My fiance and I have been best friends since the 6th grade and it only took me graduating high school and taking off for college for him to realize that we had to be more than just friends. But we all knew men are little bit slower at this relationship stuff than us women. Anyway, so almost four years later, the day of my college graduation, he proposed and now that we've hit the one year to the wedding date I'm full-forced in planning the wedding.

I absolutely love everything that goes into planning the wedding. I know that's weird to hear from a bride-to-be but I wouldn't have it any other way. I was going to hire a planner but then realized how insane I would drive them with all of my perfectionist ways. I have the whole event planned in my head (every single detail) and I love finding out my options and choosing my best alternative. I've saved SO much money doing it this way.

Our wedding date was set for September 25, 2010. Which is exactly 5 years since we began dating. We confirmed the church right after the engagement and although I wanted an outdoor reception, we settled for a free (I repeat FREE) venue that can fit over 500 guests seated. I figure if I plan well enough, not one person will recognize the community hall the way they remember it. :) 

So with the wedding a year away, I'm more than excited, not just for the wedding day but for my future to come with my best friend.

Red is both mine and my fiances favorite color! Our community's school colors are Red and White and when I went off to college Red, White and Blue were my school colors. Red had been a big part of our life and when you're getting married in the fall and red is your favorite color there is just no easier choice.

We're not going for a "fall theme" but I would definitely say that our colors are those you'd see for a fall themed wedding. The main color will be a scarlet red with chocolate brown accents and the florals will be shades of orange from a burnt orange to a peach color with deep red flowers and green accents.
