We met during happy hour in Washington DC- I saw him from across the room and immediately noticed him - he was so handsome and I was taken by his height and commanding presence. So, after summoning up the courage, I walked over and introduced myself and asked what he was drinking. We instantly bonded over our Caribbean connection and after an hour of great conversation, ended up having dinner that same evening. A couple of laughs in I knew we would be friends forever. Since then our love has grown and we have been inseparable ever since. I just got accepted into Drexel University to pursue a Master's in Marriage & Family Therapy and will eventually be a Relationship and Sex Therapist.
As for me, am a cheerful, outgoing and spunky chick, who is happy to have found the man of her dreams and engage in this thing called wedding planning! I am so happy to be part of this community of other fabulous women as I am a bit indecisive and could use y'alls help. Spending quality time with people I love, traveling, having great conversation with a glass of wine, mani-pedi's and live jazz performances
We are planning to wed in my hometown of Miami, FL during July 4 weekend, 2012! We have secured The Epic Hotel as the ceremony and reception venue which is incredible! The modern hotel overlooks all of Miami and guests will enjoy a premium open bar with kobe beef sliders, baby coconut lobster tails(my honey is allergic to shellfish so mo' for me!) and miso glazed cod. The theme of our wedding is modern miami - glam - art deco elegance - so lots of feathers incorporated with lucite, orchids etc. The colors are blush pink, purple, black and white. I'm sooo excited, now we just wait, lol.
So, as you all know I purchased my blush pink beautiful dress a few months ago. I mean it's gorgeous! I spent Thanksgiving with my in-laws - they came to meet my parents for the first time and things went fantastic. However, his family told me that although my dress is lovely that since I am getting married for the first time, I need to wear white because that is the tradition of the family. While it's my day and I can do whatever I want I also have changed my mind and want to wear a white dress all nite, no second dress. I have decided to sell my blush beauty...
At first I wanted to purchase the Ines di Santo gown that I have loved so much but with the rising cost of this wedding, certain things have to give and that means the dress budget. I am waiting patiently for a certain dress from the white collection by vera wang. Some call it the Juju dress but it is my absolute dream and everything I wanted at a fantastic price point. Once I try it on and seal the deal with a few modifications I will post pics. So interesting how your wedding vision can shift in less than a year! Wish me luck :)

I had posted previously about my invitation woes! I was trying to save money and DIY but if I'm honest with myself - I don't do that stuff, lol. More power to you all that have the patience, but I have neither patience or time. I have requested over 20 invitation samples and looked at thousands of invites but none gave me the GASP, until I saw these on etsy:
Its the one invite that was a unianimous vote from everyone! I really love them and think it captures the black tie elegance we were going for. And I think our guests will feel special since each invite is personally addressed on the outer ribbon. So excited!!
I have been enjoying wedded bliss for the last month and have been so late in posting!!! The wedding was beyond my wildest dreams, and everything we could have ever wished for. Here are the non pro pics.
