Overall it was a great experience. They have good prices and you get the rental for the whole day (16hr rental) so you do have to worry about your vendors being able to get in. We were also able to get in on Friday so we could decorate, which was awesome. The only thing about that it is totally based on availability. if they do not have any events going on the day before they will let you get in to decorate. It also has a nice park and courtyard around it so there is a lot of good photo ops. The only problem I had with them is on Friday when we showed up no one was there to let me in, and I had to go to bang on the office door and was ignored. The back door was unlocked so we got it but it was very frustrating as we had many discussions with them about coming in on Friday. Overall though this is great venue for a wedding on a budget, the ballroom is pretty much a blank slate you can really decorate however you like.

We held our wedding ceremony outside in the Riverfront Park and then had our reception inside the Civic Center. It worked out perfectly. The City of Cocoa Leisure Services was a pleasure to work with. They made sure we had anything that we needed and did an extensive walkthrough with us to plan everything a couple weeks before the ceremony. Would highly recommend them!

Our OTHER reception location was a complete disaster and we had to move the location of our wedding and reception ONE WEEK before our wedding! We called up the Cocoa Civic Center and they came to the rescue! We got their ballroom and we were very impressed. They had plenty of tables and chairs, an area for me and my bridesmaids to get ready, a kitchen in the back with plenty of refrigeration, and they even had lattice work with white "Christmas" lights behind the dancefloor, which was perfect for atmosphere. The bathrooms were clean, the lighting was perfect and adjustable, and they were very flexible about our friends and family staying behind after the wedding was over for cleanup. Everyone was very professional and nice and eager to help us with whatever needs we had. Next door is the Porcher House which is an old house perfect for photo ops! Also just outside was the City's stage with a big grassy knoll, also perfect for photos, and the river is also right there. We got so many priceless photos in the area. It was PERFECT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We had our second wedding/reception at the Porcher House shortly after its big refurbishment in 2007. The wedding was out in front of the house, we were married on the stairs and the guests sat on nice white chairs in the lawn. The chairs are paid for each for rental and are set up and taken away for you. Inside is beautiful, would not suggest a sit down meal reception for more than about 75 guests, which we had, and still had room for dancing and people to mingle inside. I had a gift table, cake table, guest book/photo table besides tables for all guests. The linens are provided, they are nice quality. There is a kitchen for your caterer to use, and ours was the Black Tulip and the owner was more than pleased with what the kitchen provided for him to work with for our dinner. I dressed upstairs as did my two attendants, there is plenty of room with bathrooms upstairs for you to use, bathrooms downstairs for guests, and an elevator to haul stuff to store while your reception is going on (things that my decorations went in, etc.). It is beautiful out back, having many areas for guests to stroll, and for the photographer to have for photos, including a very short walk to the river. The City of Cocoa is who you book through and the woman you work with are pleasant and helpful, you can have a dress rehersal there before. If it rains they say you can have the ceremony on the beautiful staircase inside, only your guests will have to stand as there is no place for chairs. They do the set up and take down of your tables inside. It was so simple to have everything in one location, decorations for the outside were then taken inside and used again. The cost was so reasonable for the beautiful location and clean, pretty inside compared to bare halls and hotel convention rooms.
