Paul and I have known each other for 6 years this past July and come New Years we will have been dating for six years. We met in the most unlikely of places; online in a chat room. Who would have thought that a simple hello typed on a screen would have turned into six years together and marriage. We have both been college students while dating and both graduated with teaching degrees in the spring of 07. I have just started my 2nd year teaching Kindergarten and Paul taught ELL his first year and is up for a new ELL job right now. Our relationship has been long distance and we both look forward to being able to spend all our time together. We have been seperated by two hours now for six years. We have not been able to spend as much time together as we would like but we make time for each other when we can. In eight months we will be come husband and wife.
We had been talking about getting married for a while. We would talk about it and then not talk about it for a while. So we made plans to go to Murfreesboro on a little two day trip. So he brought up that he had been looking at a ring and said that it was a pear shape. We discussed the shape because I had always told him that I wanted a simple round diamond. He thinks that round diamonds are boring and wanted to get something a little more us. So we decided to go into a Kay's Jewelers to just look around so I could look at a pear shaped diamond. We started looking around and a sales lady came over and we asked to look at a pear shaped diamond to which she replied "Oh, I am sorry we do not have any in would you like to look at something else?" We thought what the harm. So we looked at several different things and really saw nothing that just jumped out at us. Then we looked at marquise shaped diamond that had diamond bands on each side and it was all made in one ring. We looked at it and then put it back. Then we looked around some more and went back to that ring. It was on sale that was a plus, it also looks like it has a built in band which means I wouldn't have to get a band that saves money too. We were not sure though. We decided to think on it. So the next day before we headed home he said lets do it. We went back to the store where the ring was still on sale and we were in the process of writing up the sale when this lady walks into the store to have her ring cleaned and the stones checked. She asked our sales lady if we could use some of her gift certificates because she would never use them all before they expired. The lady said sure and figured up how many we could use. This stranger who did not know us from a hole the ground gave use $500 in gift certificates. Needless to say Paul was happy about that! So we bought the ring and they said it would be up to 7 days before it came back sized correctly. Are you kidding me? How was I supposed to wait 7 days? Of course, there was nothing I could do about that so I waited for 7 days. On the way home Paul says "I guess at some point I still have to propose to you officially right?" And well you know exactly what I said YES! So later that night he got down on one knee when I was least expecting and said those four BIG words....Will you marry me? Oh and by the way I said YES!!!
THE RING
So we finally set the date.
June 13, 2009
And the planning begins...
After going back and forth on where to have the ceremony and reception for several weeks, I explained to Paul that I really wanted to get married in my church. He was very understanding and agreed.
So the ceremony will take place at Harmony Baptist Church in Adams, TN.
After the ceremony it will be time to party!
The recpetion will be at Waterstreet Event Center in Clarksville, TN.
(I will post pictures of both locations later)
Harmony Baptist Church is my home church. I grew up in this church and I am so excited to be getting married there. When I was a child probably 4 or 5 my Aunt got married in the church and I was a flower girl. I will be the second girl in the family to marry there. I have a picture of the church somewhere around here as soon as I find it or take another one I will post it. It is a small country church. We are going to see how many people we can pack in there!

THE DRESS:
This is my dress. I got it at David's Bridal. Got a good deal on it and just really like it. I made my veil and shoes and it matches them really well with the bead work and a little bit of bling! That is not me in the pic! The FI has the link so he will have to wait to see me on June 13th!
THE SHOES
I had originally made my shoes but decided to do a little color with my shoes and found these for a great deal!
Clarksville does not have a huge selection when it comes to reception venues. My brother happened to notice a building being renovated and sign that had been put up in front of it. Waterstreet Events Center! He called with the number and we now have a new venue. It is not open yet and probably will open some time in January. Once they have completed the renovations I will be going back to take a look. I have some pictures that I will share of what it looks like right now during the renovations and use your imagination with this one. It is going to be over 8000 sq ft total. We will have so much room we will not know what to do with ourselves! The other location we were going to be packed in there and I want to be able to move around and still have our dance floor. My pictures are on my desktop computer at home and I will post them as soon as I can. Also... as soon as renovations are complete I will post updated pics.
This is the front entrance. They are going to up up a really nice front door.
This is towards the back of the main room. The whole back wall has windows looking
out over the river.
This is the back room where we will have the rehersal dinner and also where the food will
be for the reception.
This is part of the mulit-leveld deck on the back overlooking the river.
One of the things I really love about this place is that it is on the water. There is a 2-tiered deck on the back and the whole back wall is nothing but windows so you get a great view of the water. There is also a seperate room in the back where we will have the food set up. So the main room will be nothing more than the tables and dance floor. There are lots of ideas running through my head for decorations. I have been making lots of list trying to get myself organized!
Pictures coming soon.
I am a DIY girl and have decided that we will be doing the flowers as well. We played around with some flowers several weeks ago and here is what we came up with...
Ceremony Flowers
There will be two of these arrangements on columns at the church.
I am still thinking about what I can do for pew decorations or possibly not even have pew decorations.
Jr. Bridesmaid bouquet (going ot have 6 gerbers instead of the 4 shown here)
Bridesmaid bouquets
my bouquet
Reception Centerpieces
I have three different styles of vases and there is a different arrangement for each style. I have added more tables since we did these so now I am trying to decide if I want to come up with two more types of arrangements or do just candles on those tables.
All of the arrangements from the chruch will also be brought to the reception venue.
Programs: after going back and forth on if I was going to even have them I decided to sit down and see what I could come up with.
Save The Dates: I have not made my mind up on this one yet. I am pretty sure that I will be sending them out but there are so many cute ones out these days. Right now I am leaning towards these from Oriental Traiding they are simple but still cute.
Invitations: I have not made my mind up on this one yet either.
I have picked my photographer and have her booked.

Here is the inspiration for my cake...
The difference for my cake is: it will be 5 tiers, have blue and yellow ribbon, will not have the bow or pin, will have a monogram at the top with flowers and might have some flowers on some of the tiers.
I will post several things as I go along about plans for the recpetion.
On each table there will be two baskets that hold crackers, cheese & grapes. This will eliminate the cheese & cracker tray from the buffet table. I just thought it looked nice and gave other something to snack on into the evening.
I worked on the layout/mock up of my cupcake flags today and here they are...
I went last night and did a hair trial...
before
We are only going to chnage a few things: it will be fuller in the back on the day of, and we are going to make it a little bit higher, and in the front have a little sweep.
