We were having a lot of issues finding a church that would let us get married. We're technically having a destination wedding in Troy (I know of all places!) and neither of us have any affiliations short of the Newman Foundation Cultural Center on campus. I called a few churches and they flat out told us we needed to be active members for at least a year. Obviously impossible if we both live 3-10 hrs away.
We love Fr.Ed ("Fred") at the Rensselaer Newman Foundation but the chapel itself isn't where I wanted to get married. Since it's a cultural center it's used for many different religions, which is all well and good, but there are odd markings on the floor and it doesn't have that "churchy" feel to it. Jason and I decided early on we'd get married in a church to make our families happy, so if we were gonna do it, I wanted a REAL church.
My friend Laura (also one of my bridesmaids) has lived in the area for awhile and she showed me one or two churches once she knew what I was looking for. The winner, and quite possibly one of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen? Christ the King in Guilderland, NY.

It's BEAUTIFUL. And Fr. Jim was more than happy to allow us to get married there. He even said FrEd could be our officiant if we wanted, which is nice since we're already familiar with him.
Best yet, it's only 20 minutes away from our reception venue and pretty darn easy to get to. Plus that backdrop is totally on par with my color scheme...I know...it's the little things.

So stunning! You are going to get amazing photos!
