The Proposal:
We got engaged on April 17, 2009 at Disneyland, actually just outside of Disneyland - near the Disneyland Hotel, outside of Hook's Pointe restaurant. I can't say I knew for sure that it was coming, but I had an idea, as I knew he had bought the ring and he was constantly looking around (he told me later he was trying to find a calm "alone" spot so we wouldn't have a million people watching us). He finally found it at this gazebo, as he got down on one knee and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me! All I could say was "Shut up!" I was so happy and surprised. He also made sure to call my dad the day before to ask for his blessing!
The Wedding:
Originally we were planning for a December 2011 wedding so that he could finish his last year of law school; however, we have already dated for six years and I can't wait any longer! So, we moved it up to March 2010! Which means I had to change my winter wonderland wedding ideas to spring garden wedding ideas - very exciting! So we are thinking of: yellow, grey, a little cream and a little blue for colors, and lots of floral, bird and butterfly motifs.
The Reception:
We are having our reception at the Portofino Hotel and Yacht Club in Redondo Beach. Beautiful views, and super cute and newly remodeled hotel.
We went to the menu tasting recently and everything was delicious!
The Dress!
Yay! Exactly what I wanted: lace, romantic, sweet-heart neckline with a simple silhouette, and a little feel of antique something! I can't wait to get it in October/November, I am going to have to hold back the urge to wear it all the time!
Bridesmaids' Jewelry and Shoes:
So I am going with a "Slate" colored, strapless with a sweet-heart neckline, cocktail length dress from Aria for the bridesmaids (style 107 - pink dress in picture). Originally, I had really wanted a dove-grey colored dress, but I am finding it almost impossible to find something that color with a strapless sweet-hert neckline.
As far as shoes go, I found bright yellow patent leather heels for $17 from Kmart! So awesome, and they are actually cute and comfy - the heel is chunkier, almost wedge-like, so it is more stable and supportive. I also got them yellow flip-flops for the reception - in case their feet start to hurt.
For jewelry I really wanted to do something different and big, so I got three styles of necklaces and they'll choose which style they want to wear (I have seven bridesmaids and got two of each, except for the pearl necklace - three of those).
