We are both from California and will be married there this summer but since this is our last month in NYC while FI finishes up law school, right now we are just trying to enjoy the city and see our friends before we have to pack up and leave!
FI and I met in NY, which is crazy because we live about forty minutes away from each other in CA. Our parents even have mutual friends! Still, we never even knew about each other until we moved to NY to start law school. It was at one of our first law school events when a mutual acquaintance introduced us. The beginning of law school is a whirlwind what with everybody trying to get to know everybody else, but I knew within the first five minutes of meeting FI that I would never see him again! He says now he was just trying to make friendly conversation but I felt like he was glaring at me the whole time. Who could have guessed that we would end up engaged a year later?
My future sister in law and I just picked the flower girl dress! It is adorable and I am excited about it. I wish I could have been a flower girl when I was younger :).
We fostered SEVEN dogs in ONE semester of law school. It was insane trying to keep up with work and school while we exercised and bathroom'ed and cleaned up after our dogs while living in an apartment in the city. (THIS is what we were doing instead of planning our wedding!). A lot of the dogs additionally had some serious socialization or housetraining issues, but we loved them all. When we set up house we definitely want to foster a few more dogs before we adopt.
The wedding stationery is my pride and joy. I painted all of the artwork for the save the dates, invitations, thank you cards, programs, table numbers and place cards (I'll post pictures soon). FI did all of the photography and technical work required to translate paintings into print and I will be eternally grateful. I had no idea how much work is involved in making sure a photograph of a painting is true to life. He probably spent more time on the stationery than I did!
We used Vista Print because they had the best prices and it also turns out that they have excellent customer service, but BE CAREFUL! We had to get the invitations printed twice because there were black splotches on the invitation edges. We had similar problems with the response cards and thank you cards. I will post a more detailed review of Vista Print (and all my vendors) soon.
