I'll be getting married to my wonderful fiancee on July 2012 during a two day pandemonium of a wedding.
When we first started talking wedding we both expressed our love for intimate family gatherings with a laid back feel, almost like the backyard barbecues we host on labour weekend at the cottage. But there was a catch: both of us are very social and since it definitly is inherited from our parents, they too had a loong list of friends and associates they NEEDED ( my granmom's voice!) to invite.
So, due to a guestlist that would not shrink for the world ( 405 ppl! ) and venues that could not accomodate those numbers, we've decided to have equal sized ceremony and reception events. After calculating the extra cost of having it on seperate days ( double the food, photog/vid, decor, dress, etc.) we realized that the price difference would be minimal compared to having a large banquet hall wedding with half the people there being complete strangers to both of us. *pheww* it took only 4 MONTHS to work that out! Now I only have 5 months to plan both days...I've been told to breathe plenty...so *inhaaale-exhaale*
So what are the colours and theme we chose? Well, I want that day to feel like an elegant evening dinner by the sea. I want to incorporate a mediterranian exotic feel; think Santorini...Casablanca..the French and Italian Riviera.A relaxed family environment with a passed meal but full of wedding glamour and elegance. Weddings are a huge family celebration, a BIG deal in Europe.
We called it a glamorous escape or seaside glamour.
Colours: White, Blues, turquoise, Silver, gold, taupe.
Here are some other inspirational boards/pics that I found researching online that I will incorporate.
See, here is where I get stuck. Last year on a trip to France, my aunt bought this gorgeous fabric that I would like to use. It is a beautiful french lace with beading and she has no use for it. ( Recycle, Reduce, Reuse!:)). I was thinking of designing that into a dress that my grandmother and I would sew. She's a superb seamstress and it would mean so much to both of us for her to make my wedding dress.
I want a dress that says grace, elegance, beauty, simplicity... that also fits well with my seaside theme. Here are a few we've been concidering.
Love the top but I want more of a plain bottom like the second dress.
