We're both engineers and spend a lot of time at our cubicles. =) We also watch a lot of TV, take our dog for walks and the dog park, and once in awhile go running. =)

My fiance and I met during freshmen orientation in college. The first time we met, I didn’t really notice him while he didn't like what I was wearing. We met a second time through my roommate, after which he thought I was nice.

The third time we met, I still didn’t remember him and almost walked right by. Luckily he said hello and I pretended to remember him, and then we decided to hang out in my dorm. After a few hours of beating him at cards, we became fast friends and were pretty much inseparable thereafter.

He proposed to me on the evening of our six year anniversary. We went to Monterey for our anniversary, spent some time at the aquarium and cannery row, ate dinner at a fancy french restaurant called Fresh Cream, and then went back to our beach-front hotel suite which had a living room with stone floors, a fireplace, and a view of the ocean. He poured two glasses of wine and gave me an anniversary gift - a book describing our six years together, pictures of all the memories we've shared, and the reasons why he loves me.

At the end of the book he said, maybe you can help me fill in the picture on the last page.... and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. =)

My colors are various shades of red, white, and brown. I'm going more for the pinkish reds than the purplish or orange-ish reds.

We're getting married at Saint Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco. We pretty much have all the marriage prep stuff out of the way. All we need to do is pick the readings and meet with the music director to pick the music.

I went to a trunk show and fell in love with this dress! It's "Jessica" by Monique Lhuillier. Architectural. Chantilly lace. Trumpet skirt. This picture is semi-accurate, just imagine it without the poufy sleeves, and a long cathedral-length mantilla veil. =)

I will either wear this pair of chandelier earrings...

Or I will wear this necklace (except the front is only one large crystal instead of the multiple crystals/pearls in the picture) ...

I really like this mix of calla lilies and lily of the valley. I stumbled upon this picture when I was looking for a photographer and when I saw it, it took my breath away. Photo is courtesy of the wonderful and very talented Lisa Lefkowitz.

I got this gorgeous Vera Wang dress at Jeremy's for a mere $200 (original price $600). This will be my "qi pao."

After making my bridesmaids try on dozens of dresses, I finally found a dress that everyone was ok with! I love the color because it's kind of a soft red that I think will look very warm at the church. Best of all, my girls all look beautiful in the dress AND it was super affordable! Jcrew on sale for $70/each.

My FMIL really loves lily of the valley so I'm surprising her with a lily of the valley pin corsage. =)

For my mom, she will have a calla lily pin corsage.

Or alternatively, I might give them antique brooches.. that way they can keep it after the wedding.

A 10 course chinese banquet held at the Rincon Center Atrium and catered by Yank Sing. If it's in our budget, I would like to have red linens and some sort of chair covers. Those wire chairs are oogily and Yank Sing management wouldn't let me bring in rented chairs.

I love the look of this deep red linens. The centerpiece will be a round ball of one kind of red flower. Red carnations, red roses, red hydrangeas, red gerbera daisies, etc.

We'll serve some flower with the champagne for fun. =)

I would love to pair it with chocolate brown chiavari's but unfortunately my venue does not allow chiavari's so I am trying to decide on how to best cover up those ugly wire chairs. Option 1 - chair covers.. I prefer sheer and textured material if I'm going to get a colored linens. However, I'm not sure how good it would look if they are covering ugly wire chairs and not chiavari's. Option 2 - a pillow that doubles as a favor??? I dunno. I saw it on a design blog and thought - hey my wire chairs look like that!

A three-piece jazz band will be playing in the background during the dinner. Most of our guests are relatives and friends that don't really dance, so Joe decided to forego the dance floor thing and opt for live music. He felt it would be more "classy." Our first dance will probably be "At Last" by Etta James. Photo is courtesy of John and Joseph photography from Amber888's bio.

I really like architectural cakes that play with different heights and dimensions. I'm really liking the cakes on the bottom row (with the exception of the funky brown one).

Maybe the one on the bottom left, but in brown instead of black? Or maybe in white chocolate frosting with gold pearls and piping?

I also like the bottom right, second to the left as well. It's tall and skinny which might work better with the tall atrium space.

Joe and I decided to get our invitations from Mercurio Brothers. Thanks deeinthenola for the great rec! =) The invitations were inspired by a motif I saw from Hello Lucky. (I love Hello Lucky's designs but I just can't talk myself into spending $10+ per invitation). The fabric envelopes were inspired by the fabulous bruinchiq AKA Mrs. Lemon.

There are 5 different styles of invitation made from four types of fabric: red cotton, patterned red/pink quilting fabric, patterned red/brown quilting fabric, and red/pink suede. Each one is embroidered "m*j" in burgundy thread.

The invitation and rsvp are thick 500g Somerset cardstock and letterpressed with rich red ink. The "events" card shows the pictures of the church and reception venues, as well as the details of when/where.

Our first draft of the ceremony programs - a collage of fabrics and ribbons we're using in the wedding invitations, favors, and attire. The invitation will be folded in half length-wise.

I made a bunch of chinese ribbons to wave around during the ceremony. Our guests will sign those ribbons when they come to the reception.

Some ideas I liked before ...
1) Photobooth or polaroid guestbook?
2) Mini guestbook pages on the table in a nice folder?
3) Traditional Chinese silk guestbook?
4) Sign a photo or quilt or something?
5)I really love this guestbook with hanging messages on colored glass.
6) Fillable round christmas ornaments that people can fill with notes, a picture, and possibly a silk or origami flower, then hang it on something. http://www.bjcraftsupplies.com/holiday/fillable-ornaments01.asp

Some ideas...

White unmarked tennis balls tied with a tiny red ribbon and presented in red buckets.

NERDS (the candy) to symbolize the Nerds (me and Joe). We might wrap them in some nice japanese paper to make it look pretty. We're also considering stacking them up in such that the center of gravity is in the middle, but the top few boxes are to the right of the center of gravity. It will be tough though since the weight of the candy boxes will vary so they might topple over.

A red fleece blanket folded on top of the chair. Ikea has them for $4 each but the color might be too R.E.D.

A beige/red patterned pillow, or a beige pillow with a red ribbon tied around it with a gift tag that doubles as a seating card.

Rubik's cube (because we're nerdy). They're really expensive though, so we probably won't do this one.

Come Away With Me

Come away with me in the night
Come away with me
And I will write you a song

Come away with me on a bus
Come away where they can't tempt us
With their lies

I want to walk with you
On a cloudy day
In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high
So won't you try to come

Come away with me and we'll kiss
On a mountaintop
Come away with me
And I'll never stop loving you

And I want to wake up with the rain
Falling on a tin roof
While I'm safe there in your arms
So all I ask is for you
To come away with me in the night
Come away with me
