These stories of how we met are from our website www.christophercraigweb.com/wedding.
Chris' Story:
It’s was a cold dark night for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Tubberville and the Auburn Tigers had just beaten Bama for the sixth straight year. Lara had gotten put on call that night and was out with Stefanie, Olivia, & Kevin at Sam’s sports bar watching the game. Stefanie was rubbing it her face and that put Lara into a horrible mood…until she saw me
Like a beacon of light in her dark time I entered Sam’s sports bar.
I had been out at the Predators hockey game on a date. A date that at the time I thought had gone fairly well, but I can’t even remember her name now. I guess Lara made me forget her easily.
The football game had ended and I was just arriving at Sam’s to meet up with Kevin and Chris Brown. Lara was sitting at the table across from me and we chatted it up for awhile. The night ended and I somehow left Sam’s without even getting her number.
I didn’t forget Lara and was bugging Stefanie every chance I could get about giving me her number. Stefanie never supplied it to me, despite her claim of hooking us up.
I ended up finding Lara on MySpace and we began chatting again. She had to go out of town and it was quite some time before we actually went out on our first date.
We would finally meet up again to see The Dempsey’s, a band in the Walk the Line movie, playing at a show in Nashville. To help make Lara comfortable we had Stefanie, Kevin, Margo, and some others at the show too.
It was a great date and we spent the date dancing and talking until early in the a.m. I even helped her put up 900 Alabama ornaments on her Christmas tree.
From that point on our dates got better and better and our love for one another grew stronger. We’ve shared vacations, tears, fights, makeups, family events, and now an engagement. I love her and I can’t wait for more.
Lara's Story:
It was Saturday, November 27th, and a quick phone call would end up changing my life forever. I had been sleeping all day because I was scheduled to work that night but was awoken at 5pm by my wonderful charge nurse asking if I would like to be on call. I gladly accepted because it was the night of the Alabama-Auburn game and I was positive that there was no way Tuberville could beat us again. I ended up making plans to go watch the game at Sam’s Sports Bar with Stefanie and her boyfriend Kevin. Knowing that Kevin was a Tennessee fan and Stefanie an Auburn fan, I knew I would need reinforcements….Olivia! So off we went to cheer on the Tide.
Four quarters later, it was six in a row for the Auburn Tigers and I was about ready to call it a night. But Stefanie convinced me to stay for another drink and in walked Kevin’s roommate, Mr. Christopher Craig. We started talking and I thought it was going pretty well but at the end of the night he never asked me for my phone number. I figured he just wasn’t interested and moved on. The next week, I was in New York visiting a friend when I got a MySpace message from Chris. He explained how he had been trying to get my number from Stefanie but wasn’t having much luck. A few messages and phone calls later we decided Friday December 7th would be our first official date.
We went to Rippy’s with Kevin, Stefanie, and Margo to see the Dempseys play. Everyone else had come along for support but we clearly didn’t need it. We spent the entire night talking and dancing without paying much attention to anyone else. Chris took me back to my house and we stayed up late drinking hot chocolate and decorating my Christmas tree. It’s kind of cheesy, I know, but it is also a well known fact that I LOVE Christmas! We really hit it off, but it was our third date when I realized that this was something very special. We just went out for a casual Mexican dinner, but ended up staying at the restaurant talking all night until they closed and kicked us out. It was amazing how comfortable he made me and how easy it was to talk to him about anything and everything.
Many dates, conversations, football games, kisses, tears, and laughter later, I consider myself the luckiest woman in the world to be the future Mrs. Christopher Craig. He is an absolute perfect fit for me. Chris is such a supportive, loving, talented man and I know he will be an amazing husband and (one day) father. I am excited to take this next step in our lives and I can’t wait to make even more memories together.
Houdini's Story:
Bow-wow wow yippie yo yippie yay! It was a day like every other day. Tyson, my twin brother, and I were locked in a box together, again. Our escape plan had been foiled once more, and I was left to wait until dad released me from the box. We spent much of that afternoon chewing on each others ears and dreaming of freedom outside.
Dad would finally arrive home but not alone. In with him came a dame like I had never seen before. She was wonderful at rubbing behind my ears, cuddling, and handing out cookies. I loved her instantly or maybe I just loved the cookies.
At first I felt that she was stealing away dads' attention, but then I came to realize that Lara could offer me freedom from that damned box. Lara would cuddle me in the days while we slept and Dad would cuddle me when Lara would leave at night. Hence no box time for me. HIGH FIVE!
I grew to love Lara and I can’t wait to make her my full-time mom!
P.S. – I have registered at the PetSmart in Hermitage, TN should anyone remember me during wedding shopping.
