Our wedding was on saturday 7th of August 2010 and I can say: this was one of the most amazing days so far in my life! I surprised myself: I wasn't too nervous...:-)

So we got up pretty early, I had my hair- and make-up appointment at 8.30. I was relaxed and enjoyed the pampering. Hair and make-up came out great! Back home DH was gone to his best friend to get dressed and my dad and sister came to our house to help me get ready. Still: I was not nervous, more really happy to finally get in my dress and have an amazing day. My dad then drove me together with my sister to the church, in an amazing new Jaguar, WOW, I felt like a princess :-)

The weather was beautiful, sunshine all day, and when I arrived in front of the church I started getting nervous, my heart was beating and I started shaking... :-) my dad did an amazing job, he was so lovely. He holded my hand and then we started walking down the aisle and it was just... WOW... blewing me away! I felt like if I was flying... DH was standing there with his biggest smile. One of the happiest moments in my life! When I arrived in the front DH said to me: You're the most beautiful woman in the world. Oh man, I thought I started crying. The ceremony was lovely and very emotional, as the priest is a friend of us, aswell as the musicians. It was just as we wanted it to be, just perfect!

After the ceremony we had a cocktail hour in a park near the church. The place was lovely, with a big tree and lots of shade. We haven't seen the buffet though, cause by the time we got all the congrats from everyone, all the yummy things were gone :-)
After the cocktail hour we left for our couples-pro pics and then joined our guests for the reception at 6 pm. The reception place was amazing and our flower-lady had done a wonderful job, everthing looked beautiful, all in our colours, light pink and ivory. The food was superbe and the wine too! We loved everything!

Just 3 things didn't work out as we wanted to: DH and I both thought that the service at the reception could have been better. Several times I had to ask to get more wine and water. Also they didn't take care enough about the light. Many times, especially after the band playing, they lighted up the whole room, instead of keeping the lights down, in order to have a nice atmosphere with the candles. But we realised, that most of the people didn't notice at all (good for us :-)). Another thing that really bothered me was the next morning: About 30 people were sleeping at the hotel and we invited them for breakfast on Sunday morning. But the staff at the breaky-restaurant wasn't ready and they were not very nice towards us. This was a bit weird.

All in all we had the most wonderful day, everyone was happy and lovely, the weather was perfect and I wish I could have stopped the time for a while! My advice to all the brides to be: Enjoy every single moment of your wedding day, as time just passes by so fast.

Our ceremony was held in a beautiful little town near Zurich, in the church by the river.

Two friends of us played the ceremony music, just the guitar and singing, it was very personal and touching. These are the songs we chose:

- One boy one girl, by Collin Raye
- All my roads, by Collin Raye
- That was a river, by Collin Raye
- It's your love, by Tim McGraw
- In this life, by Collin Raye
- Many a mile, by Collin Raye

I'm back with the honeymoon recap :-)

DH and I were so excited about going on our honeymoon finally and as he had a stressful time at work, the holiday was really needed. So we left on Thursday November 11 for Dubai, where we stayed at "The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina" for 5 nights. The hotel is great and we got a bottle of prosecco, fresh fruits and a honeymoon-decorated bed with roses and rose petals on our arrival. It was a gre at welcome. The next 4 days were so exciting, interesting and just great. For those who have already been in Dubai, you know, what I'm talking about. Dubai is crazy, beautiful, exciting and mystical at the same time. I loved the real old town with the souks as much as the whole new places like the Dubai Mall and the new "Old Town" around the Burj Khalifa (the highest building of the world). We did a desert half day tour with a beautiful sunset and a typical oriental dinner. On Tuesday November 16 we had our flight for Male, I couldn't wait to arrive in the Maldives and spend the next 10 days there. Upon arrival it was pure bliss and it wouldn't stop. (pics to follow!). We stayed in the north Malé atoll at the Coco Palm Bodu Hithi.

It's a small island, very private and with a lush vegetation. We've chosen a beach bungalow. It was huge, we had our private sundeck and our private loungers on "our" stretch of beach. The sand was white, the sea was turquoise. And there again we had a bottle of prosecco, fruits and a lovely decorated bed when we arrived. And for the next 10 days, all we did was relaxing, sun bathing, snorkelling, reading, and spend the best time together :-)) It was so wonderful and didn't want to leave "o ur island". All the staff were lovely and the food was great. Every wednesday after dinner there was an open air cinema on the main beach. We loved it, it was so romantic. We loved the snorkelling too and watching the sunset. We realised when we wer e there, how much we needed to relax and spend time together after a pretty stressful year. DH was so lovely during the whole honeymoon and I just kept telling myself that I'm so crazy in love with him. I would have loved to stop the time. It was WO NDERFUL!For everyone who likes to go to the Maldives: I can only recommend it, it's beautiful and so so romantic.

so, a few months ago i discovered pw, just by chance, when i was searching for inspiration for my wedding colours and decoration (flowers etc.). i love pw and i'd love to spend more time on it, but there's too much going on all the time ;-)

well, i've decided to make a quick resume of how my fi and i met.

like tons of other people, and i guess it's probably the most common way to meet with love, fi and i met at work about 5 years ago. i moved to another city because of my new job and there he was :-)! from the beginning i thought that he was very kind and funny, but there were no other feelings other thoughts at all. we became best friends and did a lot of stuff together with, as well as with other people we both knew. it was really lots of fun and just cool. i guess at that time everybody else around us was already seeing what was going on, except us :-))

so, long story short: one week we had a 3-day workshop we both had to go to ;-) and there it hit me just like someone hit me in the face and i realised that i was in love and i was blown away! he felt the same :-) this was 4 years ago. he's the love of my life!

We love travelling and if we get to save enough money we usually do a big holiday once a year. So last year in August we went to Thailand. After travelling around we spent one week at an amazing hotel in Koh Samui. Before the holiday I often thought about IT, would he ask me (finally) or not??? I had no clue... He's perfect in keeping secrets! We had often talked about getting married and having a family, there was no doubt for the both of us. I just didn't know, when he would pop the question. So we stayed at this beautiful hotel, had romantic evenings and just nothing happened. We knew that the hotel offered private candlelight dinners at the beach and we thought this would be the best way to have a beautiful last evening of our trip. We had then seen couples having their beach dinner and we though it was not top, cause they were kind of exposed and all the people would stare at them when passing by. We then discovered, that we could also have dinner at one of the small huts just by the pool and that this would offer much more privacy. So FI booked the romantic candle light dinner at the hut for the last evening. I was a bit nervous and was very much attentive to find out if FI was different or nervous or anything. But he was just the same as always.. I thought, ok this was it. Next time :-)

So we arrived at the pool in the evening and the little hut was all decorated with the most beautiful flowers, all orchids, and tons of candles, it was amazing and SO romantic! We ordered dinner and a glass of champagne. We toasted and suddenly FI became serious, he went down on his knee and I think I started crying and shaking before he had said anything! OMG! It was just PERFECT! He said how much he loved me, that everything was perfect with me, how happy he was and that he wanted this to be going on for the rest of our lives. He asked and I said YES! It was the perfect setting for the perfect proposal and I couldn't be more happy. We had an amazing romantic evening and I kept saying: How could you stay so calm during the whole holiday? He just smiled and said I love you.

<-- I just couldn't stop smiling all night! The most romantic evening ever!!!

My inspiration:

First I wanted to go only with pink and light pink, but after lots of thinking, inspiration, loooots of pics and after meeting with my flower lady, I decided to have light pink and ivory. I'm so happy with this choice as it will match perfectly with everything. My bouquet will be only with roses. For the centerpieces we will mix roses with some light greens to get more volume. The church will also be decorated with light pink roses.

Some roses my flower lady gave me in my colours.

These are our DIY invitations. Well, we had them printed, but we designed them ourselves and we love them. The thank-you card will be in the same mood.

Colors:
Outside: light pink and grey on dark pinkish/wine red
Inside: dark pinkish/wine red on ivory

Inside on the left it says: "I'm happy that I found you, otherwise I would have searched for you all my life." (the translation is not perfect, but you get the idea).

DH and I are not big "DIYers". We made the invitations, the menu cards and the thank you cards. They were all in the same design.

Our invitations: You can't really see in on the pic, but the "&" is in light pink, the inlays are ivory.

I tried on about 20 or 30 dresses, it was amazing. In the end I had 4 favourites. These didn't make it:

Ian Stuart Copacabana (without the bolero). It was beautiful, but way out of my budget.

Pronovias Hawai

And then there was a third one, by La Sposa, but I can't find a picture. It was a lace gown.

Finally, I did it! (the pic is not really good, but...)
