My FI and I meet on plentyoffish.com in late May of 2008. A few days later we went on our first date to a local bar, Fast Eddy's. We haven't looked back!! Then on January 31, 2009 in front of friends and family my FI surprised all, including me, by proposing after blowing out the candles on his birthday cake!!
My FI proposed with his Great Grandmother's engagement ring. The ring itself is very simple. It is a combination of white and yellow gold with a single small diamond in the center. We plan on adding some smaller diamonds on either side of the main diamond to make the ring more ours, in addition to having some maintence done on it.
Our ceremony will be in Downtown Saint Louis, in Forest Park at The Jewel Box. The building was originally opened in 1936 and a few years ago went through a renivation to restore it to the glory of its hay day.
Our reception will be at The Franklin Room in historical Soulard. We feel in love with this space after meeting with Hank, one of the co-owners. The building was built in 1904 as apart of the world fair. The space was originally a
theater, so there is stage in the front of the room. Vincint Price performed there as a teenager. Then in the 70's it was a neighborhood roller rink! Then in 1982 it became The Franklin Room.
Our wedding favors will be a candy buffet. I have had a lot of fun researching this, still am researching. I have a major sweet tooth so this is only fitting at my wedding! My FI and I have decided Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids, and Reeses Peanutbutter Cups are a must. I have already purchused my jars. All at Michael's and done cheeply. I used coupons to buy all of my jars and slowly bought them over several weeks.
My bridesmaid dresses are by Bill Levkof. They will be eggplant with the midsection ivory. Haven't gotten any farther than this yet.
When I first started thinking of colors for my wedding I really had no clue. Since the wedding, and my birthday, are in March I started looking at greens. I was not very happy with any of the sades I was finding. So, I also liked purple and thus have settled on eggplant with hints of apple/spring greens and yellow.
I loved trying on dresses. It was a lot of fun. I found a lot of dresses that I liked and thought that the decision would be tough. I knew I wanted an A line, strapless dress with beading and embroidery. Then I tried on "the dress." I love it! I ordered about 5 weeks ago and was told to expect it in anywhere between 4 to 6 months. My poor father will be seeing alot of my on weekends because I'll be admiring and putting my dress!! What I love particularly about the dress is the embroidery. There are hearts "hidden" throughout the dress. I love it!!
My first try on!
Bottom detailing with my shoes.
My hair style will look something likethis:
I know I want a comb for my hair. With the help of PW ladies the winner by a landslide is comb #1!
