Planning a San Francisco Wedding from Texas!
Our wedding will be in April 2009, and we couldn't be more excited! We are getting married in Lafayette, CA, but we live in Dallas, TX! We moved here from Orange County in 2006. The groom's family lives near Chico, CA, so the Bay area was a nice compromise, since we didn't want to get married in TX or make our guests come out here either, as most of them live in CA!
We can't wait, but April will roll around sooner than expected!
(note: as of April 2010, we have returned to living in Orange County! whoo hoo!)
We had our engagement picture photo shoot with our photographer, Diana of Diana Kay Photography. We were lucky to find someone who works both in Dallas and in the San Francisco Bay Area! These were taken in downtown Dallas.
And a few more from the album below:
Our ceremony and reception will be at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa!
We snapped these on our visit to the hotel, and our florist Anne Mendenhall brought over a centerpiece too!
We're also having this photobooth, provided by our DJ's, Denon & Doyle....it prints out a "tear and share" strip, so guests can keep one and leave a copy for us! It also has a monitor on top, so people outside can see what's going on inside!
After ordering 4 different samples, we FINALLY settled on this one. We both love it!

Hair flower: DIY
Its Jim Hjelm, we lovingly call this dress "Pockets," because it has...you guessed it....POCKETS! It also has an attached sash that wraps around and ties in back. My Matron of Honor will definitely get many more uses out of Pockets....just think of all the cute cardigans/pashmina's/shoes that will go with Pockets! (um....Pockets will NOT be worn with white shoes....but are pictured below for demonstrative purposes only!) Hot Pockets!!
update: Pockets has been ordered and is officially on the way!!!
update December: Pockets is here!!! She will be fitted in Feb!!
update Feb: She got Steven Fanci's to wear with the dress!!
Love Knots by Vera Wang...we also have the matching cake serving set.
We named our tables after famous San Francisco 49ers and Giants:

Here's the first fitting....
and the final fitting...with my "something blue" monogrammed on the lining...
(I think the sash will be tied in back, or on the side with a brooch, haven't figured it out quite yet, but it will not be a bow on the side as pictured, I have no idea why I did that!)
I purchased this plain white zip-up hoodie (and matching shorts) from Old Navy, and then had my NEW last name embroidered on the back at a local shop.
We got our license in Martinez, CA....at the Contra Costa County Recorder's office....
with Lisa Zomer....everything came out great...just making a few tweaks for day-of...and we're all set!
After getting the license, we went around the corner, literally, to LeGateau Elegant bakery in Martinez for our tasting/cake designing....
the winners are: (2 flavors, alternating tiers)
Swedish Princess - Rich vanilla genoise with velvety custard and sweet, red raspberry preserves, and almond paste filling
Frangelico Mousse - Alternating chocolate and vanilla cake layers brushed with Frangelico liqueur, filled with bittersweet chocolate mousse
the actual cake:
I ordered this from Paloma's Nest (on etsy.com)....I had her put the text along the edge.....It says "to have & to hold 04.17.2009"
From Etsy seller "Molly and Mom" http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5895540
They were presented to our parents at the rehearsal dinner in these boxes (from The Container Store), I added the ribbon and our monogram label.
We purchased Buckeyes (chocolate-dipped peanut butter balls) from www.oldtimecandy.com, and put them in cello bags, tied with black ribbon, and added our monogram on an ivory label:
We aren't those people who dictate EVERY song to our DJ, he did a wonderful job...but here are the "special" songs we used for our ceremony and reception:
