Best day of my life!
The day after our wedding we hopped on a 17 hour flight to Bangkok Thailand. From there we went island hopping for 3 1/2 weeks. It was amazing. Here are some pictures:
Bangkok:
Koh Lanta
Koh Phi Phi
Railay Beach
Koh Samui
Koh Phanang
Rodney and I met while taking architectural technology at BCIT in Burnaby BC. He's an amazing guy- smart, sweet, funny and gorgeous! I fell for him the first time we spoke in one of our classes and we've been inseperable ever since. He proposed in June '08. I cannot wait for our wedding in October!
~About Rod: Rodney is an ex-football player. He played for Illinois when he went to College in the States. He is currently an Assistant Super Indendant in the construction industry. He works out every day before work. He's extremely creative and artistic and a very passionate person. His family came to Canada from Portugal just before he was born and Rodney helps his parents out a lot. He's the hardest worker I know- makes me feel lazy at times. He is more fashion conscious than I am, but thats not saying a lot. LOL. All in all, I love him to pieces and can't wait to start a family with him and grow old together!
~About Me: I grew up as a total tom-boy with two older brothers. I played every sport imaginable including hockey until I went into university. I work for an architecture firm as an architectural technologist. I'm still into sports- but not involved in so many team sports. I just completed my second full marathon and have dreams of one day doing an Ironman. I grew up in Thunder Bay Ontario but moved here to BC about 5 years ago. I miss my family terribly and keep bugging Rodney to move back there with me- I don't think its going to happen! We love BC for the outdoor life- Ocean, camping, beautiful summers...
I'm rediculously excited for our wedding- which is wierd to me because I never really thought about weddings before or pictured what mine would be like. I just can't wait!!!
Here are some of my faves. We had them done in August 08 by PMD Photography in Vancouver.

We have chosen a chocolate brown, ivory and green wedding theme. We might add a touch of pale pink to the flowers...
I absoloutely love this wedding!
and these flowers!
My thoughts on flowers have progresses a bit. I'm loving the white, green and pink bouquets with peonies and ranunculus and some white roses...
I'm having a really hard time with this because I don't ever 'do' my hair. I dry it straight or I scrunch it up into a bun- I don't really know how to do anythinkg else, so its hard to imagine myself with really nice hair. I just don't know what will look good. Here are some styles that I am liking:
I love Gatorbrides updo and hair flower. And my veil will look a lot like hers too:
The guys will be wearting Chocolate brown tuxes with a green tie to match the bridesmaids.

I have no clue (yet) when it comes to the overall decorating scheme for a reception and ceremony, but here are some decoration ideas that inspire me.
I love Kristinkay'a centrepieces:
UPDATE:
we had our decor appiontment and these are the decisions we made:
The table overlays will be brown pintuck, and the chair covers will be white with green sashes:
There will be alternating centrepieces of:
1. three vases- one will have a cala lily, one will have dendrobium orchids and the smallest will have monkey grass. they will have floating candles on top and there will be two more tea lights on the table.
2. a floral centrepiece in a square vase with green tea roses, green orchids, white roses, bells of ireland and 4 tea lights surrounding it. the vase will have a band of seaweed around it.
Our head table will have a set-up like this with the different height candles, but maybe not quite so elaborate. the candle holders will have monkey grass and floating candles:
It will have the brown pintuck runner and the front will have green draping with mini lights.
We are having our ceremony at St Matthew's church in Surrey BC.
Our reception will be at Newlands Golf and Country Club in Langley, BC.
My FMIL set up a surprise wedding shower for me when my mom was in town visiting. It was really amazing. I didn't think I was going to have a shower at all and I was fine with that. But she rented a hall and everything and there were close to 70 people there.
FI and I got a good taste of being the centre of attention- scary! We opened amazing gifts, ate fabulous Portuguese food and had a great time.
Surprise!! &n bsp; FMIL- i was crying
