My FI and I met in Spring 09 at Port Authority in NYC. We were commuters waiting on line for the bus, heading back home to NJ from work in the concrete jungle. We would see each other almost every day and would exchange smiles or just have small talk about how late the bus was. After several months of being bus buddies, we got to know each other a little better. We were shocked to realize, we had plenty of things in common. We were the same age, he used to live in the good old Lower East Side NYC., he lived in a nearby town down the street from me, and we even worked in the same vicinity in NYC. One Summer night, instead of meeting and talking on a BUS, we decided to go out one evening and after we were inseparable. We dated for several months and both knew we had found the ONE! We soon decided to move in together and after being together for one a year and couple months he proposed on 12/31/10 New Year's Eve. It was perfect timing, right before the ball dropped, in front of all our family and friends. It was a shocking, amazing and beautiful moment that I will always cherish.
I have to say I love PW! This
website is much more detailed then all the others and has given me the inspiration and guidance to help put together my DREAM wedding. On to the wedding planning.... :O)
I apologize in advance. I've finally had a chance to put up some pics of the Big Proposal. So as I mentioned my FH popped the BIG question on NYE 2011. We celebrated at my parents house with both of our families and friends. I had been home from work for the 2 weeks prior bc I was in a mini car accident, or should I say I almost got run over by a car! :( Although I did not feel myself, with all my bumps and bruises, I wanted to make the best of it. A new year meant new beginnings! It was 11:30 and my parents prepared to get the champagne ready for everyone to sip on when the ball dropped. All of a sudden, FI proceeds to give a toast and goes on about how happy he was that our family and friends were together on this special NYE. He then continues to talk about US and our relationship, at this point I'm totally confused! He then speaks about how we met on the bus...to how happy he was that we moved in together...to how we've only been together a year and half....and that he couldn't wait anymore and wanted me to be his wife! He got down on one knee...and the rest was all a blur. It was like we were in a bubble together. I can hear everyone screaming and cheering in the back ground with happiness. I swear I was mute for a few seconds but then it hit me and AND of course...I said YES!
Setting my profile to private, so FH and others don't get too nosey.
Would love to add you as a friend! Cheers
Please let me know if I have used anyone's photos and did not give them credit. I would be happy to credit/link them back to the appropriate owner. The majority of my pics have been found on here PW, Google, Pinterest, Wedding Chicks, and Style Me Pretty.
My FH and I decided that we would get plan to get married in the Fall. One...because its our favorite Season and two...because we don't want to be all HOT, STICKY, and SWEATY during the happiest day of our lives. I've been in 3 weddings in my life and don't want to relive the sweat puddles I left behind, while standing in the heat, in satin dresses. No bueno!
If you look at my inspiration pics you can see that at first I wanted to incorporate the Fall Theme. Foliage, peachy, oranges, bronze, brown into our weddings colors but everyones been there and done that. I did some research and couldn't decide on a nice decent color for bridesmaids dresses, which threw me off completely. So instead of dealing with the headache, I changed my mind and will go with an purple and silver/grey, which will look great on all my ladies. Not sure which purple yet, have to wait till we pick out the bridesmaids dresses. The theme will be elegant-bling and have a modern-vintage feel to it. YAY! So excited.
**** UPDATE*****
10/21/11
So I've been doing lots of reserach as to what type of theme I want my wedding to be. I knew I wanted a mix of modern/vintage but I've made up my mind and finally found some inspiration boards/photos that I'm in LOVE with and have narrowed it down. I'm so excited I showed my FI and he loves it too! We're having an Art Deco/Vintage Glam Wedding. YAY!

Love the mongrams that Sarah was able to make for me. She's amazing with everything shes does. Check her out here! I'm using the first NYC cityscape and creating my own stamps for our STDs. The 2nd is for our cake topper monogram. The 3rd will be used for our GOBO light. The 4th I'm still deciding where this can used. Hmmm?!
The ceremony will be in St. John's the Evangelist Church in Bergenfield, NJ. The ceilings were recently updated and painted in blue with wood beams, which actually looks amazing. My family has been parishioners of this church for many years and I couldnt think of a better place.
Updated pic below!
Here's a pic of my BLING! Please excuse my bare finger nails. I do too many dishes for me to keep the polish on. I advised my FH to purchase a ring set with both the engagement ring and wedding band. I had heard from other brides that it was very difficult for them to match up their E-ring to a wedding band when it was bought separately. These ladies had to actually custom make their wedding bands, which cost them a good extra penny to get done. So we avoided all that and he came home with this. I think he did a great job...don't you?!
****UPDATE**** Took a better pic of my e-ring and wedding band today, with my nails done and no blurriness! HA!
*****UPDATE* 3/27/11****
I finally bought FIs ring yesterday! He has really manly hands and it was hard for me to find something for him that didn't look feminine. We had both liked this ring from when we first got engaged but it was $500 at Kohls. I kept an eye out for it and finally found it on sale. YAY!
UPDATE!!! 12-20-11
OMG!! I found my wedding shoes...FINALLY! I've been on a hunt for them for the longest and couldn't find the perfect ones for the perfect price. I got them from heels.com and they just arrived today. They are called MY DARLING by Luichiny. I got FREE 2nd day shipping bc of the HOLIDAY and they were only $90. Although, those Badgley Mishka- Lissa's were calling my name, I just couldn't spend that much $$ on shoes for one day. I'm sooo happy with my online purchase and they fit like a glove in size 7. AND I can't get enough of the <3 on the sole!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shoes that didn't make the cut but I'm still in love with.
I bought the silver shoes for the big day from DSW for only $39 can't beat that! Although, now I've changed my mind and I'm on a HUNT for the perfect PURPLE shoe, to match my BMs dresses. Decisions, decisions!
My FI loves this look from Calvin Klein! I think its an actual tuxedo but can actually pass as a suit, which is why my FI loves it so much. I figured he can be in all grey and have the groomsmen in purple ties and/or vest so he can stand out and be different from the rest of the group. OR we've been looking into the mismatching grey suits but we're still undecided.
MOH Dress Bridesmaid Dresses
Love these chiffon dresses that I found at David's Bridal. We ordered them in PLUM. I originally wanted each girl to have their own style dress but it was too hard to choose one. We decided my MOHs dress will be different with the one shoulder (LOVE), so she can stand out more. The BM dresses will add a flower to the waist to tie in all the dresses together.
So excited! My FI and I used the extra day off from work the past weekend to look for limos and instead booked a photobooth! LOL Love how its sleek and white and it doesn't look like your traditional photobooth. It lights up in all different colors and has a monitor outside to see pics of the funny faces your guests just took. Love it!
Going to buy lots of props so my guests can mix and match things together. I'm sure I'll find them at the Dollar Tree.
My wood cake topper made by Craft Eddy craftyeddy@gmail.com he's the best. He can duplicate just about anything you give him. Going to Michael's to purchase a hot fix tool and need to buy some BLING and spray paint! DIY projects...I'm scared lol. I'll be sure to post the finished product.
Update: 11-9-11
Took some time over the weekend to go to Michael's and purchase some spray paint and a hot fix tool for my cake topper. I wasn't planning purchasing them but I also found the "WE DO" letters, they were so cute and I had 2- 40% off coupons. Had my FI come with me so we can use the coupons seperately, as there is a only one coupon per customer rule. Booo! Here is my progress so far I used Sterling Silver spray paint, so proud of myself! Now I can start adding the BLING.
PROGRESS 1-27-12
Taking my time but its almost done! I suggest getting an electrical hot fix tool. The batteries run out after a while and can slow up your flow and progress. ;o/
I had so many ideas as to what to do for our table numbers, but I finally made a decision and decided to DIY them. I had been admiring these fabulous jeweled 4X6 picture frames and I finally purchased them for $6.99 each. I found some inspiration from our very own PW bride hottiebun as seen below. I created 14 slides in powerpoint, picked a pretty font, found some damask symbols online, then googled some "wedding" defintions and VOILA! DIY table numbers.
.
Despite all the craziness with the unexpected snow, FI and I drove about 40 minutes away...determined to choose our rides for the wedding this past weekend. We ended up renting the 1962 Bentley limo for ourselves, which is in great condition with updated AC, leather seats, etc. I love its classic style and elegance.
We also rented a 10 passenger Chrysler 300, which is BRAND spanking new! The inside of the car is a party in itself with neon lights, leather seats, and great stereo system. Figured we let the bridal party start their fun EARLY, on their way to the church and the reception.

I will be DIY 2 birdcages like this one. It will be for our Cards and the other decor somewhere else around the reception. Haven't figured out where yet!
Bought these from saveoncrafts.com for $22 can't beat that price for 2 birdcages. I'm still torn on spray painting them silver, figured I still have some time to decide.
