Nude and Plum

Inspiration board from Elizabeth Anne Designs
Here's what I came up with
the dress
It started with this dress:
It's my mom's wedding gown. 28 years ago, she walked down the aisle in this dress. 2 years ago, she brought it out, and I tried it on. I asked my mom if I could restyle the dress for a more modern look; she let me have her dress. It is Filipino custom that brides have a custom gown made for them. I followed this tradition.
After meeting with Janet Brunton, I was inspired!

I soon discovered that I wasn't the only person with this dress in mind.

Monique Lhuillier knew what was up!
Check out the progress:

Please don't be alarmed, but yes, the dress has been taken apart.

We needed extra fabric for the skirt, as there wasn't enough in the original dress. I bought Georgette Silk at Fabric Land in Orange, which perfectly matched my mom's skirt and had it pleated at Twin's Pleating in Los Angeles.

This is the muslin garment to test out the shape of the dress.

And here she is...until the wedding...
