About Us

*On our third date

The story begins with two out of towners relocating to Chicago.  Frank had recently moved to Illinois (in Wheeling, a Northwest Chicago suburb) from Wisconsin, and I had recently moved to the Chicago suburbs (Oak Park) from DeKalb upon graduating college.  Both being new in town, we explored "old school" ways of meeting people and dating.  After failed attempts, we both decided to try something a little more "cutting edge", and joined date.com.  Frank sent me a message on a Wednesday, and I was intrigued by his sense of humor.  We exchanged messages for a few days, and then Frank called me on Sunday.  We ended up staying on the phone for 4 hours, and decided to go on a date the following Tuesday.

Frank & I went on our first date on March 22, 2006.  After work, I drove up to Wheeling from Downer's Grove and met Frank at his (one year later, it would be "our") apartment.  Frank, being the modern guy that he is, decided that instead of doing traditional flowers on the first date, he would instead make me a compilation cd that had some music on it that we had discussed during the 4 hour phone call.  I loved this unique & original gesture!  We went to dinner at Buca di Beppo, where I impressed Frank with my bottomless appetite and love of Miller Lite.  After that, we tried to go get ice cream at Coldstone (fatties!) but since it was closed, ended up going to Oberweiss instead.  The date was full of laughter and discovering that we had a lot of things in common.  This lead to another date a couple of days later, then Frank asking when he was going to get to be my "bofo", and shortly after, both of us canceling our date.com memberships. ;)
