Describe your DJ style:
We can be whatever you wish... a perk of the many different situations we've been thrown into over the years. If you'd like us polished, quiet and in the background with our hands folded, we can do that. If you want us in the middle of the dance floor spraying champagne all over the place, yeah, we can handle that too! One of the perks of both CK and Kramer being there, by the way, is that Kramer sticks on the music all night while CK can roam and coordinate things behind the scenes. You can usually find him in the back hallway with your coordinator working out scheduling of the night (as things inevitably change rapidly), coordinating surprises that the bride or groom want to work in last minute, lining up the bridal party, sobering up your uncle, etc. With just the one DJ your typical company provides, they're stuck in their corner all night or the music stops. In our case, the music plays on AND we're involved behind the scenes. Win-Win.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
Absolutely not ... as long as you give us a heads up on what you want with enough time for us to find it, we're all over it. We even have the ability to grab stuff on the fly, but we'd rather know well enough in advance so we can 100% keep our eye on the ball as the event is happening.
What is your usual attire?
No cheap clip on bow ties. Generally, we're in black suits with ties. If your wedding is casual, we can do that too. We want to blend with the attire of your guests, so how you tell us to dress is how we'll dress. And under no circumstances will we outdress the groom.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
99.9% of the time we have it or can get it. But in special cases, if there's a certain mix you want or a special song that wasn't ever released to the mainstream, we'll ask you to provide it.
How many other DJs do you work with?
We have three other DJ's besides CK and Kramer that are available for overflow booking or if you'd like another option. Good friends of ours that are also (or at one time were) in radio with us.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
About three and a half minutes, if you just need one song played. Can we put a smiley face here?
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Absolutely. We prefer it so we can sort through all the little details so you don't have to worry come day of your event.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
Yes, we have a form that addresses all of your preferences, including stuff we should not play!
Do you bring your own equipment?
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
We have limited cheesy lighting and prefer to subcontract the good stuff from some friends of ours when you need it. That said, we do have and offer some limited cheesy lighting. :)
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We don't require it, but it's nice when it's provided because the venue matches it to the decor of the room, so it's preferred. We set up early as we can get into the venue so we have have all the acoustics dialed in way before your guests begin arriving.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
In most cases, we're able to cram it all into the 6x6 foot space we get in the corner of the room!
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
No. You're paying us to be there and we're not going to ham it up with some lame advertisement. We have cards if people ask, but otherwise the day is about you and not us.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
This is why you are interested in our services because it's our biggest selling point. With nearly 30 combined years in radio, we know brevity better than anyone. And since our music is beat mixed, you never have dead air in between songs. Kramer spins, CK talks over fades and intros, just like they would on the radio. It's a seamless, non-intrusive presentation that takes care of your business but keeps the party moving!
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
We bribe them. No, seriously, this does happen now and again when you have an insistent aunt or grandparent that wants a particular, dance floor clearing song played. The good news is we know what to play next to bring them back and keep them out there all night long.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Another perk of a two man show. Someone's always on the music, even if nature calls. We eat when and where nobody's watching, if we need to fuel up.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Either Kramer or CK is always on the music, you'll never notice. :)
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
If you book us, we're there. Minus an act of God, and in that case, at least one of us is there with a different co-host, at a discounted rate.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
No, not weddings anyway. And nothing else within 4 hours of your event. Sometimes we'll have something non-event-DJ related happening in the same day, but it will never interfere.
What is your overtime rate?
It's negotiable based on the situation. Oftentimes it's no additional charge. Again, we charge by the event as a flat rate, not by the hour. Your event is worth far more to us than our time. We'll work it out.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
We require a 50% deposit to secure the date, refundable under certain terms and with advance notice.
