I am engaged to Phil - we will be getting married on 10.10.10 in Asheville, North Carolina. Our ceremony and reception will be at the church I work at - it's a contemporary church, so the worship center is basically a big box, so it will take some work. I'm all about good deals and DIY, so am constantly looking for ideas. We are shooting for something casual and "us" - our colors are yellow and orange, which have nothing to do with us, I just like them.
So I've been going back and forth about table decorations. They will be circular vases, about 10 inches high (going to order online from Dollar Tree, for 1$ a piece and have them delivered to my local store). They'll have dark stones in the bottom, filled with water with an orange fake daisy in the bottom and floating candle on top and yellow tulle around the bottom of the vase. I think I'll 86 the yellow tulle, it doesn't really do much IMO, so figure that's a little time and money I'll save. I've ordered individual floralytes to see how those look with the clear beads, so we'll see if that will change my mind.
This is my favorite so far
I really wanted a Maggie Sottero, but just couldn't bring myself to spending that kind of money. I decided to go down to Atlanta, visit some family and check out some wedding consignment stores. The first one I went to (Bridal Sense in Sandy Springs), I found one Maggie I liked, but didn't love and it was still 899$. When walking out, I saw this one, in my size and exactly what I wanted. Full bottom and corset top. It's a two piece, which I thought would look weird, but when I tried it on, it worked. The best part?? It was 149$!!!! So I bought it very quickly!! It's a little out of date, but I love it. (And so does my 11 year old daughter who says she will wear my dress when she gets married!)
I'm so excited - I've got the best photographer ever!! She shot my cousin's wedding in September in Miami and is coming to North Carolina to shoot mine. She is Alison Frank and anyone who is having a wedding in South Florida should definitely look into her. Her website is www.alisonfrank.com She shoots with her husband and they both have the best personality and are so great to work with. Here's a picture of my cousin, and me and my daughter.
I saw this in a store in Greenville, SC, but wanted to make it more us, so using that as a starting point, created ours. My fiancee' loves sports, so thought a ticket would be cool. I designed these to fit 2 on a 5x7 page and am printing them at Walmart so they look like an actual picture. (They are .58 cents each, so .29 cents a piece!). We will put magnets on the back and then print yellow envelopes. My goal is to get them done this month!
