I agree with the previous reviewers where they aren't exactly the most organized prior to the wedding. And since it isn't a typical hotel venue, I had a hard time making room reservations as the regular person wasn't in the office much? However, it was a beautiful day and the food far exceeded my expectations. I had gotten food stations with meat, salad and fajita and everything was very delicious! There is really no place like Allerton in the midwest and it was great to come in on Friday and all the tables and chairs were set up. Pam was very accommodating and all the staff did a great job at the event! We even had help unloading and reloading the cars which was fantastic. Definitely would recommend for a one-of-a-kind event.

Pre-Wedding planning and organization had me significantly concerned. My original wedding day was double booked so I had to change it. There seemed to be a lot of disorganization and forgetfulness. It seemed like every time I wanted to plan via phone people were on vacation. The holidays was the only chance I had to view the venue and sit down with the coordinator and I was told I was unable to come by one person and told by another that they would come show me around anytime but Christmas Day. All that being said I decided to try not to worry because the staff seemed confidant that everything will come together. And it did. The actual event went off perfectly and I don't think there was one request however seemingly insignificant that went unfulfilled. I was extremely pleased and everyone was very helpful and accommodating. I never tested the food but I knew once I tasted it at rehearsal that it would be wonderful. Perfectly seasoned throughout the whole weekend. They do have a lot of rules that made planning a huge headache. Especially because once we were there, they were actually quite lenient. Wish I had known that all along. It would have been way less stressful.

Allerton has beautiful gardens and the main galley in the mansion is beautiful. You have a coordinator available on the day of the wedding to make sure everything goes smoothly and it did for us. BUT... Allerton is not particularly flexible, they have set ways of doing everything. They are also very disorganized. I received at least four contracts that had errors on them and had to request corrections. Basically, I had to check and correct everything several times. For example, I set up to pay for the attendants' mansion/hotel rooms. I checked that it was marked down a couple weeks before the wedding that the attendants shouldn't be charged. They charged some. When I requested that they cancel the charges and bill me they initially said no. After pointing out that I had set this up in advance and checked on it, they changed the billing. Then, after thinking we had it all sorted out they tried to charge the very next one to check in! Another example, we confirmed the day before the rehearsal that someone would be around to help us with the rehearsal. No one showed up on the day of the rehearsal and we just had to wing it. While Pam, the coordinator, makes herself readily available and was always pleasant to work with, the process of working with Allerton in general was highly frustrating.
