My husband, Michael, and I met through e-harmony in January, 2008. We were both widowed, having lost our spouses to cancer. We knew that we were meant to be a couple the first weekend we spent together. Geographically, we were not the best match, though. Michael lived on the East Coast (Maryland) and my home was in Southern California! However, we overcame that obstacle and quickly settled on establishing our home in Southern California. Mostly, this decision was based on our children. We both came to the marriage with four children...that makes eight total...and Michael already had grandchildren! Three of the Gannon children were grown and out of the house and I had one grown and out of the house. With that, we set our plans to marry in May, 2008. We had a spectacular wedding! All of the children were invited to be our attendants: four groomsmen and four bridesmaids. We both had our best friends stand up for the marriage. It was beautiful! And we had exceptional assistance and vendors who came together to make our wedding day a dream come true. The site for our vows was the Los Angeles Cathedral. It was a 3:00 pm wedding with reception that followed at the Marriott downtown. Kerim at My Wedding Blooms did a phenomenal job with the flowers (www.myweddingblooms.com) and my entertainment was top notch - the one and only Allen Layton (www.aaadjservice.com)! I am in the process of reviewing all of my vendors on this site. There is one person who deserves all of the kudos, though (besides by best friend / MOH). Christine Greenberg was invaluable and irreplaceable as the most amazing wedding planner one could imagine. I can't imagine attempting to pull off a wedding the size that we had in a three-month period. Thanks to all of these people (and more), Michael and I had an experience that we cherish and will remember forever! We are now settled into our new home together, with four teenagers and a deep love that grows every day.
