Our experience with Always & Forever Video was great! Dean was very helpful and willing to work with us. We really wanted HD and he was able to do that for us and it turned out great. By the time we returned from our honeymoon our DVD was ready! The quality is great and it captures so many things that we missed while we were busy getting married. The video messages from our guests were a nice touch and so funny to watch. Dean stayed throughout the entire wedding and reception and captured everything. We are very happy with the video he made!

We hired Dean as our Wedding Videographer. We were budget conscious, and told him our price, and he told us what he could do. He taped us pre-wedding, the ceremony, and reception. He provided us with 3 HD and well edited dvd's in a beautiful keepsake cover. He was never in the way, and asked us if we preferred he interview our guests, or just record everything. He therefore interviewed our guests. He was very straightforward with pricing, when we could expect our DVD, and the type of video he shoots. We received our edited, HD dvd within a couple of weeks, although he told us the time can vary depending on his shooting schedule. He was just able to get to it fairly quickly. I was especially pleased with this because I know people who waited over a year and paid much more money then we did. He was punctual, professional, and just a really nice guy to work with. We were pleased with the end result and recommend him to anyone.

Dean didn't shoot to HD-video. His camera was standard-def, (S-video quality). While this may not be a big deal to most people, in ten, twenty, or thirty years when people view the DVD, the low resolution will definitely be a downer.

Dean was a wallflower, and never really spoke out at all. At times, I forgot he was there. I'm assuming this was intentional. His objective is quite different than it is for a photographer. I was hoping for a bit more interaction between the guests and the videographer.

It's been over seven months since our wedding, and we have received our rough draft copy of the edited wedding video. We have yet to receive the final copy.

Always & Forever Video responded with the following comments:

Back in 2006, very few wedding videographers were shooting in HD (high definition). Since many couples (and their families) these days are buying new widescreen equipment, I now offer HD. No question, HD is a great way to go, although some couples might be leary of all of the lines of resolution possible with HD. That's just one area where expert and meticulous editing (which is very time-intensive!) is particularly important. There are many videographers out there who will produce a "quick and dirty" video, without advertising themselves as that type of videographer.

If you take a look at my web site or my literature or talk with me on the phone or at an appointment, you'll realize that I present myself as a very unobtrusive videographer. I feel that the very best wedding day DVD is natural and unaffected, a beautiful reflection of a wonderful day! So I guess that I should thank you for the wallflower compliment. Most brides and grooms tell me that they have little or no recollection of me being there at the wedding day, other than saying "hi" before the coverage begins, and they are almost always very impressed and happy about the unobtrusiveness of the coverage!

As you know, I don't edit until after you've reviewed the rough-cut (which is essentially everything that was shot) and provided whatever input you wish for editing. So the seven months is not all on me, although I am very upfront in the booking process in saying that a three to four month wait for the edited DVD is not unusual. The rough-cut DVD, on the other hand, is available right away, as you know. With my deluxe packages, I spend as much as 40 hours editing. There's no way that I can do that without an editing backlog, that's a key part of the reason why I provide rough-cut footage first. It is the edited version that will be a particularly treasured keepsake in the many years to come!

All the best,

Dean Dykema
