These will be our centerpieces (the votives will be in holders, I just got lazy).  They work out to be around $11 per table!  I love DIY projects.  :)

Judie, I'm using silk ones.  Much cheaper and when they're in the water, you can't really tell if they're silk or real!

$11 per table...WHAT? Where did you get the vases? That's a great deal!

Yes!  Only $11 per table!  I got the tallest vase from Walmart for $3, the medium vase from Michaels for $2, and the short vases from Dollar Tree for $1!  The floating candles work out to be about $3.50 per table, and the flowers, I bought a bush for the orchids ($3.50 for the bush and I get 5 centerpieces per bush, so only .70 per table!) and the cherry blossoms were $2.10 per branch, but I get 2 centerpieces per branch, so only $1.05 per table!  WOOOHOOOOO!

Did you have to glue the flowers or something to get them to float. I am looking to do almost the exact same thing but trying to save money on the vases. Was it really time consuming? I heard you can do it the night before.

Also, I am in the Chicago area too! Maybe you would like to sell the vases after? :) How many do you have?

Hi Lizzie.  I'm not sure if your still checking this site or not but I would love a few himts on how to do these center cylinder vases.  Where did you buy the cherry blossom bushels?  I saw where you bought the vases.........do they all need to be the same width in order for the floating candle to work?  Also, what do you have in the other two vases.  I cannot tell by looking at the photo.  We are getting married on the Big Island of Hawaii this September and I originally wanted big cherry blossom centerpieces but it's not really feasible in HI.  I'm sure it could happen but not for anything cheap (11.00 per table).  Please respond if you can.  I thought I could also use some cream color orchids.  They are pretty cheap at the local flower marts in HI since they grow wild there.  Thanks a million!!!
