Very disappointing experience trying to arrange a wedding at this synagogue. I am from Richmond, and my dad taught Sunday school here, and also my little brother attended Sunday school for a while here. It is a beautiful synagogue, and I had always dreamed of getting married here. But the staff would not give me the time of day to even discuss this possibility.

Although my fiance and I are not current members (we live in Northern Virginia), we indicated that we were excited to join and make a contribution, as well. We had to reach out three times to simply try to request possible dates that were available, before being told that we would have to wait two months to speak with the assistant rabbi, who was on leave, to gain his approval. Without his approval, nothing could move forward at all. How inflexible.

Why not find somebody else to "approve us" in the 2 to 3 months the assistant rabbi is unavailable, such as the main rabbi who also works there, instead of making couples put their lives on hold? Deeply frustrating.

Overall the Executive Director was unhelpful and entire process awkward.

For the most part I had a wonderful experience, although they were difficult about letting me use the downstairs to get dressed due to air conditioning issues. However, I had the most beautiful and memorable wedding because the temple is breathtaking.
