It all started in the MSC at Prairie View in April 2006. KP and I knew of each other but never officially met. Well, one day as I was leaving the MSC and I saw KP at Chick-Fil-A and I thought to myself, "This man will speak to me". So I walked up to him and told him when he sees me he should always speak. We exchanged numbers that day and had our first date at Starbucks. My favorite thing about him is his laugh and his ability to make me laugh. He's the smartest man I know and we learn from each other every day. We've had many turning points and victories throughout our relationship and I am very blessed to have him as my best friend and future husband.
KP and I decided to go to Las Vegas to celebrate his birthday and our three year anniversary. We had dinner reservations to the Eiffel Tower restaurant at the Paris Hotel. Now, the day before we had a small issue with being on time to a different restaurant so I wanted to make sure we were there and seated on time. When we got there the hostess explained that the table was not yet ready and for that reason she gave us "complimentary" tickets to the top of the Eiffel tower. Me being the person that I am I wanted to know why the table wasn't ready. She couldn't give me a reason why but insisted that we go to the top of the Eiffel Tower. My next question was, "How long do I need to stay up there?" She said, "As long as you want". Now I'm thinking to myself... that makes NO since at all. What if we're up there an hour two hours even or 20 min? She said just go and enjoy yourself and the table will be ready when you return. At this point I'm a little irritated that no one can explain to me why my table's not ready and why I have to go back outside to the cold to see the Eiffel tower. Because it was our anniversary I didn't want to linger on things that were out of my control. We get to the top of the Eiffel tower and the ride was about 700 feet in the air in the smallest elevator known to man. I'm normally not afraid of heights but this particular day I was very nervous. The tower moved every time the wind blew. Finally KP calmed me down and got me off the elevator only to bring me to a cold, windy tower. As soon as we got there I was ready to leave but KP wanted us to watch the water show at the Bellagio. The wind was blowing so fast the show did not start. We waited around to see if the show would ever start but after about 15 minutes I decided I did not want to wait any longer. We were the second couple in line waiting for the elevator and KP decides to step out of the line. He walked to the other side of the tower and asked me to come over to him. I of course said, "No". He asked again and I again said no. I asked him if the show started and he just kept saying, "Just come here". After a minute or so of back and forth's I decided to step out of the line feeling disappointment on my shoulders. I walked over, saw no water, heard no music, and I immediately became upset. I asked him why he called me out of line knowing we would have to wait forever in the line that was now wrapped around the tower. He said, "Because I want to ask you something". He pulled out a small black box from his pocket and I instantly bursted into tears. He asked me to marry him and I was so excited I couldn't catch my breath to say yes. By this time everyone in the tower was by us including the security officer. He sternly asked KP if everything was okay and KP said, "Yes I just asked her to marry me but I haven't received a response yet". He asked me again and I in between the tears said yes. Everyone applauded and the same officer who was ready to take KP down just so happened to have a large box of tissues in his pocket and handed them to me. After taking a few photos we went back downstairs for a prepared dinner. Apparently everyone was in on it except me because we had a table with a congratulatory sign on the engagement and a table in front of the Bellagio. We spent the rest of the night enjoying our dinner and watching the water show that finally started.
I'm blessed to have an AWESOME sister-in-law. She hosted an engagement party for DH and I. It was great. It had a Paris theme because DH proposed at the the Eiffiel Tower in Las Vegas. Peep the pics.
