We first met in 4th grade when he moved from Portland, Oregon to a surburb of Madison, Wisconsin where I lived. First dated in 8th grade. Have been best friends for 13 years. He makes me laugh like no one else on this planet and apparently I'm adorable (in his eyes!). We're already legally married from a JOP service last summer, but our wedding isn't until May 30, 2009. If you're wondering why we didn't have the wedding the first time around, it's because he is a Navy Corpsman and was stationed 1,100 miles away from me. It's hard being that far away from the person you love! (and I missed my flight home..haha). So we made it official at 10pm on July 29, 2008 so that I could be here with him. I moved to the east coast (North Carolina) in September. We currently live off base in a military town, but will be moving to Yokosuka, Japan in January of 2010!
We're planning our wedding in Wisconsin, 1,100 miles from where we currently live. Not gonna lie....it's a little tough! But we've got amazing families and friends helping us out as much as possible. 1 month to go! Eeeeeek!

We've had 3 proposals in our relationship! DH proposed to me twice, I proposed to him once.
The first proposal was *the* proposal. He didn't have a ring yet, and I wasn't anywhere close to expecting it. He took me out to the spot where he goes surfing when I came to visit him this past summer. They have this huge, beautiful pier that goes way out into the ocean. He walked me the whole length of the pier and took me up onto the little second story balcony. He started twisting the ring I wore on my left ring finger around and told me I couldn't wear it on that finger anymore. I asked him why and he whispered "Because I want you to be my wife. Will you marry me?" Ohhhh dear lord. I was like a leaky faucet. Completely stunned I managed a "Kay" response. Hahaha. I'm so lame. I missed my flight home 3 days later from getting stuck in a traffic jam and so we just decided to get married then. I've been legally married now for 7 months.

(See the little second story balcony? That's where it happened! =])
The second proposal was the ring proposal. We had originally agreed that we were going to wait for our wedding ceremony to exchange any kind of expensive rings. We were already legally married and were back home for Christmas. The day after Christmas, we were at a really nice sushi restaurant waiting for his mom and little sister so we could have lunch together. He asked if I wanted to play a little game and took the ring I had on my finger off. He then got down on one knee and proposed to me with a gorgeous black diamond ring!! (Black is my favorite color.) My wedding band is also a very thin band inset with 18 little black diamonds. I absolutely love my ring. I couldn't have picked a better one myself.

The third proposal was me being a dork, and proposing back to him after I got his band for him. It was a surprise, and actually was one of the cutest and corniest things ever. I had his band engraved with "I love you, baby...yachts". The yachts part is an inside joke between us. He loves the ring I picked out for him and said "yes!" Hahaha. Here's his fancy ring:

Our photographer (Ally Voshell, Why We Wait Photography) was SO fun. Here are some of the sneak peek pictures that she allowed me to steal from her to post until we get our picture disc! (There are more under my photos).
Here are some pictures of my e-ring and band together. I love them. Seriously cannot believe I get to wear such beautiful rings for the rest of my life.

Since DH is a Navy Corpsman, he wants to wear his dress blues for the wedding.(The pic is NOT of DH! Haha.)

I don't mind a bit.....he looks sexy in uniform. ;] And ironically, I've always been a pin-up lover. I've done some modeling and have always gotten booked for any type of pin-up shoot that was booked through the agency. According to one of my favorite photographers that I work with (he's shooting our wedding! YAY!!!), I just have the "look" for it.
Me: (Yes, this is me. I'd also like to credit JSVPhotography as we share the copyrights to the picture.)

Anyways, moving on.....I love the pin-up style. It suits me, I suit it. It was a definitely what I wanted for my inspiration for our wedding. I got pressured by salesladies when I started going on to try dresses at the 7 month mark. They were telling me I was going to have to rush order dresses, etc, etc for it to get here on time for our wedding. In a panic, I bought a dress that was slightly what I was looking for and something I knew our moms would love. They both did when it came in. I, on the other hand, got a sinking feeling in my stomach when I put it on and looked in the mirror. Not only was it too big, but it was way to princess-y for me. Don't get me wrong, princess dresses are beautiful. The gown I rushed into buying is beautiful. However, it is NOT me.
So, with 4 months to go, I found *the* dress. The kicker is, it's not even a wedding dress. It's for a wedding alright, but not a bridal gown. I fell in love with....a bridesmaids dress. YEP. Crazy, eh? I tried it on, sucked in big breath and went "HOLY CRAP!" It's perfect. It even has a little train. I mostly love it because it is going to have black on it though. =]
Here she is on the online pictures. Except she'll be white with a black sash instead of pink with a brown sash. And my seamstress is adding black satin buttons down the back all the way to the sash. And she's going to make the neckline in the front a little more dramatic as well. But overall, I love it. Not traditional, really....but we seem to be breaking a lot of the "norm" for this marriage.

DH pointed out the fact that sailors and pin-up girls go hand in hand......haha. And since we've already had our first kiss as husband and wife, we're going to do the famous VJ Day Sailor Kiss as our ceremony kiss.
She just came in today!! Yay! I loooove it! I'm going to have the neckline made a little more dramatic though.

The lovely Dita Von Teese. I think she's off-the-wall hot.
Like this makeup look:
*Edit:
Once I got my dress back and realized how much I liked the back with my hair pulled up, I've decided to do hair up. Maybe something like this:
(my earrings are about that size too!)
My birdcage veil from Etsy seller MarlaJDesigns:
My earrings, DiamonArt 4.2 carat leverbacks:
(They're so super sparkly in person. And are on sale right now too!)
Our ceremony is being held in a formal french rose garden complete with a fountain in the back. The first picture is of the garden where the ceremony is going to be held, the other pictures are of other places in the garden grounds where we can take pictures.

The infamous red japanese bridge
Other shots from around the japanese garden.
And the reception is being held in a historic armory from WWII that has been renovated into a dinner theatre.
The groomsmen will be wearing their military dress blues (all of his groomsmen are marines):

**Update**
Changed bouquet inspiration, thanks to ShellS and her post about Aisle Design and their awesome eye candy florals.
New inspiration:
Love it. Sooooo much. Ordering burgundy mini callas, black bacarra roses, and making the fiddlehead ferns (monkey tails).
And I'm thinking the girls could carry "stacked" black magic rose bouquets, kind of like this:

Still DIYing all the flowers though!
We originally wanted an old Rolls Royce as our car, but they wanted a hefty security deposit on top of the rental fee, and we're on a budget.
So this is our limo...Chrysler 300, baby! =]
Love the Rihanna song, but this is not about her, just about our music we have picked out so far. All the posts for people to list their songs made me feel like just putting them all on here. Hehe. We've got a pretty eclectic mix of songs going on.......
I'm walking down the aisle to Apocalyptica's cello version of "Nothing Else Matters". My BM will be too, we're just having one song, but I'll start walking when it builds up and gets loud. =]

Recessional is Goldfinger's "99 Red Balloons" and we're having our guests, well, you can probably guess....release 99 red balloons at the end of the wedding. =]

Our introduction song has been changed! It's Never Shout Never's "Happy".

Our first dance is Brand New's "The No Seatbelt Song". Not a traditional lovey song, but it's one of our songs and we love it. The mic feedback in the beginning is a part of the song, just an fyi.

We will be leaving in January to go live overseas for 3 years in Yokosuka, Japan. He will be working in the Naval Hospital on base. I've never been out of the country before, so it's going to be a very big adventure for me. And we definitely need to get some Japanese Rosetta Stone, because I only know 3 words in Japanese!
Here's the place I will be calling home for 3 years:
