We had our wedding in June 2011 at Osborn Castle at Cat Rock and it was FANTASTIC!
It was the perfect place to get married if you want beautiful natural surroundings. It is elegant and impressive but also manages to create a comfortable, intimate setting for guests. The castle itself is gorgeous, and there are sweeping views of the Hudson River and West Point in one direction, and mountains in the other. The ridge that overlooks the Hudson was a lovely casual gathering place for our guests, and the music from the tent wafted across the lawn to the ridge.
We could not have been happier with our experience there. Many of our guests commented that it was the most beautiful wedding venue they'd ever seen.
Ruth, the manager of Cat Rock, was delightful to work with and very organized and professional. We also loved that while the folks at Cat Rock absolutely know what they’re doing, they don’t impose the requirements that many “experienced” wedding venues do (e.g. required vendors) – we were really happy that we could bring in our own alcohol with no corkage fee and work with whichever vendors we wanted (although they did offer some suggestions of great folks, which we followed).
I'd highly recommend Osborn Castle at Cat Rock!

Cat Rock was breathtaking. I'm a wedding photographer, so I've seen a lot of venues in the tri-state area. I was looking for something different and when my husband and I went there, we immediately knew it was where we had to get married. We were lucky to have a beautiful day so our guests were able to enjoy the stunning views from the mountain top. Cat Rock is still a private residence, so you feel like its your home for the day.. not a wedding venue! Hank, the owner and Ruth, the manager were very helpful. Since we had about 200 people we had our ceremony and cocktail hour on the lawn by the house and had to put in the additional tent and bathrooms on the lower tennis court for the reception. It was a great decision.. the large tent on the tennis court was beautiful and it was a nice transition from one part of the evening to the next. One thing about this kind of venue is that you have to bring everything in, tents, bathrooms, tables, chairs, you name it! It's a blank slate. The key is to work with great venders who can help you with these things. Our caterers took over working with the rental company for us which was invaluable! If you are working with a tight budget, be sure to get a really good idea of your rental and catering costs before booking because depending on what you decide to do the costs can vary greatly.
