company, Devin decided he did not think he wanted to be in any kind of relationship. He was wrong. After only a week Devin decided he missed Alysha a lot more than he thought was possible. He sent a FaceBook message that was promptly returned. The two met outside her dorm and decided to go for a walk. Five hours and many laps around campus later, the two of them were definitely on the same page.

That summer Alysha and Devin spent almost every day together. Alysha must have been crazy with love to spend the summer in Devin’s dingy fraternity house. The following school year Alysha got her own apartment and Devin spent an equal amount of time over there. When it came time for her to move apartment’s the two of them knew they would live together. They never even had a conversation about it.

Devin graduated college, but wanted to stay down in Eugene while Alysha finished her degree. The job market in Eugene had other plans. Devin moved up to Portland for work, but the two kept their relationship going stronger than ever. It was a hard for both of them, but they knew it would only be temporary. It was not long before Alysha finished here degree and promptly moved back in with Devin. They have both settled into post college life very nicely. Alysha currently works as an office assistant at her stepdad’s drilling company and Devin is an assistant manager at a local grocery store.

This past weekend i was finally able to make it out to the Oregon Coast. Over the past couple years i have been thinking about where i want to get married and it finally hit me about exactly a year ago that i wanted to get married at the Oregon Coast and be able to get ready with all of my Bridesmaids at my grandparents beach house.

After some searching online all i could find were places that were over priced and did offer exactly what i wanted. After finding a website that listed all venues at the Oregon coast i finally narrowed my choices down to two. It was either the Chamber Hall in downtown cannon beach or necoxie creek in Gearheart. I had seen pictures of both venues and i thought they were amazing. But seeing them is really what made my decision. The barn was amazing but it was going to take a ton of work and effort to bring the event together and i think it was a little to homely for my idea of what i wanted. Then we went and saw the chamber. It was cute, small, and allowed for everything i wanted.

Pics of the Venue undecorated from when i looked at it.

I grew up going to cannon beach every summer. My family has a beach house there so every summer it was where i went with my grandmother. So it holds a very special place in my heart. I'm super excited to be able to get ready at our beach house then walk from the house to the dunes where i will be united with my best friend. I'm not sure where it will be on the beach. Ideally would like to have it on the dunes with haystack rock in the background. We will see if that works, the city may not allow me to have 125 people stand on the dunes.

We have decided to do magnets for our STD's. We are doing it through Magnetstreet.com here is what my design is going to look like.

Save The Dates photo 1

I think we are going to order them and send them out within the next month or we are going to wait until January we are not sure yet. Any thoughts of when to send out save the dates? We maile our STD's out right before thanksgiving to give enough time as well as to ensure it didn't get mixed up to much in the holiday craziness.

Using this template and using edge scissors and a hole punch as well. The paper i'm using is the same paper i have used for my invites. They will be black on the outside and alternating pink and green on the inside.

For our wedding cake we are going to do a simple 6 inch round cake 1 layer.

I'm also doing custom Champagne Flutes for my BM's as well. They are going to be so much fun to use while we are getting ready at the salon and toasting to amazing times to come!

I saw a post on here from a page. **sorry i can't remember who it was when i do remember i will put them on here as a source**

But i bought the letters I D O to spell out "I DO" and i thought they would make sure decor for either the cupcake/cake table or the sign in table. I'm not sure which one but I'm in love with how they turned out.

I think the total cost for them was 3.45 per letter and .85 cents for the paint in my color which i'm sure i will use again.

This is my DIY card box. I really loved Kristen_Tater's card box and i wanted to do something similar.

I searched and searched for the right box but i couldn't find it until i got friendly with wonderful people at PaperZone!! Where we found a random box that they gave me for free! You can't be that

This is what i started with:

DIY Card Box photo 1

  • I took the flap that is on the sides and taped it to the inside to make the outside of the box flat.
  • cut a hole in the top of the box that measures 6.5 X 1 inch.
  • I wrapped the box like they do in the movies with the top separate from the bottom. I used this tutorial
  • Topped the box with my choice of paper.
  • Wrapped the ribbon on the top half of the box and the same with the bottom
  • Then laid the final piece of pink paper on top of the ribbon and green paper.
  • I then flipped the box lid over and cut with an exacto knife the hole for where the cards go

Here is the Finished Product(still missing letters and the daisy):

DIY Card Box photo 2DIY Card Box photo 3

I'm going to add a white Gerber Daisy on the top left corner and have wooden painted letters with Cards on the upper right hand corner i just need to buy them first.

I added two gerber daisies on the top right hand of the the box with the letters card in an arch above the slit.

Total Cost:

Paint: $.10 Already Had *Bought for "I DO" letters for cupcake Table ($.89)

Pink Ribbon: $.26 I used about 4 feet of it (Using for Masons Jar and invites) $4.99 for 25 yards

White Ribbon: $.13 I Used about 2 feet of it(Using for mason Jars and Invites $4.99 for 25 yards

Pink Paper: $.39

Green Paper: $.78

Butcher Paper: $.90

Box: Free

Tape: Already Had

Letters: Unsure yet I guess $4.00 total

Gerber Daisy: $4.00 (still unsure)

Box total Cost: $10.09

I had so much left over paper from making my invites and various other paper product it hought i might as well make my thank you cards as well.

I made a new Monagram using this how to guide again and printed it out and cut the paper to the correct size.

DIY Thank you Cards photo 1

I then cut my cardstock paper in half hambuger style then folded those in half so they made 5.5" X 4" Cards then taped the monogram on the front of the folded card stock to make this.

First of all i know we all say it BUT ITS FINALLY MY TURN!!! I'm going to walk down the Isle at the end of next week on beautiful Canon Beach and become a Mrs!!!! While yes i have been trying to think of what i'm going to say in my Sign off for i think the entire month of July and i think have written at least 4 versions of it. I think really in all honestly This is the one! i think :/

I honestly don't know how to thank you ladies for all the help you have given me. I would have never known that you need to have two garters, known how to make rhinestone hoodies for my BM's, known that having cupcakes and a cake is totally doable along along with having cute "I DO" letters at the cake table, how to make hand made invites, how to word my invitation/RSVP/STD and as well countless others things for the wedding.

I know that my BM's, MOH, GM, FI, MOTB, FOTB, FMIL, FFIL and Wedding guest secretly thank you as well **even if they don't know it** because you guys saved me from my Bridezilla moments where i wanted to rip my hair out because my i felt my BM's didn't care, my father was being selfish or some other wedding craziness in sued. You girls listen to me without judgement. You are all my unofficial BM's and thank you for making my in person Bridal party a much happier one.

A big thank you to the following sorry if i miss anyone Adamsapple, Misshammy, jenndover, Fromcoldtofire, michellesmommy, Kristen_Tater, ridegrl1, lorna247, Bethiekayleen and so many more i just can pin point them our right now. You ladies have been with me throughout my planning process and who knows what i would have done without my sookie :)

At the end of next week my big day will have officially arrived!!! I feel like i have been planning forever and it feels so surreal that it is almost here! I was going to post my Sign off on Friday or saturday morning the day of/daybefore the wedding but i honestly think i will forget about doing it with all of the craziness that is going on. nail appointments, hair appointments, family, driving running errands who knows what else. I'm so excited to see all of my family and see all of my hard work come together. I didn't want to forget signing off to you wonderful ladies!!!

Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart. I love getting on the boards and reading about what is going on in everyone's lives and reading up on how your wedding plans are going and seeing all of your dreams come true for your big day and you know i will be back on the boards after i get married because i just can never get enough of P-Dub! Plus we all know i will get on the boards here and there over the next couple days **of course i have to post my pics from my final fitting tonight** because lets be honest i'm so close to hitting that 4K mark and i'm full blown P-Dub addict!

See you on the flip side as a Mrs!!!

Much love!!

Alysha

Hey ladies i'm back as Mrs!!!! It was a wirlwind of a week and it all went by so fast! First i just want to give a quick thank you to everyone that sent me toasts and PM's they were so sweet and yes i did get on my phone and check them real quick and they most definitely put a smile on my face!!!!

Wednesday July 27th:

I had to work a half day which i'm not gonna lie was totally hard to get through my brain was on so many other things that week and it was just tough to get anything done!!! I went to my nail appointment and ended up getting a ton done in town before heading out to the coast. I as well found out the day before that my sister was going to be in town so we actually go to out to the coast on Wednesday together and do lots of sisterly things that we don't normally get to do and had a total blast. We scored with traffic and the weather was fantastic! The only thing we had to do was get the garage organized and put everything in its place of what needed to get done!

Thursday July 28th:

We had to get up early and get ready because the dedication for my grandmothers bench in Cannon Beach was that morning so we had to be up to go be a part of that. The dedication started at 11:00 and i had my Hair trial at 2:00 20 minutes away and my one of my BM's was going to get there sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 and i as well had to pick up my salt water taffy. It was seriously wam bam thank you mam with all of the stuff we had to take care of. We got to my Hair trial and i just have to say thank you jesus my BM was there bc if she wasnt i don't think my hair would have turned out well at all and it would have looked like Big texas hair :P after the hair trial we dealt with some drama with my dad which looking back on it wasn't that big of deal and i just blew them way out of proportion and i was even able to play match maker with my cousin and my BM :P After we got back from the trial we drank lots and lots of wine and assembled all of the boxes for guest gift then went back to drinking more wine when the rest of my BM's arrived. When they are all got to the house i gave them all their BM's presents just so we could wear them over the next couple days :)

Friday July 29th:

All of the girls got up and we went out to breakfast then went to go to our Pedicure/Nail appointments. That was a blast and i even got a last minute tanning session in and one of my BM's got spray tanned and i'm not going to lie she totally looks like JWowww from the jersey shore it looked great it was just funny how dark she got :P I'm not going to lie though i had a couple Bridezilla moments at the salon when i felt my sisters weren't giving me any respect but again looking back at it now i totally get that they are little teenagers and hanging out in the salon isn't really the most entertaining thing. The salon was great we had two girls doing everything for us and they  kept serving mimosa after mimosa and even had a meat and cheese platter for us for food it was amazing!!

After we all got done with our nail appointment we went back to the beach house and got ready for the Rehearsal and the RD. It was so much fun doing our make up, people were running in and out of the house and it was basically girls being girls taking a million and one photos.

The rehearsal went great although my stepdad did miss it which was kinda of a bummer. We had about 2 hours to kill between the RD and rehearsal so all just hung out drank and most of the boys went back to where they were staying to shower and get ready. When we all headed out i did make one mistake i decided to ride on the way to the RD with my mother. That was a big big mistake, we had about a 30 minute car ride to the RD and my mother was a little drunk. bc of this little thing my mom has a tendency to turn into a not so nice person when she drinks. In the car we are about 5 minutes away from the restaurant and my mom decides to show a picture of my wedding dress to the backseat of the car where my DH and i were sitting. I flipped out and called her a F***head for showing of my dress my mom then decided to yell at me cuss at me and various other thing were said as well and as soon as we got the restaurant i didn't even wait for them to park i got out and walked in side crying. My BM's immediately got my a beer and got me a shot after that things got a ton better and in the end my mom is the one who looked like the bad guy not me and you wouldn't believe who was on his best behavior.... my father of all people :P

The RD was fantastic we drank lots ate lots of good food and got some amazing pictures on the dock over looking the river in Astoria. After the RD i had another little melt down over some comments my cousin had made but again looking back she said those things to get to me bc she was the jealous one that i was getting married, i had graduated before her and i was staying at her parents house and I was doing this all before i was 25 she is 28 and is no where near any of that. We went to the house where the GM's were staying and the party was in full swing i of course had to leave at 11:59 according to the BM but DH and i ended up leaving before that so we could do our nightly good night routine which helped me fall asleep that much faster!

Saturday July 30th: *wedding day*

I woke up around 7:00 to my BM's jumping on the bed saying your getting married today your getting married today and it was the perfect way to start the day. My MOH went and got Pastries at one of the best bakeries in town, we ate those, showered and Blow dried our hair. All of the GM's arrived at the house at 7:30 to get all of the stuff for the recption and that went without a hitch until we realized they needed the iPod and i hadn't uploaded it yet. Woops :P so as i was trying to upload the iPods my computer decided to give the spinning wheel what a perfect timing really :P it all worked out in the end but still it was me sitting on the comp while one of the BM's was blow drying my hair totally a scene out of a movie.

After everything got loaded into the car us girls got into the car and headed off to the salon. we all got our hair done they all turned out fantastic and the ladies in the salon were amazing. They even let us basically take over the room and do our make up. I did three of the BM's make-up and my own *i didn't even do a trial with my make up bc the lady doing it was basically doing what i could have done myself* :P and on top of the hair appointments we got done 3 hours a head of schedule. it was like all of the stuff that had gone wrong the day made it a perfect day for today. We were so ahead of schedule we had enough time to go get lunch at a near by restaurant that had a 20 minute wait and go down to the grocery store to get some beer and champagne lol. Everything was falling into place. at 2:00 everything began to pick up. The photographer got there my wonderful DOC got there with the flowers and they looked AMAZING!!! She went above and beyond what i had asked of her :)

Fast forward to getting into my gown we began to run into some problems the top of my dress was too big so my straps kept falling off my shoulders and i'm going to lie it began to get me a bit panicked but my mom showed up and was like we are stuffing that dress honey :P so we had to stuff my dress with paper napkins to make sure it could get filled out. not gonna lie one of the funniest moments of the day.

The ceremony went great the weather was perfect but..... the officient couldn't for the life of him pronounce my name right. he was corrected 10 million times by my mom and my MOH and the BM it was too funny. BC all i could do was just laugh, i'm sure everyone thought i was drunk but still it makes something funny to look back on.

The venue was delightful it was more then i could ask for. I walked in and it was just an OMG moment. The food was delicious and yes i did get time to eat. All of the of the little things went by so fast and it makes me wish we had videotaped some of the moments. During the cutting of the cake i was feeding my DH and one of the GM's stuffed the cake in his face definitely one of those funny moments. The speeches were great my uncle who was the MC of the night even had the speeches continue on from what was planned which was a great surprise bc i got to hear a great speech from my Aunt who is 7 month younger then i am. I was so pleased when the dance music came on bc it was one of the things i was looking forward to most! I danced and danced and even ended up on the floor at some point.

Like everyone says it went by so quickly. I loved every minute of the event and i wouldn't change it for the world!!!

I'm Finally a Mrs!!!!

*i'm putting pics up in my BIO as we speak so please go there for all of my non pros for the event!!!!*

Heres a sneak peak at my pics!!!
