FI was also born and raised in the bay area. he went to uc berkeley and also works in the biotech industry. he loves all bay area sports teams, burritos (seriously!), running, video games, traveling and spending time with family and friends. not sure that he's too into planning the wedding as i am.
FI and I cannot agree how we first met... we met about 5 1/2 years ago through friends, but where? we either met at a bowling alley in daly city (his memory) or at a bar in san francisco (my memory). either way i think we're both glad that we did meet!
FI asked my MOH, who is my old college roomie and sister i never had, to come with him to pick out the engagement ring. they went to the jewelry mart/gift center in sf. the funny thing is he didn't know that the weekend before they went ring shopping she and i were talking about what cut i did and didn't want. so she knew that i wanted princess cut. he picked out the setting and band himself. he picked out a really beautiful ring.
my favorite color is green so i knew right away that i wanted green to be our wedding color. i'm still not sure which shade of green i am going for. the accent color will be pink. FI actually preferred pink rather than yellow. i wanted yellow but he said it was like we were trying to go with the colors of the oakland a's (our favorite baseball team). so we're going with pink. again not sure of the shade. i think it will depend on the color of the BM dress.
we had the BEST time during our e-session with the fabulous ed pingol and his wife monica. we absolutely love our pictures and we can't believe how beautiful the pictures turned out despite a cloudy day... we cannot wait to see what he will be
able to capture on our wedding day. the teasers can be viewed on his website - http://edpingol.blogspot.com/
when i tried this dress on, i knew it was the one. i've always wanted a maggie dress and i happened to find the perfect one. so my dress is the vogue royale!
I originally wanted a tea length dress for my bridesmaids but one of my girls tried this dress on and thought that it was so pretty and romantic. I love that this dress is kind of flowy...
FI and I made these ourselves. We had our e-pics printed wallet size at Costco and attached them to business card size magnets from house of magnets. Then we just printed the cards on card stock and cut them ourselves. It was a fun project that we did together and it was put together with the help of our wedding party!
bracelet from DanaSaylorDesigns on etsy... she was so easy to work with and she was always quick to respond. i also ordered bracelets and earrings for my bridesmaids.

from pinkdesignevents... i love, love, love it!!
pics from my hair and make up trial with kristine/parallel universe artistry. loved how she did my hair and make up. i don't wear a lot of make up but i love how she made me look natural but still done up. plus the make up last ALL day!
we DIY'd our invitations. it was inspired by fellow pw'er Charmeng's design. i designed the invitation on photoshop. i got the pocket folders, invitation mats, and all the envelopes from cards and pockets (www.cardsandpockets.com) and all the cream cardstock from kelly paper. the monogram was created by pinkeventdesigns. i'm really happy with the way that it came out and our guests couldn't believe that we printed and put the invitations ourselves! (sorry! the pictures are a little dark and blurry)
we decided to give our guests bamboo plants as our favors. we decided on two stems since it represented love and happiness. we had to put together over a 100 favors and we were lucky that our bridesmaids and their significant others helped us out. (sorry! the pics are a little blurry!)
we decided to name each table after places we have been to - eiffel tower, arc de triomphe, buckingham palace, laguna beach, monterey, north shore, waikiki beach, empire state building, times square, disneyland. just to name a few (we had 24 tables!).
i got the idea to do lanterns from fellow pw'er abattyref. i saw her lanterns and thought that they were so cute. i made the lanterns with brown card stock and used green and pink as the mats and then printed everything on cream paper. on one side it was the name of the table along with a picture of us at that place, the other side it was a little story about the place we visited, then we added the program and menu on the next two sides. it came out really cute and our guests actually took some of the lanterns home as a keepsake!
we made sure to incorporate some important filipino traditions to our ceremony
the veil - a gift from my aunt in the philippines
The veil is a symbol of the faithful and everlasting love the bride and groom have for each other. Through the passing of the years, it will remind them that they belong to each other, and that their love becomes more beautiful in self-surrender that are total and pure. The Veil Sponsors will pin the veil from the groom’s shoulders extending to cover the bride’s head and shoulders. It also symbolizes unity of the two families into one.
the cord and coins - another gift from my aunt
The cord symbolizes the love and friendship that bind the couple together, and the figure eight shape represents the infinite nature of matrimony.
the coins signifies the bride and groom's mutual hope for wealth, prosperity and security as they build their lives and family together. the metal tinkling of the thirteen coins being passed from one pair of hands to the others signifies abundance and success in the couple's joint efforts.
the unity candle - purchased at michael's
light the two candles on side of the Unity Candle as a symbol of the gift of life that they gave them when they were new to this world, and the gift of life they give them now as they begin a new life together as husband and wife.
we borrowed our friend's birdcage from her wedding and just changed the ribbon and sign to match our colors. i made sure to put a ribbon on the sides to make sure that cards won't slip out!
i didn't really want to do a ceremony program since i wasn't sure if all of our guests would take one. i gave in and decided to just do it. for 240 guests, i only made a 100 and we only had 10 left! yay! they did take them! :)
i kept the programs really simple. just a cover page with our monogram, then a page with the order of our ceremony with an explanation of the traditions that took place (veil, coins, cord), and then the last page was a list of who was in our wedding party.
i even put bubbles in the basket with the programs and i didn't expect anyone to get them but at the end of the ceremony as we were walking down the aisle, everyone was blowing them! it was so cute!
i love, love, love cupcakes!! i knew right away that i didn't want a traditional cake and that i wanted to have cupcakes instead. after trying out a couple different bakeries, we decided to go with sweet dreams bakery (www.sweetdreamshop.com). we had three different flavors - red velvet, vanilla with chocolate frosting and cookies and cream. our guests loved them and even had seconds. we saw some of them bringing a cupcake home for later!

DH wanted a photobooth but it was way out of our budget. when we found our dj (impact sounds dj), they told us that they offered photobooths as an additional service. they gave us a really good deal that we couldn't pass on. they set it up right outside of our reception and even provided an album for our guests to put their pictures in. it was a huge hit and we wished we had it all night.

we had our ceremony and reception at the san ramon marriott. our ceremony took place in their courtyard and the weather was beautiful.
the reception was also at the hotel and the ballroom was gorgeous. the uplighting was provided by our awesome DJ and the flowers were done by huckleberry karen designs. i was so happy that everything looked simple yet elegant.
