What an absolutely magical fairy tale autumnal wedding our daughter, Mariel and her groom Matthew, were blessed to have at the Belvedere Mansion in Rhinebeck NY, this past weekend 10/3/14-10/5/14. The unique, historic, intimate setting provided timeless, tasteful character. The staff were very attentive, accommodating, and professional. The opportunity to spend quality time with family and best friends who traveled to the destination was invaluable. The staff's flexibility was demonstrated when the sky was full of rain on the day of the nuptials and they seamlessly arranged for a heated indoor tented ceremony. But everyone was so spirited and happy to begin with, nothing could dampen the good vibes. The sun did break through the clouds later that day. A special shout-out to Jill, the invaluable event coordinator; Richard, the maitre'd; and Richard Cohen, the chef. And of course the proprietor, Nick, who maintains this historic Dutch Hudson River mansion as a labor of love. We all look forward to revisiting! Our grateful appreciation, Drs. Ellen Frost and Jerry Melnick, parents of the bride.

My son and daughter in law had a whole weekend wedding at The Belvedere. We had a buffet dinner Friday night for 95 guests, ceremony and reception Saturday evening for 180 guests and brunch for many people on Sunday. Food was delicious, staff for all events were professional and wonderful. Jill helped to play our very unique event making all things possible. We had use of the whole grounds all weekend. Do the leg work for what you want and they will help you achieve it. We couldn't have asked for more. Best wedding ever.

I am sorry to write a poor review of The Belvedere and its staff, but I believe others deserve to know that working with them was extremely difficult. They "yes" you to death at the beginning but if you want anything but a cookie-cutter wedding with exactly what they deliver to everyone else - you are going to have problems. They forgot they we wanted to cut the cake in the lounge tent. They told us we could have the ceremony in the lounge tent in April, then changed their minds in September (2 months before!!) we had to scramble - and of course pay extra to our florist as a result. The Belvedere staff even refused to put our favors and candles we purchased on the tables for us - again, we had to pay our florist more money for that. Also, if you are using the tent after dark, you should know there is very limited lighting in there - we had to rent a generator and more lighting so that people could read their menus. I am sure they wont tell you that until after you sign a contract.

Again, for a cookie-cutter wedding where you follow exactly what they want to do, this is an amazing place. Anything else, and you will be arguing with their loopy, unprofessional staff for months.

I will start by being completely honest in saying that I am one of those people who selfishly reads tons of reviews and never takes the time to write any myself. HOWEVER, after spending 18 months planning a wedding and thinking back to how crazy I drove myself in scrutinizing reviews of potential venues, I feel like I need to pay my dues in offering one for what ended up being my and my now-husband's final, beyond-expectations-in-every-way choice to hold our big day at the Belvedere.

We were set on bringing our family and friends up to Rhinebeck from the NYC area after spending considerable time there ourselves, so it was important to us that we planned a wedding reflecting the spirit of both ourselves and of the area. We had our first, and numerous subsequent, meeting with Jill, who is the point person in coordinating all of the events held there. She was receptive, reasonable, pleasant, and made a point of understanding each and every detail of our vision for the weekend. She recommended vendors -- each of which did a PHENOMENAL job (ironically, the only glitch we had was with the other local inn at which we lodged a portion of our guests), and she worked with whomever we chose in making sure that all of the planning ran smoothly. As the wedding came closer, we had the opportunity to meet Nick, who owns Belvedere, his wife, Patricia, and his son, Serge. We ended up deciding last-minute to hold our rehearsal dinner at a restaurant they own in town, Liberty (another flawless event, but too much to describe in this review), and found that they were also all genuinely dedicated to providing us with the highest possible level of accommodation and service. There were few, if any, glitches leading up to the big day, and I cannot express enough how wonderful Jill and all of the staff were when it came to ensuring that the reception, lodging arrangements, and even the after-party and morning-after brunch ran smoothly. There was not a moment during the reception that I needed anything and didn't find it right in front of me, or a time where I was sought out to worry about a single detail. I enjoyed a completely stress-free wedding from the time that I dropped off my wedding items the week before to the moment the last guest checked out.

Our wedding was held a few weeks ago, and we are still receiving constant calls from our guests with rave reviews about the wedding venue, lodging, and food (even from the brutally honest ones!). It seems that the biggest issue brought up in the previous posts that I remember was about the rooms; I will not dispute that they reflect the historic nature of the inn and that anyone deciding to book their guests in them should certainly check them out beforehand (Jill happily allowed us to look at every room on the premises multiple times before we even signed the contract). Some of them are equipped with tubs that have hand-held shower heads, some are smaller than one might hope based on the room rate. When it came down to the big-picture for us, after having stayed at Belvedere for weekend-trips several times and trying various rooms, we liked how well they reflected the character of the setting and found them consistently clean and comfortable.

I could literally continue typing on and on about how strongly and without reservation I would encourage any interested couples to consider planning a wedding at the Belvedere, but I think I've made my point! I immediately fell in love with this setting the first time that I saw the grounds and walked into the mansion; once my husband and I had a brief conversation with Jill and realized both the completely reasonable value there was in planning a wedding there and the manner in which it represented our personalities and encompassed the Rhinebeck-area experiences we hoped to share with 150 of those closest to us, we never looked back. My wedding there was the best day of my life, and Belvedere -- Jill, Staff, Nick, and family -- was the biggest component (besides my husband and guests!) in making it so. We look forward to visiting over and over again and being able to revisit our unbelievable memories there!!!

Jill and Nick were incredibly flexible with planning our wedding. We were able to pull together an amazing weekend celebration with few in person meetings.

The setting is magical and all of our guests who traveled from all over the world really enjoyed the accomodation and overall expereince. We all felt like we were at home with no cut offs for celebrations both on Friday (welcome reception) and Saturday (wedding &reception) nights.

The main reason we chose this venue beyond the beautiful grounds was the food. Nick is an accomplished restauranteur and we had numerous meals at two of his establishments in Rhinebeck (Arielle and Libertys)ahead of the event. Can honestly say that throughout a variety of dishes nothing ever disappointed! He is an expert at crowd pleasing food, and we all know at weddings it is hard to achieve. Many guests specifically mentioned the food afterwards. Nick shared his expertise in the wine selection as well presenting us with his top choices for the menu we chose.

The accomodation at the Belvedere is a wide spectrum of decor with some really unique rooms. While it made the planning a little more complicated being able to accomodated guests with different budgets was a huge plus! Everyone really enjoyed the B&B experience. Sadly there were some who prefered a generic hotel setting (TVs phones gym) who we accomodated in a nearby Hampton Inn.

The Belvedere was recommended by a friend who attended a wedding there and I would gladly suggest this as the perfect Hudson Valley venue for an intimate celebration.

We got married on a Thursday night in July with 210 guests. Having our wedding on a Thursday was the only way that we could afford Belvedere Mansion's large expense. They gave us all the rooms 1/2 price for having it on a Thursday, which was a huge help to our guests. Even though some people may thing Thursday night is strange for a wedding... as I said before we had 210 guests... and every last person said how much they enjoyed it. We heard from many, many people that it was the most beautiful, fun, and magical wedding they have ever been to. The owners, Nick and Patricia, were extremely accommodating and wonderful the day of the wedding. Everything that I requested to Nick about concerns I had, he followed through with every last detail. We could not be happier with our choice for a wedding venue. Between the fairtale tent and the gorgeous cocktail hour to the breathtaking ceremony, pool, balconies, mansion, etc (I could go on and on)... guests all realize that it is not your "typical" wedding... it is above and beyond. If you can afford to go to Belvedere Mansion for the whole weekend- do it!! if you aren't rich (which you may seriously have to be in order to do a weekend there) then don't be shy to do what we did. it was the weekend of the 4th of July (our excuse).

The Belvedere Mansion provided an absolutely magical setting for my wedding. The owners, Nick and Patricia, were hands on, helpful, attentive and extremely generous as was their staff. We made the decision to choose the Belvedere after having a delicious dinner at their restaurant. The food at the reception was catered by the restaurant and was top notch and absolutely delicious, not typical dining hall wedding fare at all. Another reason we chose the Belvedere was the convenience of having everything in one place. The setting for our ceremony was beautiful, cocktails were held inside the lovely mansion and the reception was held in their tent outside with views of rolling hills and, in the distance, the Hudson River. The wedding cake is included in the price per person and is prepared by a very good local bakery. Our family stayed the night in the hotel and the Belvedere provided a sit down brunch the following day. My only warning is that the Belvedere Mansion is a restored Victorian home. We were married in the summer and with window units instead of central air, some of our relatives were uncomfortably hot. And the rooms are small. But we didn't mind and neither did most of our guests. My husband, myself and my guests couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to spend our special day.

I fell in love with the Belvedere the first time I visited their website and when I saw it in person, I knew it was where I wanted to hold my wedding. From our first meeting and throughout our planning process, Nick and/or Patricia (the owners) were very responsive, warm, and helpful.
We had a destination wedding weekend, which included a Friday night welcome dinner, our wedding ceremony and reception on Saturday, and a goodbye brunch on Sunday. Everything went beautifully except our reception meal, which you can imagine was a major disappointment. To be fair, we were refunded some money and receive tremendous apologies, but the memory of that awful meal remains.
Despite that, I would still recommend you consider the Belvedere, as the setting is just beautiful. Our friends and family all had an amazing time and we have wonderful memories of our wedding weekend.
