FI could probably tell the story better, but he did the whole "ask my Dad" for permission thing. My Dad's response? "huh" I guess you'd have to know my Dad to understand that was actually good....!
So he looked for months for the perfect ring and my wonderful FI is now an expert in diamonds! He went to a ton of jewlers, asked a lot of questions and went home after every one to do more research on the diamond lingo! He wouldn't
buy anything until he knew exactly what he was getting! The Actual proposal We rarely get to see each other so FI came home for July 4th and I made plans for us to spend the day together. Little did I know that I was planning my proposal! We went to Bay Harbor, one of our favorite places! It was a beautiful hot day
and we enjoyed a picnic along the shore watching people and boats. I never suspected a thing!
After lunch, we took a walk down the pier and watched the boats coming in, dreaming about one day owning one of the gorgeous houses along the lake. FI took my promise ring to look at while we were talking so when we stoped, I said "Can I
have my ring back?" FI's response was ""Which one?" All I remember after that was looking at him down on one knee (thankfully I was sitting!) I was told that I said "YES" about a dozen times and we hugged and laughed and lived happily ever after!

Thanks for your comment! Sometimes I think it would be WAY harder to live in the same country and just spend a few days together here and there because at least when we're together it's for like, 3 months at a time, kwim? So I def feel your pain and I appreciate the encouragement! Y'all will make it through; only 4 more months!
