October 25th, 2007 was the best day of my life.

Shaun and I went to Glasgow to see David Ford (amazing singer/songwriter who has basically written the soundtrack to our relationship. I urge you to buy his new album that was released this week!). Before the show we enjoyed a gorgeous meal of spanish tapas complete with oysters,calamari,yummy-yummy sangria and plenty of mushy/romantic gazing.

We headed to the show and guess who we saw at the bar of King Tut's?? David Ford! I was completely STAR STRUCK. I've listened to this man sing every single day for almost six months and there he was, just standing there. Obviously I acted like a complete idiot and was scared to walk near him or make eye contact!

Once the show started, my David Ford induced nausea subsided and I lost myself in his music. He did one hit after another and I swear, that man can do no wrong on stage. Toward the end of the set David Ford started talking to the audience.

' It's etiquette to not have conversations during a show.', he said. 'But there are some cases where I don't mind. And I think we could make an exception.'

The next words out of his mouth were: Where's Shaun?

MY MOUTH DROPPED.

Shaun, MY Shaun, raised his hand and suddenly the crowd parted and we were standing in the middle of the venue. All eyes on us.

David Ford continued, 'This is Shaun and this is Lisa. And I think they need to have a conversation.'

At this point I was doing my best impression of a goldfish, looking from David Ford to Shaun. I actually thought, Shit. He's got David Ford to help him dump me.

Out of nowhere (or maybe his coat pocket) Shaun pulled a gorgeous white box containing the most beautiful engagement ring I have EVER seen. *white gold. princess cut diamond.

The crowd gasped. Literally.

'Will you marry me?', said Shaun, MY Shaun.

The rest gets a bit blurry. I must have given some positive response (but at this point I think I had forgotten how to speak), because all of the sudden the crowd was cheering, Shaun and I were kissing, and a perfectly fitted ring was being placed on my left ring finger.

David dedicated the next song, Song for the Road, to us by saying, ' This is for Shaun and the future Mrs.Shaun.'

The gig was followed by a stream of congratulations from audience members, a blissful ride back to Edinburgh, and a bedroom filled with candles and flowers.

It turns out, Shaun had the whole thing planned for ages and even had a private meeting with David Ford before the gig to plan how it was going to happen! My boyfriend, I mean FIANCE, the music mogul.

I am the luckiest person on Earth. I love him so much and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with such a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful man.

Photobucket That's him in the middle at his sister's wedding. He is going to wear basically the same thing at our wedding (blue kilt) so I've given up trying to match him! Viva Fuschia!
